Fast forward to Dr. Nick and his staff and what a totally different experience. I called in to schedule an appointment to have a second opinion for both my daughters and they were able to get me In within 72 hours. During the visit Dr. Nick gave such a warm welcome to us all. After the exam, he explained everything he found in detail, without displaying an ounce of annoyance. Dr. Nick overall does an excellent job expanding on questions or concerns you might have. My girls had to come back for some dental work that required them needing fillings, they were so comfortable with Dr. and his staff they weren't even phased for their second round a week later. My oldest was in some pain after one of the procedures and the receptionist noticed this without us even saying anything, she acted quickly by offering her an electrolyte popsicle which definitely brightened my daughter's spirits. Other good things: The place is super clean, they have the TVs nicely set up on the ceiling for the kids to watch movies, they offer sunglasses to help block the bright light, the software they have helps give a really nice visual of your child's teeth and if they have cavities you are able to see the exact location of where they are. I really liked how they had a separate room to discuss payment plan and care plan.

We prepaid their annual in house plan for our 3 children (7, 4, 2) - $150/child for a total of $450. The in house plan was supposed to cover 2 exams, 2 cleanings and x-rays for the year. Unfortunately, our visit didn't go well. The office apparently isn't equipped with an x-ray device small enough for children's mouths. The technician accidentally hurt the inside of my 7 year old's mouth while attempting to get the x rays. This unfortunately upset him and the tech prepared a topical numbing agent for his cleaning (this seemed crazy to me as I have never hear of using a topical to make a cleaning "more comfortable" as she described it). I was very surprised this was prepared without asking me if it was ok. Maybe they would have asked prior to applying it, but it was locked and loaded so to speak. The dentist then explained that he had 3 cavities to be filled (in front of him) which caused him to get even more upset. I had him calmed down and she mentioned referring us to an orthodontist where they can determine if he needs braces. This sent him in to a crying freak out. Upon which she suggested we wait to do his cleaning until he's under nitros with his cavity filling. We scheduled the next appointment and they said they'd contact me with pricing to fill the cavities. This kiddo has seen a dentist twice a year since he was 3 years old and has NEVER even been nervous. They were unable to x-ray my 4 year old because "her mouth was too small" for their equipment however she did receive her cleaning. My 2 year old received a cleaning and no x rays due to his age. I asked the desk clerk what the plan would be moving forward regarding getting x rays for my 4 year old and my very soon to be 3 year old for his next visit. She said she would speak to the dentist about maybe ordering a smaller device. After discussing the experience with my husband we decided this was not a good fit for our kids. My husband called and left a message to discuss canceling our appointment and requested a partial refund for the services paid for and not rendered (since we wouldn't be returning for our 2nd set of semi-annual check-ups). The next communication was to call me with a voicemail telling me the price of the cavity filling procedure, making no mention of the message my husband left. He called once again and left a message. The office staff attempted to reach him but he didn't answer so she called me. This is long so I'll summarize: they told us we were due zero refund since, had we not done the in house plan, our services would have been more than what we had paid for the year a la carte. She even sent me a link to a website to "educate me on fair pricing for dentistry." I did not expect a full refund. I would have been satisfied with any effort to refund a portion of the prepaid services. Considering we received less than 1/2 the services promised to no fault of our own, I was shocked they have refused to refund any of our money. They only offered to conduct the cleaning when I come back, however there was absolutely no was I was taking my son back. He was TERRIFIED. I chose to take my son elsewhere for his cleaning (of which I had to pay for again) and was told he only needed 2 fillings and no need to consult an orthodontist at this point. He was so scared from his prior experience, he couldn't stop crying. Again, he has never shed a tear in a dentist's office. Thankfully we chose a SPECTACULAR pediatric dentist and he was able to completely turn it around and my son was all smiles when he got his fillings done. I would not recommend this office for children or anyone else for that matter due to their business practices.

No pre op for surgery My 3 year old was intubated in his office (every dentist I consulted with told me this was not normal) Not conservative when recommending treatment Poor follow up after dental procedures No on call physicians for dental emergency too busy taking vacations My son had zero dental pain and now he's in the worst still 2 months after procedure Crown fell off a day after procedure Dental abcesses 2 months after procedure when again my son had no issues before besides demineralization we believed him when trying to be "preventative" and everything we were trying to avoid from happening actually happened WITH the treatment. He was is the most pain for weeks!!!!! My sons 2 front teeth are infected after his treatment. Please google him prior to having any treatment. I am writing this review based on my own experience. Luckily his current dentist is THE best and said these dentists need to be more conservative. She felt so bad for us she didn't even charge us bc she felt so sorry for him. She said his teeth had a little trauma from a fall when he was little and that they were going to fall out sooner rather than later and he should NOT have done what he did to my son.

I would recommend this pediatric dentists for all my friends/family not only for the service but the cost is amazing too. For the kids, they turn on their favorite movie (mounted on the ceiling), have cute kid friendly furniture and toys (for during the appointment) and of course a toy afterwards to take home. I highly recommend Dr. Chen, she definitely made the whole dentist experience for my 5 year old not traumatic even with extractions. Ashley and everyone in the office was also exceptionally friendly. Really happy we found Happy Kids Pediatrics.
