Sent a rental inquiry to Chris about viewing some properties that fit our budget and needs, and received a two sentence, rude response. I asked if I should reach out to other rental companies as he clearly didn't seem like he wanted to help us find a house, and received a lovely response back. Glad that I decided to go elsewhere, especially after reading other reviews. Figured I would give him a chance, even after viewing his politically-charged website, turns out I was wrong. Inquired about a rental property recently. When it was realized that the property was owned (not managed at all) by Garno Properties, we decided against it, as the "management LLC" is extremely terrible. After Mr Garno sent an email calling my emails "fake news" or "fake requests" he said he would report me to Google. If I could I would give no stars. Does not answer phone calls or return messages. Office is always closed even though it says it's open. Also they do not return emails. Why advertise rentals if you don't actually want to rent out properties. Try somewhere else as you will never get a response back from them. It's a complete waste of time. read more

Terrible.. Doesn't fix anything and when things break he tells you that you have to pay to have them fixed. He will send someone out when the city does their checks to ensure things are up to code. They do a half ass job to fix it. Garno degrades tenants and is very rude. read more

Garno Property Management is the worst most unprofessional company I've ever had to deal with. Chris Garno is extremely rude and will angrily yell at you if he is not completely happy. I rented a house from him and he and his office were completely unresponsive to phone calls or emails unless it was about something important to him, like getting an inspection completed. When we first moved in we completed his move in checklist and when he finally sent out a maintenance man weeks later to fix up the issues that we noticed, even the maintenance man complained about how terrible Garno was and he said that he wouldn't be working for Garno much longer. Sure enough, the next time a maintenance man came out to prep the house for some inspection, it was a different guy who said he was new. There website says that any maintenance emergencies must emailed to them, and when one our bedrooms flooded due to heavy storms we tried emailing and calling him and there was no response for days, so my roommate got some of his friends who do wet dry vac work to dry out his room at a discount, and when Garno finally got back to us days later he threw a screaming fit over the phone at my roommate because the maintenance work was not cleared with him. Garno will also try to retroactively back charge you for miscellaneous fees and his office is completely unorganized and will do a terrible job of keeping track of your payments. After moving out of his rental I'm going to file a complaint with the better business bureau about his company. Even if renting from Garno is your only choice, I still wouldn't do it, you're better off living out of your car. If I could give them 0 stars I would. read more

How do people even get a rental with them?!!! SERIOUSLY! I was looking to move and found a couple houses that I wanted to check out and I swear it was the hardest to get a hold of someone and I never did!!! I called, I emailed, I even went to their "office" and the door was locked but supposedly was open during business hours. I went at like 10 in the morning mind you. I got one call from Paige after I emailed my application and pay stubs and she said I needed to send extra stuff. Okay that was fine but when I forgot all that they needed trying to get a hold of them again with calls and emails went unanswered. Eventually I gave up!! read more

DO NOT rent from this place he evicted us when we had no place to go when I had my 6 month old son, made us pay for things that had nothing to do with us, refused to fix up the house when we planned on staying of he fixed up the house. They instead sent us a 3 day notice with no where to go read more

This company is horrible. They keep offering homes for rent that are already leased just to get more application fees. This is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to rental property management. They will lie and cheat just to make a buck. The owner was so rude that I walked out. Avoid Garno properties at all cost. Horrible, crooked people. read more

After weeks of being unable to reach Garno by phone, my fiance and I opted to visit the office in Lansing. We should have turned back after seeing the plethora of Trump propaganda proudly on display. The office door was locked despite the lit "open" sign, so we left. We finally received a call back after approximately 3 weeks (mind you, this was long after submitting an application for the home we were interested in). When we got to the topic of how many people would be living in the home, I told him it would be my fiance, myself, and my service dog. My service dog performs life-saving medical alert and response tasks, such as anaphylaxis mitigation, amongst other tasks. When he learned of this, he completely changed his disposition. He prodded me with increasingly personal questions about the nature of my disability, which I have no legal obligation to disclose. I told him I would be more than happy to provide a note from my medical professional. He then began discussing a pet fee. I informed him that he cannot legally charge me for a pet fee since a service animal is considered a medical tool by law, and not a pet. He began to raise his voice at this point and harass me, declaring "any animal, whether it's a service animal or not, must pay a pet fee or else you can't live in my house!". Garno Property Management is the most awful management company I've ever had the displeasure of working with. They are rude, lie about fees, and don't return calls or emails. We lived at one of their properties for one year. About 6 months into the lease they sent us a billing statement for over $1200, saying that we owed back rent and about $700 for water. We tried calling and emailing them multiple times to ask about the water charges since our lease said that they pay for the water. It wasn't until near the end of our lease that they said they would sue us if we didn't pay. When we contacted the water company we found out that Garno was negligent in applying for a business water account and that was why the water bills were astronomical. They tried to make us pay for their business fees! We sent them a check for just over $1200 for a rent check (that they lost!) and other bills we weren't aware we had to pay. We recently moved out and got another billing statement for $1350. The statements doesn't say that they received our check for $1200 even though our bank says they cashed it. The woman who answers the phone (if you're lucky enough for them to answer) is very rude and totally unprofessional. She had the nerve to tell my fiance "you need to grow up and pay your bills and act like an adult" when he was simply inquiring about a bill. I feel bad for anyone that falls prey to their scams. I would give them a negative review if I was able to. The rent was cheap, but the hidden bills were ridiculous. If you need a place to live, I guarantee a box on the side of a road would be more accommodating. read more

Worst experience with a property manager ever. Rented from him for a year. Consistently denied doing maintenance including repairing of heater, air conditioner, mildew in drywall as appliances such as the garbage disposal, washer and dryer. He is also extremely rude and somewhat aggressive as he managed to directly threaten both myself, my neighbor, and my roommate all at various times. Threats typically followed complaints concerning the lack of maintenance being done on the property. Honestly, I'm baffled at how Chris Garno has stayed in business. read more
