It was a terribly inconvenient time to be receiving the delivery, and obviously too late for help setting up. We had ordered assorted appetizers -- crudités and chips/dip. The chips and dip were literally bags of Doritos and etc -- without even bowls to put them in -- and frito lay dips. Like the kind we could have bought at the grocery store for far less. Moreover, one of the items we ordered (pasta salad) was totally forgotten. All of this could have been OK if Chris had handled it better afterwards. I let him know the following day about the mix ups and inconveniences, and didn't receive a response for a few days. At the very least, if you have someone else handling a job, you should reach out to find out if it went OK before the client has to reach out to you. His eventual response was disinterested and perfunctory. All in all, we feel ripped off and cheated. Other than the dessert, there was nothing delivered that we couldn't have gotten at Stop and Shop for a lot cheaper and without much more hassle. I'm really glad we had our own chips and dips to supply because it would have been very embarrassing to put out the bags of chips that were delivered. I received a phone call about ten minutes later. They ran out of brisket! The owner Chris called me personally. He offered several reasonable substitutions, but we really wanted the brisket. The owner apologized for the inconvenience, and said he would include extra brisket in our upcoming order to compensate for their shortage. We ordered yesterday, and indicated Chris' instructions on the third party app. The order was delivered quickly and perfectly! The brisket was well worth waiting for, and the restaurant definitely gave us extra meat, as promised. The meat fell right off the fork. I didn't even need to use a knife. This is melt in your mouth brisket, complete with the smoke ring. Real deal. We requested that they put the marinade on the side. Like any good piece of meat, the marinade was complementary, but not necessary. It was just like when you go to an exceptional steakhouse, if the meat is high quality, steak sauce and additional condiments are not required. The corn bread was homemade, soft and tasty. The fries were nicely seasoned and very fresh. The coleslaw and onion rings were excellent. The macaroni and cheese was an interesting blend of shell pasta with a thick peppery cheese sauce. On the day of, she came by a bit early (which was a non-issue for us considering we were idling by at home), and was very efficient as soon as she stepped in - we were served some delicious hors d'oeuvres (fig and brie crisps were divine!), an appetizer (truffle burrata and arugula, with a delicious pomegranate molasses dressing), second course (crab cakes with mango slaw, always a favorite in my book), main course (a perfectly medium rare Pat LaFrieda steak), some sides (a decadent sauce for the steak, creamed spinach and potatoes lyonnaise; if you coudln't tell, we wanted to replicate the NYC steakhouse experience), and lastly, chocolate mousse for dessert (needless to say, it was amazing).
