The quality of the food has declined, sadly. We had a great experience the first time we came here, a few years ago. We have come back 3 more times hoping to repeat that experience. Tonight's warmed over, dry ribs were another disappointment and we won't be back. The ribs are not fresh or juicy, as they had been the first time we were here. That was a memorable and fabulous experience that we've been trying to recreate. The service here has always been friendly and attentive, but I really wish the food was as good as what we had the first time we came. Hands down the BEST bbq I've ever had in the NYC tri-state area. The dry rub on the ribs is so amazing and flavorful that no sauce is needed!...unless of course that's how you roll. I ordered 3 of the BBQ boneless thighs and one BBQ egg roll.. Egg roll was good , but the chicken was overdone over priced which turned me off of what I thought was a go-to in my town.. I'll go for the music, beer and to see friends and buy food somewhere else. A disappointment. read more

My friend's Kiwanis Club run a fundraiser and partnered with Laura's BBQ Shack. I am so glad they do. They are located within the Glen Cove Marina so there is plenty of parking and it's very simple to get there. It's a lovely setting inside with plenty of space and rooms. Having a party here would be no problem at all. The staff (including the owner and family) are always so kind and appreciative of their guests. We pre-ordered one ribs and brisket dinner and one chicken and brisket dinner. It came with and order of coleslaw and their delicious BBQ sauce. All the food was definitely a treat! We love their dry-rub for the ribs, it is OUTSTANDING. These ribs are packed with flavor and they are tender and moist. All things necessary for a great rib. We also love their chicken and brisket. Again, both these items are packed with flavor. They are moist-tender and overall delicious. We just love the food with their BBQ sauce on it. This is the perfect package. Food is excellent! We came in a Saturday night in March, no wait got right in. My mom had gotten us a gift card so we drove all the way from Bellmore to give it a try. Totallly worth it. Brisket Egg Roll is Delicious. Fried pickles app is so delightful. Get extra dip! For dinner my hubby and I split the 1/2 ribs and pulled pork. All the sauce is on the side, but legit it's fine because all the meat is soooo moist! We loved it. The ribs don't fall off the bone, but had a nice taste. Laura's BBQ Shack is reinventing the backyard BBQ party scene. I attended a backyard BBQ here in Brooklyn and thought it was a GENIUS idea what they had a food truck parked out front. Laura's BBQ catered all the meats and fixins - melt in your mouth pulled pork, brisket, ribs, smoked chicken, smoked salmon, and since that obviously wasn't enough for the 50+ people, and ENTIRE pig. I opted for the pulled pork, ribs, and brisket and smothered it in their BBQ sauce. The pulled pork made the perfect sandwich, the ribs fell off the bone, and I had to hold myself back from going for a second helping of brisket. SO GOOD! I didn't really try the coleslaw and potato salad because.... MEATS. That's what we came for, and that's what we got. Clean up was seamless. The trays that were put out were also taken back in by Laura and team. This was a great help to the party's host. Would give 4.5 stars if possible. We ordered sandwich/ 1side: brisket, pulled pork, chicken. I was not used to seeing the meat without a glistening sauce as i am not used to a dry rub bbq. Took off half a point because brisket was on the dry side but flavorful. I was surprised at how moist & flavor the chicken and pulled pork were. The bbq sauce/ chipolte provided on the side were bonuses. Sides of collards greens deep flavors, coleslaw- not dripping in sauce or mayo were so well done. Mac n cheese was also creamy and light enough to each as a side. Although the corn bread was soft moist, i could thought there was lack of jalapeño and a small piece was provided. I'm always looking for a good bbq place and we thought we'd try this one. I know they say it's in a marina but there is no view as you are in a marina parking lot and only see cars and dry docked boats. I almost missed the entrance luckily I had my phone giving directions. It's a bit off the beaten path and not really worth the trip. The meats were dry and the bbq sauce on table(2) hot sauce and a very vinegary sauce. The onion rings were good no chopped onions real rings and the fries were fine. The Mac & cheese had no flavor and the potato salad was very mustardy (Dijon). I ate one rib and took the rest home and doctored it up so I could eat it. In fact everyone did. The food wasn't worth the long drive. There are many tables inside with a second room with a bar and a pool table. Tables outside with umbrellas and a bar. The parking lot is lots of pebbles so not conducive for heels or wheelchairs although it is handicapped accessible. Service was fast and friendly. read more

Staff was friendly but you can tell they don't get much business. We arrived at 12pm expecting to get the day's first round of freshly smoked meat, instead we got days old brisket, ribs, and chicken. There was no way that meat was pulled off a smoker that same day. It was definitely days old, which means it was dry and had an odd iridescent hue to it. But the main reason why this is a two star review is because the place was dirty. Again , we went at 12pm right when It opened. I went to use the restroom and it looked like it wasn't cleaned in weeks. It was repulsive. We were the only customers in the restaurant. This place needs work. If you dont get the ongoing customers , you will never have a good BBQ joint bc your meat will never taste fresh. Note to the owner: clean your bathroom and don't serve days old meat. read more

We went on a gorgeous night. The owner is from Texas and definitely knows how to smoke meat Texas style. Super nice guy. The ribs are dry rubbed and not slathered in BBQ sauce. Sauce is served on the side, so don't expect ribs dripping in sauce. To be honest, I didn't realize how much I enjoyed it that way since most BBQ places serve ribs dripping sugary in BBQ sauce. The coleslaw is also lightly dressed. Not very Mayonnaise-y. If you are looking for the type of BBQ served Applebee's style smothered in sugary sauce, this is NOT the place for you. If you want the real deal, Texas style you will love it here. The owner saw that my husband was interested in smoking meat so he showed him the smoker and explained how it worked. I have our boat at the Glen Cove marina and a few times we pick up the ribs to bring home and they are always very good. A friend and I went for lunch and had the beef brisket. I told my wife it was the best brisket I ever had. She was like...yeah yeah yeah We had a dinner for 7 at our house recently and we ordered the beef brisket uncut and ribs uncut with sauce on the side. My wife heated everything according to the directions from Laura. All 7 of us were in total agreement, it was the best beef brisket all of us ever had. Very moist, and tender, not dry at all. My friend/coworker, JP, and and I heard from another coworker she spotted a mobile BBQ shack down the road from our job. Since the three of us love barbecue, we had to check it out. Today I went there for lunch with my fiancé. Their home base is in Greenvale, NY, but they are at the Robbins Lane Service Center from Tuesday through Friday 11am-4pm. The kitchen literally looks like a mini log cabin shack. Lloyd and one helper was there preparing all the good stuff to take out. Thy offered sandwiches of pulled pork ($6), brisket ($7) and chicken ($7) and half ($12) or full($20) rack of ribs. They also have a plate lunch that is $10 that includes two choice of sides (coleslaw, macaroni salad, potato salad or beans). We ordered one rack of ribs and a brisket sandwich. Lloyd was nice enough to chop the ribs up to make it easy to eat in the platter. The flavor on the smoked meats were AMAZING!!! The spice rub on the ribs was so good. Plus the sauce that Lloyd had put on the ribs to finish it was perfect. It enhanced the taste in every bite. It was quite addicting. The ribs were cooked to the right degree where the meat just fell off the bone. This is definitely somewhere my coworker and I may become regulars. read more

I just left from having a wonderful evening with very dear friends. The atmosphere at Laura's was delightful. It's owned by a lovely couple named Lloyd and Laura who came to our table and made you feel like you were old friends. Lloyd is originally from Texas and has managed create a REAL Texas barbecue restaurant in Glen Cove. The food was delicious and the portions were large. The ribs were tender, juicy and incredibly tasty, so was the Brisket. If you like BBQ don't miss this GEM. This is definitely on my list of favorite restaurants. read more

Today I was the first customer at their Charles ave cafe location. Paid $17 for a brisket plate which was good but not $17 good. You can get almost double the food from most other places for the same price. The brisket here is so tender it falls apart. It's moist and full of flavor. Ribs not as meaty as I prefer. The portion size for sides is small. Chicken fingers and fries for kids are standard ones. Fries were thicker than shoestring but good and crispy. Coke slaw is great. For dessert we had vanilla ice cream which was a generous portion, churros with caramel sauce and a little whipped cream. My friends and I recently had our first and LAST dinner at Laura's Bbq. At first glance the restaurant looks like a place where locals like to eat and DRINK! Food and service were average. While waiting for our meal, Lloyd, the owner was asking guests how their meal was. He spent some time with the couple seated next to us and we had no choice but to hear their RACIST, immigrant bashing conversation. Dont know if Lloyd knew we were hispanic but he never approached our table to ask how our meal was. We left there INFURIATED and DISGUSTED. l am planning on sharing this experience with friends in the community. There are better restaurants in the area with decent owners! Loved the location. The space in Glen Cove is great. If you are looking for a quick beer, it's a great place. Unfortunately the BBQ was terrible the night we went. Two of our three meals were cold. The ribs lacked flavor. The pulled pork was ok But, the brisket which should have been a star given the required cooking time was overcooked making it look also like pulled pork and was dried out. Glen Cove is hurting for a good BBQ restaurant. Laura's BBQ Shack has all the pieces to be that place. I look forward to trying it again in 6 months and hope for better. read more
