The caramel one was coated in so much sugar it sticks to your teeth. The butter popcorn was so stale I couldn't believe it even after they brought a new batch out, it was still stale lol. There was a customer that came back while I was there to tell the employees to try their popcorn because it's stale. It should have been a big enough warning for stay away. I left with a large bag of cheese popcorn since I cannot do too much sweet. I definitely want to go back for another taste of the buttery popcorn. I honestly don't know what else to say about Garrett's that hasn't already been said. There was definitely a long line here, but it moves quick. There was two guys working and both were friendly and got us in and out. My go to here is of course their Garrett Mix. You get a mix of their cheddar and caramel popcorn. It's the best thing to order. There's something about the sweetness from the caramel, and cheesiness & saltiness from the cheddar popcorn that just seems to work perfectly. They have other flavors that I have yet to try. I'm pretty sure they're good, but I always just seem to crave the Garrett Mix. She developed the now-famous recipes in her kitchen. The popcorn is cooked in small batches throughout the day for sale in stores and cooked the same day for orders that are shipped, so what you get us guaranteed to be fresh. The Garrett Mix contained Cheese Corn & Caramel Crisp. The cheese popcorn was fluffy, buttery & cheesy. The Caramel Crisp had a rich buttery caramel flavor. The two together was a delightful combination of salty & sweet. The Chocolate Strawberry was a combo made in heaven. The flavors stood out. When I explored their website, I learned that this is a women-owned business and how she brought her secret family popcorn recipes to people in Windy City. As I walked into the store, they had various types of popcorn, which came in different sizes and kinds. They had CheeseCorn, Caramel Crisp, Plain, Buttery, Pecan Caramel Crisp, and many other types. They had small, medium, large, and jumbo, which came in both bags and tins. I got a mix of CheeseCorn and CaramelCrisp based on my cousin's suggestion, which is called "Garrett Mix." This was created by fans in 1977 and was initially called Chicago Mix. I got a small size. The popcorn was packed in a plastic bag. The popcorn tastes good with a variation of cheese and sweet popcorn. Overall, the popcorn tastes good. The store setting was to buy and take out, just like any other regular store. They had different popcorn varieties that were displayed at the store. The prices seemed a little higher to me. I would recommend this place to any tourists who are visiting the Windy City. While visiting Chicago this past weekend, Garrett Popcorn was definitely on my list to visit. Given the fact that our hotel was only a few blocks away we were able to to make it happen. As you walk inside you can't help but smell the delicious smell of caramel. Inside the glass cases they had caramel, cheese and buttered popcorn on display. I ordered a bag of the Garrett Mix which consisted of half caramel, half cheese. They fill your bag to the top leaving just enough room for them to fold over the top to seal for freshness. Somehow I managed to not touch the popcorn until I returned home which was 3 days later and it was still fresh. If you haven't tried Garrett Popcorn you have to put it on your list of things to try. If you're visiting and forget to stop by before you leave they have shops inside of the airport for you to purchase in your way back home. read more

I haven't had Garrett's popcorn in a long time so I was glad I was able to grab some bags for me and family for gifts. Wasn't too busy when we came, around 10 AM. We got 2 large bags of the Garrett Mix and 1 large bag of CheeseCorn. They lasted more than a day in our luggage and did not go stale at all so I don't know how they do it but it lasts. Not much you can say that hasn't really been said except it's some of the best popcorn period. Everyone in the store was friendly and helped us get in and out in less than 5 minutes. Let me preface this by stating that I am a HUGE fan of Garrett Popcorn, specifically the Garrett Mix (a combination of CaramelCrisp and CheeseCorn, formerly known as Chicago Mix). I was disappointed to find huge clusters of the CaramelCrisp within my bag that tastes of burnt caramel. I checked with my son who had purchased the Large CaramelCrisp for himself and sadly he reported the same. My mom and aunt who I'd purchased the small and medium Garrett Mix for indicated the same. There was also a specific window for people who ordered online. The cheddar popcorn mixed with caramel is their signature mix especially back in the day when people would buy it separately and mix it themselves. In my opinion, I felt it was just like any other popcorn. I understand it was a big thing to have these two mixes sold together in one pack and the history behind it.
