Not surprising this place has such a low rating. If you have any other choice, DO NOT take your cherished pet there. They have no compassion at all. More concerned with themselves and getting breakfast. My husband and I drove 45 minutes to get there this morning with our dog who was basically paralyzed and the girl at the check in could not have ruder. She said they were closing and would not be able to treat my dog, which confused me since the website says they are open 24 hours. When I checked the sign on the door, it did say that they closed at 8:00, but we were there about 7:20 and she still refused to see my dog. That girl should not be working in a cemetery much less an emergency animal hospital, and shame on the owners for allowing that kind of behavior. read more

My dog sadly passed away while bringing him here. He contracted a deadly stomach bacteria that took us by surprise. When we arrived the vet techs were kind and compassionate. They communicated our options for cremation and washed him before we said goodbye. I appreciate what they did for us. Would recommend. read more

Our Miniature Pincher is 18 years old. He became unsteady on his back legs was falling over we were guessing his age was the problem to be sure we brought him in , it was after hours thankfully they were open. The front desk was very friendly, the Doctor was great. She asked a few question ran her fingers over his back, she took an x-ray and found he had a pinched nerve. While delivering puppies our dog ran into an emergency. AEH told us to bring her in right away. Our dog was seen right away and was able to have her puppies without surgery. They jack up prices unnecessarily high and when u can't pay it they no longer care about your animal My cat broke his leg I brought him in they do an xray to tell me what we already knew I'm like okay what do I do dr stone says "I don't do bone surgery" I said okay how much will it costs she makes a phone call and tells me his surgery will be $8,000, I immediately break down because I don't have that money just laying around I ask what can we do they SEEMED compassionate and told me we could splint it and it may heal $75 splint $45 pain meds every 5 days for 10weeks I work full time I didn't want to have to leave my animal locked up in a bathroom in his own pee and poop all day long it wasn't fair to him I ask them SPECIFICALLY "if I surrender him will he get the SURGERY he needs " they say yes I sign him over because I THOUGHT it's was the best thing for him WRONG (paid$247 for the exam fee and xray) My mother in law finds out about the situation she goes up there BEGGING FOR THE BILL to find him Well the nurse at the front desk that WAS NOT THERE when I surrendered my animal tell her "she said if we didn't take him she was gonna dumb him somewhere ... absolutely not I never would do that she also slips up and mentions my cat never had his surgery I call very upset about these accusations and mention I have audio recordings of the agreement in which I left my animal there all of the sudden HIPPA DOESNT MATTER and "well if ur serious about paying the bill we can get him back here" upon leaving a vet follows me out it and says she suggests getting his leg amputated but it will cost me 5-8 thousand dollars We pay the $800 bill and I call HARMONY IN TAMPA they tell me they can do an amputation on him for 900-1200 and that his bone was NEVER GOING TO HEAL IN A SPLINT So if it was ME paying the bill 8thousand dollar surgery was "dr's best option" ... their excuse for putting him in a splint and not doing surgery was "well we were following drs orders" !!!!THE AMOUNT OF MONEY I SPENT WITH THEM WOULDVE PAID THE TOTAL COST OF HIS AMPUTATION SURGURY !!!!! My Jake was an old man , 17 year old Shitzu, and had a seizure on a Saturday night . Took him to Animal Emergency and they took him back and after awhile vet brought us back and told us Jake's seizure was probably the result of a brain tumor . Vet was very compassionate and explained that at his age he probably wouldn't survive surgery. They kept him overnight and sent up home with anti seizure medication. We took him to our regular vet and he agreed 100% with emergency hospital vet . Jake lived for 4 more months quite happily . Then he crossed the rainbow bridge and Hernando Emergency Animal Hospital . I had no idea what to do so I called them and lady was very kind and compassionate. We brought Jake to them and they took care of everything and a week later Jake is home in his little box . read more

Waited 2.5 hours to be called back, which isn't really the issue I understand it's busy. The vet techs were all pretty kind for the most part. Dr stone in my opinion lacks basic compassion skills. I'm not sure if she's got a dry humor or what, but multiple comments were made that came off extremely rude to me and the person with me. I also did not like the way she handled my dogs issue. My dog already has extreme anxiety at the vet, and while holding her down squeezed her infected abscess she had, bursting it open, with no pain meds, no anything which obviously made my dog more traumatized. Maybe this is normal? But it seemed cruel to me. As well as rushing me to commit to a surgery at 2k. As I was crying over the paperwork trying to think of how I could afford it, she just stood there impatiently. She even made a few sarcastic comments about me crying. I have NEVER experienced a vet that was SO heartless. As other reviewers have said, she comes off cold. And makes you feel like an idiot when you ask questions about your pets care. I'm not sure why someone would go into this profession if they don't seem to have much care for the pet OR the pet parents. I've never experienced this with any other vet. The compassion they showed when I had to put my kitty of 16 years down was amazing. They were so kind, quick, and allowed us as much time with her as we wanted. The cost was very fair. A week after her passing I got a surprise phone call that they had her paw prints and some fur for me along with a beautiful card. When I went to pick it up, the girl at the desk expressed her sympathy and made the small gesture of coming around the desk to hand it to me. This place is great in the case of an emergency. Sure there are less expensive veterinarians, but when going to an "emergency 24-hour place," you expect to pay extra. It's just a fact of life. I was very impressed by the pleasant staff, and the extremely nice veterinarian. I was told when I called to come right away and the assistant told me upfront, on the phone, that there was an examination right at the beginning and what that cost was. Then after the vet examined my baby, she told me what she recommended, the assistant came in and showed me what my additional costs would be for the recommended services. You have to sign off on all costs there. Then after the x-ray and blood work, the vet gave me two choices - 1. Let them care for my baby for 24 hours and 2. I could take my baby home and wait until the following morning to go to my regular vet for treatment. The assistant came in and went over the costs for my boy to stay there if I selected that option. Which I did so my baby wouldn't have a hard night at home. When it is the weekend, and regular veterinarians are not open, paying extra for immediate care in an emergency situation with such nice and caring staff, makes things a little easier for you. They know they charge a little more than a regular vet, but they are open 24 hours and when other vets are not. You pay more when you go to an emergency room, why wouldn't you expect to pay more for a pet to go to an emergency room??? Glad I went there. read more

The wait was reasonable. The bloodwork and health assessment of my dog were done efficiently and all the support staff were kind. It became clear that euthanasia was necessary. After the euthanasia prep was done, they brought my dog back into the exam room. I had been looking forward to a few minutes alone with my girl to say good bye and thank her for being in my life. But without warning the Vet immediately began to insert a needle into the catheter and push the plunger. I yelled STOP but the vet ignored me and continued. As I said a hurried goodbye to my dog, the Vet inserted the final needle again without warning. This vet (who is also the Owner of the Business) clearly saw this as just a job to get done. If she were changing the oil in my car, I would have appreciated her efficiency. But she was ending the life of a beloved family member. I will never go back. read more

They were great in handling my emergency with my cat Pippi Longstocking. They even spelled her name right. Two of my cat hadbeen fixed and she had an open wound with pus coming out. It was pretty gross and they put her on antibiotics and I got her an Elizabethan collar. I didn't know they were called that but now I do. It's not cheap here as a matter of fact it's a bit expensive but they can save your animals life. To me that's worth it!!! They do a great job. read more

We received such excellent care and service here! I'll have to admit, at first we were SUPER nervous to go to this facility bc of the seemingly poor reviews but since it was after hours on a weekend (and our usual Repro vet was unavailable), we had no choice. So glad we came in though! We were promptly seen and taken care of. We ended up paying less than what we were quoted and the prices were very reasonable for an emergency center! The center was impeccable and clean also! Our Frenchie had a successful emergency c-section with no subsequent complications. This is a delicate procedure and Frenchie's are notorious to have issues even during an OR procedure, but the Dr. and staff no doubt knew exactly what they were doing! We're SO relieved and SO thankful! We will come back in the future for ANY of our after-hours pet needs for sure! read more

We had to bring our cat in. I thought she had tweaked her back or a back leg when she jumped off the be. when she was assessed by the Vet Tech, she was taken straight back. After a short wait, the Veterinarian came in. Our cat threw a blood clot that lodged in an area that stopped the blood flow to both back legs. She'd been on a heart medication for several years and her heart is where the clot came from. The Vet was so compassionate and caring. My husband and I had to let our cat go to the Bridge. The building they are now located in reflects the care and professional they have. read more

I do NOT recommend going here ever!!!! 1st visit- called for a price and they said a specific amount, but at check out it was substantially more. Reason given-well after midnight it's this price. (Was NOT told this. This is just the exam price. I know tests n treatments are more ) My breed of dog should NEVER have a specific medication as it causes a lot of deaths. It's in the text books. ALL vets should know this and every other vet I've been to DOES know this. I always have it listed in my dogs file as allergic to it just as an extra precaution. She was given said medication without my knowledge. She got extremely ill, but lived. Came here a second time not knowing it was the same ER because they moved and it had been over 3 years since I had been. Again when I called for a price was told the price for an exam was $125 and at check out it was over $155. Reason given-after 2:am it's more. That's when it hit me that it was the same establishment. I guess u need to ask for a price per every 15 minutes. I asked if I could have a written prescription for the antibiotics (enrofloxacin) and was told "no, that I was not able to purchase it anywhere else except there." LIE !!! Which now that I'm home and can research it. Not only can I purchase it at multiple other places. It's only just over $15 and they charged me over $50 for 15 pills. So over $150 for the exam. (My dog had an abscess bleeding). Over $50 to look at the blood under the microscope for bacteria and no she didn't tell me what kind of bacteria and over $50 for 15 pills. Grand total $265. She never even looked at the abscess let alone drained it. I have no problem paying for my dog, but NOT when I'm flat out lied to not once but twice in just one visit. That is not ok at all We should also not be forced by yelp to give one star. They don't even deserve that one. read more

Why repeat the same procedure within 1 wk, nothing will change in blood work. They want to do what cost the most for their customers. I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. If my dog passes away, because they don't know what they are doing, they will regret having to deal with lawyers & the news stations. Update: I took her somewhere else & all she has is arthritis & spinal deformities which is usual in Bulldogs. This Dr told me to take her off all her pills except for the 2 & only give half a tablet starting in 48hrs. He had to give her a shot to have her start eating again & quit vomiting. Now I see they only wanted the phone. To me it's like they were trying to kill my dog. UPDATE My dog passed away 12/2/21. She was a healthy dog which had arthritis & that's why she was yelping every so often. If I wouldn't have taken her here, she probably would still be alive!!!! read more

Owners Beware, my little dog chewed and swallowed half a tennis ball, Dr Stone suggested having him vomit this ball big pieces came up She did this three times and said take him home he'll be fine, He was still drowsy at 7 pm and I called her back but said just let him rest in his kennel ov as he still had meds in him ok I let him out to potty at 12 pm and put him to bed with a blanket and pillow. I finally payed down at 1 am as I woke up to my little guy dead and blood from his mouth.. all she could say is sorry it shouldnt of happened!! Now she tells my insurance company sorry for my loss but I left that little guy in a kennel for 14 hrs unattended. Is she crazy or what he was inside my bedroom with me !!! This was uncalled for and as I've discussed this with other vets and surgery should have So beware of your fur babies!!! been done. read more

We had to have our Rottweiler put to sleep on a Saturday when our regular vet wasn't open. Our regular vet recommended this emergency clinic. Dr. Keely Smith and the staff were so compassionate and kind. The technician and Dr. Smith both treated Jazzy so kindly and loved on her. When Dr. Smith had everything ready, she talked us through the procedure, telling us what was going to happen and what we should expect, then waited for us to be ready for the next step. Dr Richey and Dr Stone are awesome vets. I wish they had a regular clinic so I could make them my pets primary. They both give excellent advice and are compassionate. It's important to have bedside manner as a vet and both of them have it, they truly care and go above and beyond. Yes they are a little on the expensive side but what would anyone expect - they are open after hours. I would however avoid Dr Smith if she still works here - she speaks very quickly making it difficult to ask or understand any question or concern and - on more than one occasion - gave terrible pet advice during the appointment. read more

I recently brought my English bulldog Churchill in r/t breathing issues. He spent an entire day being treated. Test results were dire. It was cancer. Dr Stone and staff were professional and caring. He had 4 wonderful days before his symptoms returned. We reviewed our options and decided to put him to sleep. It was a heartbreaking decision. We returned that evening and were treated with so much compassion and love. Dr Stone was absolutely wonderful....I would recommend her to anyone seeking emergency vet care....she made an extremely favorable impression on my husband and myself. Woudl honestly give them a 0 if I could ! Such terrible customer service we called asking about a c-section for our French Bulldog we were told a price and that they could do it no problem ! We didn't think to ask if they had a progesterone machine because from our experience we assumed that they would have that in order to preform a c section. After driving 2 hours they tell us after we arrive that they don't have the machine and can't do the c section unless we give the ok to have her cut without knowing her levels which is very dangerous and unsafe I never heard of that before last night. Just overall a terrible experience in the future I hope your standards are a little higher and you can communicate better with customers who are dealing with emergencies !
