I ended up going with David not because he was the lowest quote but because he did not try to convince me to go with texture because it would be an easier job. When I tell you they did incredible, I mean they did such an amazing job my electrician asked for his information (for his own personal home). This is a hard and dirty job and his crew was professional and even worked on July 4th (to my surprise). I cannot recommend more.

From the beginning, Owen was willing to provide a quote upfront, while a competitor refused to quote or wanted to charge $89 just to come take a look. Several handymen and contractors told me my door was basically shot and would need to be replaced. Not true. Owen took one look and knew immediately what the issue was. He repaired everything in about an hour and a half, doing detailed, thorough work--fixing the sliding glass door, track, and handle (which had come loose from how difficult the door was to open and close), and even repairing the adjacent screen door, which we were convinced would also need to be replaced. Sam's quote is just the labor, so you are not charged a markup on your quote for any material cost. There were a few surprises along the way, and he took care of the extra work without charging extra. He also demoed the kitchen tiles nicely and even did some extra paint work and tile grout for free. He makes sure the project will be done well! Sam is honest and practical. He suggested I wait to install a kitchen vent until a future renovation. I still went ahead with it, but it was nice to hear someone not trying to upsell me. I can trust Sam's opinion for the job and not worry that I am being exploited by my lack of home renovation knowledge.
