I dropped Carl Garvin Insurance after the Northridge Earthquake. I had just purchased a new Mustang. They told me I had to go to their office and have them take pictures of the car. Less than a week later, the earthquake hit, and roof tiles fell from my home onto the roof, windshield, and hood of the car. Guess what Mr. Garvin told me?
"Hey, it's your fault, I told you to drive over here and have us take pictures. No pictures, no coverage."
It was a hard time for all of us, and the car was not my only concern. I ate the $3,000.00 bill and cancelled with them immediately! I was a customer of theirs for ten years with only a comprehensive claim for a windshield before this. I should have gone straight to the insurance commissioner, but with a severely damaged home and business, I had no time for that.
If that's how they stand behind their good customers and back them up, I wanted nothing more to do with their company, and neither should you. Ten years of commissions and they wouldn't even make a call to Mercury Insurance on my behalf.
I know this was 20 years ago, but I was cruising through Yelp and their name popped up! I had to give my true experience with them. Don't take the chance, some things never change! read more
