My issue is that after just 2 hours from leaving this office I was in a crazy amount of pain while i was at the dentist getting fillings done, I asked if i needed a root canal because even though she numbed me I could still feel the pain .. she said no I don't need it and to stick it out we were almost done .. I have had fillings done before and they never felt like this.. I called the office and they wouldnt see me and told me to wait for my doctor to call.. I asked what do they do with emergency patients that were just seen there.. they had no idea and tried to act like what i was going through was normal... mind you I currently work in healthcare and in dental before. I asked can I be seen for them to double check the work she said no .. the dr called me after office hours and told me she can see me in the afternoon the next day.. but didnt offer any medication or what to do with this pain.. luckily i was able to contact a new office who allows emergency appointments and they said the Doctor drilled too deep the next day I went in for a root canal A2 smile called me and asked for my review .. It's run by a husband & wife team of Dr. Kim and Dr. Ma, so it felt good knowing that I was supporting a local business instead of some corporate franchise. The person at the front desk (I think her name was Niki) was very helpful when I was filling out my forms and explained to me what was covered through my UofM grad student insurance, along with other logistics related things. I'm usually not good with paperwork, so her help was very much appreciated! After the initial examination, I learned that I had a filling that came loose and some minor gingivitis (which was expected since my teeth have been bothering me for a while now), and Dr. Ma explained her treatment plan for me in a way that I could actually understand. I should mention that I usually get very anxious when it comes to dentists, but Dr. Ma's gentle approach helped alleviate some of that anxiety. Oh yeah, and the hygienist was super thorough. Like, it felt like she got to parts of my mouth that I didn't even know existed. Quick Edit: my boyfriend recently went to Choice Dental after I pestered him about his dental health situation. He's just as weary of dentists as I am, so I was really relieved when he told me that he had a good experience with Dr. Kim. And when he says anything positive about any kind of doctor, he REALLY sincerely means it. So all in all I'd highly recommend Choice Dental to anyone looking for a dentist in the Ann Arbor area.

Little researcher that she is, she found Dr. Choi at Choice Dental, which is on South Main just across from the stadium in that office building with the parking underneath. Not only is the office pleasant and the staff very friendly and competant, but the service is just outstanding. Everytime I'd turn around, he'd have something new and techy, from the tiny camera he used to take pics of my teeth so I could see what was going on to the program he used to show my how my teeth were going to move. Better yet, when I went for my cleaning, the DENTIST did the whole cleaning. Not a 2 minute consult. The WHOLE cleaning. Long story short, this dentist will make you feel like you're back in time, with a dentist who's good at what he does and actually gives a damn about you. Old school. But I have to say, the COVID precautions at Oak Valley Dental are top-notch. They make sure you're not mingling with other patients as you move through the waiting area to your exam room. Each exam room has an air filter scrubbing the air. My hygienist and dentist are both vaccinated (as am I) and were double-masked. And they streamline the bill paying so you're not waiting at the front desk for payment to process. I was impressed both with how they adapted to the pandemic and to see that the first-rate skill and service I've come to expect from them had not suffered. And I can now relax back into my pre-pandemic 6-month schedule. Whoo-hoo!!

I started seeing Dr. Bunek in 2015 (Has it really been that long?!) at her previous practice. I then followed her to her own practice and I love seeing her in her element! Her studio is ultra chic, located across from the "Big House" with a bit of a Go Blue feel throughout - a nod to Dr. Bunek's training, I suspect. Her all female staff is super friendly and I have loved every hygienist that I've seen. Her style and detailed-oriented, aesthetic eye come through in her work, as well. I trusted Dr. Bunek with my smile when we gave my upper teeth a cosmetic update with crowns and veneers. I achieved the natural, beautiful look that I was hoping for. Great person. Amazing dentist. I really appreciate being seen on time every time. The hygienists I've had have been great. They seem to use newer, more updated equipment than what Dr Tar's office had before. For example, my teeth are first cleaned with a water pick type tool that is efficient and effective (though sometimes a little splashy - close your eyes). It greatly reduces the amount of time spent with the old school scraping tool. X-rays seem updated as well. I'm consistently in and out in under an hour. Easy parking on site.
