He checks in with the receptionist and they direct us to the waiting area. We wait there for a while and he's called in to get his eyes checked and they dilate his eyes. We are then sent back to the waiting area. Next he's called in to take pictures of his eyes. Knowing this process from the last time I stayed in the seats so we can save or chairs in the overcrowded waiting room. After he takes the pictures, we're waiting again. We get called to see the Dr. Li which is actually a nice guy. He goes through the pictures and checks his eyes. He then sends us back to the waiting room to get more pictures. Why he doesn't order all the pictures he needs at one time baffles me. My boyfriend had given the assistant papers he needs for work before going to wait again. He gets his pictures and we have to wait again!!! We get called back to see the doctor and he clears him to leave. However we had to wait again for them to finish the paperwork. It's literally one sheet of paper. It was very simple!!! I went back there because I thought they forgot about us, but she was still working on it. I'm sitting here writing the review during this wait!!! I had to go back again because I couldn't believe how long we were waiting. I explained we wanted to go. The waiting room had standing room only. Her response was she wants to go too!!! We waited over 20 minutes for this paperwork.

My friend and his wife wanted a very specialized, highly trained ophthalmologist. Dr. Engelbert has a VERY impressive résumé and CA. His appointment was at 11:30 am; he was Called into exam room about 11:35 am. For years, driving him to his appointments, because of the treatment and dilations, that was fast! Their promptness and ability to schedule patients properly, that didn't waste their time impressed me. He was in with the doctor for about an hour, maybe a little longer. It takes a few minutes for the eyes to dilate; and then the treatments begin. When he was done, he was happy with the treatment. They take a variety of medical coverage plans; inquire first to make sure yours is one of them. The office clean, well organized, and there is breathing room. In the Main lobby is a small Coffee/Sandwich Shop - Eddies II. To pass the time and get something to eat while he was in the treatment room. There's sufficient parking and handicap spots near the front door. It's easy to get on and off Route 87.

I didn't have any vision problemas - I just wanted to make sure everything was fine. The initial tests showed that my vision was 20/20 with glasses. The I saw Dr. Dang Suveera, who told. me there were some minor changes in the membrane behind my eye, but that it was normal for my age. She said she wanted to look more closely at the membrane behind my eyeball. I told her I was afraid because I though she might touch my eye with the metal instrument, and I said NO. Despite that, she insisted on doing the procedure. She said that if something went wrong, she could "drain the liquid in my eye chamber with a laser". That statement made me very nervous, but she didn't explain what exactly she was going to do. When I felt something touching and pressing on my eye, I panicked and pulled away. She stopped, but afterward I felt pain and discomfort for several days, and I still don't feel that my eye is the same. I regret allowing this to happen - I had no symptoms and didn't need that test. I left feeling violated and afraid. It seemed like she ignored my consent and did something unnecessary just to practice or check something that wasn't urgent. I'm sharing this so other patients know to ask questions, refuse any procedure they're not comfortable with, and be very cautious about what is done to their eyes.

I first worked with Dr. Maisel and now go to see Dr. Shah due to scheduling issues. They're both wonderful people and incredibly comforting while lasering your retina. The entire staff here is fantastic. Very nice, friendly, courteous, and keep you laughing while they run a million tests on your eyes. It makes the whole experience rather pleasant. The only downside is occasionally the wait can be long. It's a popular practice with lots of patients and even with COVID, it's still taking quite some time to be seen. But once they do get you in the back it's in and out.

And the wait wasn't that bad. My first time it was so busy one of the nurses took me into a treatment room, or some sort of workspace (it was a few years back) so I could sit and be comfortable, being that it was SRO (standing room only!). He was also able to diagnose something in both of my eyes that other Ophthalmologists couldn't. And he gave me a prescription for glasses (I used to have perfect vision) which the other doctors felt I didn't need but I was getting headaches and having trouble driving. He really knows his stuff and is very intuitive and is really very nice to deal with. If I had a dollar for every arrogant doctor I have come across I could retire!!!!! I had used Dr. Weiss for over 20 years and had every confidence in his ability to do my cataract…read moresurgery. I had one done and it was perfect. A few months later, I had the second eye done. I had the cataract lasered off and went in to have the lens put in. Dr. Weiss inadvertently dropped the lens in the wrong place and couldn't retrieve it. I knew that the surgery was taking much longer than the first. He kept trying and trying to get the lens out, even calling in another ophthalmologist to look at my eye. He continued to try to get the lens out, calling in the other doctor a second time, when the other doctor said he should probably stop. In recovery, Dr. Weiss told me what had happened. I would have to go to a retinal specialist as they would be able to do what he couldn't do in getting the lens out and repositioning it. He kept insisting that there was no problem and that it would just take a little longer for me to have a lens put in. It's 2 1/2 years later. I have been blind in that eye since the surgery. I have had 2 retinal reattachments and a full cornea transplant since my simple cataract surgery. There is no chance now of every regaining my eyesight in that eye. While he might still be good for eye exams, please rethink him doing your cataract surgery.

Some of the people running the office are nice, but there is one lady where she just seems like she has an axe to grind with everyone. The hours are convenient. On Tuesdays, you can get as late as 7pm, which is good for working people. Also, if you have DMV, school, or work forms, they charge $15 per form. I have never heard of that before and think that it is a little ridiculous. They also charge $70 for a refraction which is normal because insurance companies don't cover it..
