They shut down multiple attempts I made to provide legitimate comparables. Then they just invoked the appraisal clause, forcing me to hire my own appraiser out of pocket, with NO explanation of why I wasn't allowed to submit more comparables. The lack of transparency and communication made this entire process feel like a fight at every step. We will never insure with Progressive again, and I recommend you do the same.

They were friendly and more than happy to up charge me more then I expected because my home is located "in a fire zone" and "I'm on a personal well" and so on and so on... Because of some recent fires in California have pressured insurance companies to tighten there policies... I get it. However, here's the problems I had with them. Being a new home owner I was unaware there would be a home inspection literally like two days after getting their insurance, which was not explained to me, I guess I should just be expected to know that? I explained I would need to do some clean up on the property which I promptly did but apparently wasn't quick enough because after having already paid for the policy and now committed I quickly received another bill almost 300$ excess because I didn't clean it up fast enough.. Mind you the policy was already extremely over priced! Fast forward to renewal time.. Bum Bum Bum Q the dramatic music.. Guess what not only is my renewal still extremely over priced but It is even more than what I paid for last year with the combined 300$ increase!! I only found that out after calling several times, no answer first two times during normal hours, to ask where my renewal form was because I hadn't received it? Turns out they sent it to my mortgagee, like sure id love for them to pay it but they don't and wont. After gasping at the new renewal amount the receptionist told me over the phone, she quickly explained to me the reasons why it was so high, previous reasons, AND that it was highly unlikely I would find insurance anywhere else, but "they'll see what they can do and look around for a lower cost company through them". Bull, they did nothing and just sent me an email two days later saying "sorry we tried, but nothing, so when will you be paying for this renewal? They have honestly made me feel this way EVERY TIME I have dealt with them. It took me two phone calls, 15 min of my time to find a reputable insurance company that covered me better financially, with a "preferred insurance company" (look that up if you don't know the difference) that brought me back up to code and honestly 100% was half the cost of what they were charging me. It's just sad to think that there are companies out there sucking people dry and deceiving them to believe they are your only savior. If I could say anything I learned a pricey lesson, always remember to reach out to other companies and never believe everything your told and fall for the likes of companies like this.
