Very disappointed in their customer service. I am vacationing from California and called to make an appointment for oil change. After leaving two voice mails for the appointment person I asked to speak with a service advisor and was refused. The attendant told me they can't make appointments and she would personally walk back to tell the scheduler to call me. Well it's two hours later and the have yet to call. TOTALLY satisfied. My wife and I went to car hunting not too long ago. To make an extremely long story short, she loved the car that was just a little too expensive (isn't it always like that?) and after many, many hours Ford got the total payment right at what we were looking for. Add in the fact that the day after we bought the car we went back to the dealership to alter the extended warranty we bought and it was no problem! They did a great job at explaining all of our financing options and what the warranty covers. The staff was very straight forward, didn't sugar coat anything and it was the way I preferred it to be. I recently purchased a 2019 GMC Sierra through them. The Truck is beautiful, but in saying the process after buying the truck has been trash. I have had trouble with getting the title for my trade in. I was told that it would cost the $150.00 to get a title through. I told my salesman, Marcus Zingaretti, that I would not pay that. If you look up in the state of Florida, it cost $2.50 to get a printed title. My title was supposed to be in Oklahoma, because that is where it is registered. I sent the duplicate title paperwork to Oklahoma Tax Commission and the fee of $12.55 to get the title. I contacted them today because they still have not sent me title. They informed me that the state of Florida still had the title. I called Marcus to let him know, Hey I will be able to get you the title today, I just need to get with the Florida DMV after I get a lean release from my bank to show them. He said "You need to do that, or just bring the truck back," I said "That's not going to happen, my bank has already funded it." He replied "Then you need to cut a check for $27,000. I'm just relaying what my managers told me" I will never recommend this place to anyone, and Marcus needs to take classes on customer service. read more

Bought a 2005 Acura TL. Told it was a local trade with clean car fax. Found out from the Acura dealer that the car had no records of ever being serviced at the dealer. A year later lost first gear in the transmission. Knowing that Acura had problems with the 2004 and older TLs trans I talked to the service manager who I knew quite well( use to work there) and since the vehicle had no repair or service history they wouldn't do anything to help me out. Not even a 50/50 or goodwill replacement. Rodney at global transmission rebuilt the trans with upgraded non Honda parts and let me make payments. I would be embarrassed to have my name on the side of the building. Clearly, this dealership does not represent the Ford brand if you have to deal with their service department. I requested several times for Mister Smith to call and address my issues. The only avenue I have is this social media to ensure other ethical Ford owners don't have to settle for terrible service. No one cares, they blame other employees, and they in no way whatsoever honor their commitments. Do not go there under any circumstances. Wish I could give a negative 5. This has to have been the worst experience I have had with servicing my vehicle. I took my vehicle in for a trunk issue on Tuesday at 9 in the morning. I had to call the service center at 3 in the afternoon to find out if they knew what was wrong with my car. (I had to call numerous time to get a service agent on the phone. They have a operator but when you tell her they are not answering her reply is, "I work in a different building so I don't know what's going on." Then she transfers you back to the same office that is not answering. I had the same issue with trying to schedule an appointment because the appointment representative rarely answers the phone. I had to call for a couple of days to get an answer from the appointment representative.) My car had not been touched. I then receive a call at around 4:45 that evening (keep in mind they close around 5) to tell me that a part was missing from my trunk. I have to take my husband's vehicle the next day to go figure out what is missing. I get there and the mechanic that has been working on my car is rude, starts getting loud with me because the part that he claims was missing, I know for a fact was bolted to my vehicle when I dropped it off. I had to go back and speak with the assistant service manager Andy to let him know what was going on. All of this was done only to find out that the part was in my trunk as the mechanic had taken it off and forgot where he put it. They were trying to charge me an extra $450 to replace a part they misplaced. Now it is Friday and my car still has not been fixed and they refuse to give me a loaner car because mine is not under warranty. If it is a company mistake that my vehicle has been in the shop for almost a week for a job that should have not taken over 2 days, you would think more would be done. There has been a price reduction but I do not feel that is enough. Terrible customer service for over priced work. I will never go back to this shop. Update- I received a call back from Andy stating they still do not have the parts needed to fix my vehicle and that my review was seen by the company. He stated that the review makes him look bad (even though he is not the one that the issues were with). He then stated that a loaner car could be provided and he would call me back around 2:30pm. I received a call around 3:45pm stating that the only way the company is willing to give me a loaner is if I remove my google review. I refused to remove my review so they refused to give me a loaner. I would not believe any information praising the service center if this is the type of ultimatum they are giving for rectifying their bad customer service. read more

So I went here today to hopefully figure out what was wrong with my car. I had an appointment for 11AM. When I made the appointment I asked how much it would be, and didn't get a quote. I get there, say I have an appointment and asked how long it would take. Didn't get an answer until I talked to a couple other people. I was told it would be a few hours "after lunch". Then I was told it would cost $130 for a diagnostic. 2 and a half hours later someone comes and grabs me and says "So they did a few things, I'm not too sure there was dirt in something they blew it out. Let's go to the gas station, try to pump gas and see what happens. ". The guy ended up getting gas on the side of my car, twice. We come back, I wait another hour. I get called into service, and I'm told they have no clue what's wrong they wanna keep it for the day do more diagnostics on it. So long story short, I had an appointment, notning was done on my car for two and a half hours, they charged me $154 and didn't tell me about other fees. Then they wanted me to come back, leave the car with them another day and pay another $154. Highly recommend you stay away from here. read more

Ford Mustang GT 2013 Convertible had replaced recalled airbag. Service Department did a horrible job, misaligned installed dash and scratched interior parts as well. The service Tech said they would replace the scratched dash and would call me when the part is in. Never received any call, called them back 3 times with no reply. Had my car in for a tire leak issue. They called and said two tires needed to be replaced so I told them to please replace them. I picked up the car and found that the new tires were balanced as the old wheel weights were still on the rim. Travis the service manager was very nice and concerned about the issue. He admitted the tech had asked someone else to balance the tires and install them but it was not done. Travis delivered the vehicle to my home and also re-balanced all 4 tires. read more

I special ordered a new 2013 C-Max hybrid with a couple of dealer installed options. One of these options was a remote starter, the other was a "cargo organizer package". I was called on Oct 3rd saying my car had arrived and was ready for pickup. I bought the car and later realized the remote start hadn't been installed. I called them and they had me take back the car the next morning to have it installed. They said it would be a 2 to 4 hour job. After waiting at the dealership for nearly 5 hours it turns out they weren't even close to being done, and that I would have to come back later that day. I got a call later saying that they would have to keep the car over the weekend to install it and that I could have the car back Monday. Monday I go to pick up the car and see that the antenna for the remote start was placed in the windshield rather than the back glass. It looked terribly out of place and was a huge eyesore. I also was told that the remote start didn't work and that I was expected to take it back at a later date so they could apply a patch to make it work. Then I discover that they didn't even install the right remote start system! I asked for a refund for the remote start and they agreed. Two days later they remove the remote start and scratch the interior of my new car in the process, and left adhesive on the windshield from the antenna. The cargo organizer package was also the wrong item so they agreed to refund that as well. They had previously informed me that I was due a partial refund for my registration since I transferred a tag but paid for a new one. So I am expecting refunds for the remote starter, the cargo package, and the registration. Several days later I contact Gary Smith Ford to inquire about the refund. They tell me I have to contact Ford since the problems "concern them". I contacted Ford customer relations, who basically wondered why I was complaining to them as this was a dealer issue. So I am in the beginning stages of the run-around. There were many other areas where Gary Smith Ford screwed up with this transaction, but they were at least manageable with little to no monetary impact. If I could give Gary Smith Ford Service Department in Ft Walton Beach FL a negative star, I'd do it. I went in for an oil change. I was on time for my scheduled appointment, actually 10 min early. Firstly, they told me it would be an hour. I came back after an hour and the man told me it would be 10 more minutes. I waited for 20 minutes more and went back to the desk. The man said there is a post that the lug nut screws onto that has been "cross threaded by whoever did the oil change last time" and I need a new post. Cost $5. I waited 45 more minutes and went back to the desk. The man said it will be 5 more minutes, so I decided to wait at his desk in front of him. He finally brings me out to where my truck is up on the lift and tells me the whole rotor assembly is pressure sealed and they cannot replace just the one post without breaking the seal and replacing the whole assembly. "Probably a $200-$300 part plus labor". The mechanic said they were trying to figure out a way NOT to tell me about it. I do not believe that this was done before. I think this 19 yr old kid was put on a simple oil change and screwed up the threads on the post and now is trying to cover it up. They were not forth right about telling me this when they found it. Only 2.5 hours after I've been waiting and continuously went back to the desk asking if my truck was ready. They are TERRIBLE here! Do not come here for service! I am in the market for a new car but I won't be buying it from here with this kind of service department!!! read more

They require you to put a star otherwise there wouldn't be one. I never take the time to post a review but after reading other on this site I felt I needed to comment. My daughter started working at the age of 14. She saved her money and with a little help from me, her father, when she was a senior in high school she bought a 4 year old Ford Escape. She is still working and is paying her way through college. She has a 4.0 and is half way through her sophomore year. When she got home this summer she said her cruise control was not working. Since it's a six hour interstate drive home from school she needs the cruse control. So today she took it in to be repaired. Gary Smith Ford said they trouble shot it and it was the "activation" switch. ($187) to fix. So she said ok. Then they call and say the brakes need to be fixed, the brake rotors need to be turned. She said no. Then they call and say "after replacing the deactivation switch we found that the cruise control actuator is at fault as well ($482.65 plus $135 labor). She called me in tears. They failed to fix the problem, gave her a quote that didn't work, tried to get other business, it's still broke and she has to work 42 hours to pay ($187) for nothing. Not that they will ever know but next year she was going to buy a newer ford car and I was looking at the new F-150s. NOT NOW! read more

One of the poorest experiences I've had at a car dealership. Went in to get an oil change. I use an unusual oil so I took my own oil. After showing the techni tigon my oil he used house oil. While my oil was being changed I looked at new trucks and found a truck I wanted to buy. The salesman gave me a price that was very fair. I told him I would think about it over night and he proceeded to tell me I had wasted his managers time because I was going to think about it over night. I purchased our last vehicle from Gary Smith 14 years ago so you could say we got a great "ride" out of it! I really didn't know what I wanted but Mark did a great job gathering information to give me several options to test drive to get a feel for what I would like. He was so knowledgeable about all of the features and explained the newer technology and all of the benefits along with the safety features and made sure I got all of the info I needed. I drove off in a brand new car after a few negations and am very pleased with the price. Steven from the Finance Office was just awesome- so efficient and made everything so easy. This was not my first car, but it was my first brand new car! I stopped in Gary Smith's dealership to test drive the new 2015 Ford Focus ST. I found two cars in the local area and since I was also looking for a VW GTI, I went to Pensacola to test drive both cars. The Ford dealer in Pensacola wouldn't let me drive the ST because it was blocked off on a display pad so I left, their loss. I knew Gary Smith had one so I went there instead. I made a phone call to the dealership and spoke to Jarred a sales rep, told them I was coming to look at the car. I met with Jarred, and he handed me off to another employee to go on the test drive, since he had another customer. After I got back Jarred met me and asked me how I liked it. I told him that for the right price I would walk out of the dealership today with the car. He started off with above the MSRP for the car, claiming it was because of how "special" the car was, and the dealer had an almost $4000 mark up on the car. I was absolutely not going to pay that and after some more back and forth negotiations we got the price down to below factory invoice. If you are buying you need to do your research and it doesn't matter what dealership you go to, they are there to make money. I said that if I bought the car today I would have to get my current car traded in and 100% of the loan must be paid off. They crunched some numbers and gave me just an OK price for the trade, but enough to pay off the loan. Since I got the car for a good price I decided not to press the trade value and accepted the offer. I then went to the finance guy named John and he took very good care of me, even duplicating some forms that my wife wanted to be a part of. I am a person who loves customer service, and willing to pay just that little extra for businesses that provide that kind of care. EVERYONE in the dealership had a very professional attitude and treated me and my wife with the utmost respect. I know there are low reviews on this dealership but I can only speak to how they treated me. I will continue to use this dealership for all repairs and scheduled maintenance for as long as the customer service remains high, which I predict it will. Bunch of clowns in the service department here. Spoke to a girl over the phone named "Tracy" there about getting a copy of my car's warranty paperwork. She said she would be glad to leave a print out of my warranty details for me at the service desk for me to pick up. So I went to the service desk to pick up my warranty paperwork, and the service manager there was totally clueless. Even the woman sitting behind him who said she was in the warranty department was clueless too. (BTW her only response was, "Well, who did you talk to you? You didn't talk to me!") Dismissed me by saying that my car was still under a bumper to bumper warranty and there is no such thing as warranty paperwork. Really? Like I'm supposed to be satisfied with that answer? I wanted to read the paperwork because there is always fine-print. I contacted FORD HQ directly and got the paper work myself. I also inquired about resetting my keyless entry. The service manager told me it would cost $80. That seems a little steep. So I walked out. I researched how to do this and figured it out on my own and did it myself. It requires a factory issued number that comes with the car. He didn't bother asking me if I had that number but was more than happy to tell me the charge was $80 so they could do it for me. I left honestly because it is pointless to deal with people who have no problem-solving abilities. I won't be back. I'd rather take my car to get serviced in the next town or state. read more

I'm a huge fan of Ford cars. My two cars were both new purchases from Ford (not Gary Smith). My brother is a Ford Master Technician. As you can imagine, my expectations of the brand are very, very high. Furthermore, because of my brother I have allot of insight to Ford Service and how the cars are maintained, repaired, etc. One day in particular, my key fobs were falling apart. The covers to the battery were falling off. Mind you, these are brand new so it should be covered under warranty, Right? Apparently, the service tech didn't believe they were covered under the warranty. He didn't have anything to back it up. Just a hunch. He said he had to ask his manager. After showing his keys to his manger (behind closed doors) he mentions the slight scratches in the key fob and say these are damaged. I asked if they make cover for key fobs. He doesn't understand the question. I asked where keys are normally carried. Another blank look. This was my answer, "keys are carried in your pockets. You know what else is carried in your pockets that often scratch other items in your pockets? Coins, wallets, cell phones, pens, OTHER KEYS!" He then explained that if he were to replace the keys, they were going to cost about $200 a piece and if it's not covered, then it comes out of his paycheck. Lie #1. He further explained that the charge to reprogram the keys was about $500. That's lie #2. I corrected him on both counts. IIn the unlikely scenario Ford doesn't cover it under warranty, then the dealership would be responsible, not the employee. I've talked to several managers at other dealerships and they found that laughable. The second lie I knew without even needing to double-check. I can reprogram the fobs myself and you do NOT need a computer to do it. I've done this several times on my other ford. You just need one of the existing fobs to do so. It's a very simple process. My brother who is a Master Technician said he hardly ever used the computer to program fobs, only when none of the fobs are available. This was obviously not the case. I relayed that to the Gary Smith Ford Technician, and he maintained his line, "you'll brick your car" I literally laughed at him. At that point, it was obvious that entire visit was pointless. I took my keys back and when I visited my brother's dealership, the replaced the keys, no questions asked. The manager mentioned that I should make mention of this to the corporate office, they are an embarrassment to the Ford brand. On another visit, I produced a coupon for an oil change and I specified exactly what package I wanted. Then later when I went to go pick up my vehicle, they charged for their premium package. After arguing for several minutes, then getting the manager involved, and producing the coupon again, they reduced the price accordingly. I've visited Gary Smith about 6 times for service or warranty work. I can honestly say, I've NEVER gotten WORSE service at any Ford dealership before. Like I said, I'm a huge fan of Ford, but, I'll visit a competitor's dealership before ever stepping into that service department ever again. read more

When I went back the next day, the first sales person was busy, so I got handed to another sales rep who was the typical used car salesman. Purchased a 18 f150 from gsf didn't get to test drive the truck before the salesman pushed us in to signing papers. Witch pissed me off !, because they said it was in detail at 7 pm still. ok fine! new truck should be perfect right! wrong! good thing! ide never purchased it after driving it because of the bad whistle/whine in the transmission alone. now it's got a knock in it. took it in let service counter guy hear the videos of the knock he laughs and tells me it sounds like a diesel Then 15 min later he tells me it's normal! bs they didn't even check the oil! it's was a quart low and still is according to my eyes! But hey maby the oil is only supposed to be on just the tip of the stick after sitting all night ! But they said it's normal! and nothing was wrong! wasn't offered a loaner. after taking our 44k! They got there money! but they did offer to give me the number for enterprise rentals. That was nice. wtf!!! we only had a month! Why I haven't always brought my vehicle to the service department at Gary Smith Ford I have no idea. They clearly have more knowledge on how to fix a GMC than the actual GMC people. I had an alarm tell me "shut engine down, losing oil pressure." Pretty clear message, so I took it in to the GMC dealer, one week of evaluation they basically said engine is dead, could cost $3000 to open, and figure out but diagnosis is catastrophic. Basically your truck is now worthless. I then took the truck to Ford in FWB, within 24hrs got a call that it's a simple filter. How did they know that? Well, they pulled all TSB's (technical service bulletins) and also consulted with another out of market GMC, and both said that alarm is likely a clogged filter...replace it, and should fix the issue. That's what they did, and it's fixed. Why the GMC didn't pull a TSB have no idea. If you have a high mileage car and it is not a FORD, I would totally recommend Gary Smith Ford to service your vehicle. Their staff clearly knows how to attack problems, and figure it out...I can't imagine how well they take care of actual Ford's, I will when this truck is gone, and I get a Ford though. Thanks GSF! So here is my experience with Gary Smith Ford. My husband and I went to Panama City Beach Florida on vacation. While there we had trouble with my husbands truck. We were on our way to Fort Walton Beach to go to a restaurant that we really like, so we took the truck to the nearest dealership due to the warranty that we have. They were not going to be able to have it done by the time that we needed to leave, so we rented a car and drove back home until it could be fixed. To make a long story short they fixed the truck and called and said that it was ready. My husband had to catch a flight and it was delayed so he called the dealership to make payment in case the service department was closed when he got there as he was leaving as soon as he picked up the truck to head back home. He did arrive after the service department closed so he got his keys and left for home. When he got home we looked at the bill and were astounded to find that they were paid above and beyond what was due to them. When we got the rental car to come home the service center asked that we send them the receipt and they would try to get us reimbursed for it. Much to our surprise the charge for the rental car, which we paid for, was included on our bill!! The total charges were labor $505.00, parts $269.29, rental car $223.97 (remember we paid for this out of our pocket), rental car $30 (which we did not pay for) and sales tax $18.90. This comes to a grand total of $1047.16. If you subtract the $223.97 for the rental car that we paid for ourselves the total is $823.19. They received compensation from our warranty company in the amount of $878.76 and then had the audacity to charge us $168.40!!!! Now I'm not a genius but according to my calculations they were over compensated by $223.97!! I took my car in for an obvious need to change the ignition. Told me that it "might just be a switch" so they needed to check it out for $45. Turns out that if it's the switch you still have to replace the ignition. Then tells me it will be $700-800 for the work. It's a $400 part, when I decline decides to tell me that there is an after market Napa part available so that will "save" me an additional $150 because that part is $250. I went to Napa and the part is actually $115. Also, I thought they damaged my car. Instead of saying, I can see why you think that might have been us the manager berated me, was insolent and ugly. I was upset and probably not behaving well, but I am the customer and if you treat me with some courtesy maybe I would realize it was all my fault for walking into a dealership in the first place, never again..... read more

Regular Snowbird needing an oil change. Called and talked to their scheduler and had to wait 5 days for an appointment. Seriously?! For an oil change? Made the appointment for 0930 five days later and showed up early and told them I would wait. After an hour and a half I asked if there was a problem. They said they were a little backed up. Over two hours after I brought it in I got my car back. The smiling young man apologized and said their online scheduling system over booked them, their scheduler and online system don't interface. I told him that was ridiculous. He said next time in he would take care of me and I said there won't be a next time. You see folks, last year I here the same story but it only took an hour and a half. read more

Take you car anyplace but here! Had my thermostat replaced on 3 Feb 16 ($500.00) and a month later had radiator fluid leaking all over the ground at work. Had to have car towed and was told that I would need to have the thermostat housing replaced ($685.00 includes towing what a deal). When I asked why would the thermostat housing crack I was told "Your car is old." It didn't have a crack before the thermostat was replaced. Then the genius behind the counter said that I should have had a new housing installed when they changed out my thermostat. So long story short I am out over a thousand dollars and I will Never take my car to Gary Smith to be worked on again, also will never buy a car from them. Unfortunately you can't give ZERO stars for a rating. I am retired military and will definitely make sure others know about my experience with these crooks! read more

My parents bought a brand new 2016 Ford Escape last weekend at Scary Stiff (Gary Smith) Ford. Less than 24 hours later it broke down at the busiest intersection in town, stranding a 64, 73, and 75 year old in the Florida heat waiting for a tow truck. All the staff has done is cite the Florida Lemon Laws and inform them of everything they are not entitled to. I am pretty sure most dealerships would offer something to repeat customers and 50 year Ford owners to help assure them that the dealer stands by its products. All they have received is unacceptable rude comments from the "General Manager" treating them like they have done something wrong. I don't care if my parents were the most rude people on Earth (they most certainly are far from it), the way they were treated by the GM was beyond imaginable for a place that makes it money from public sales. In the end, the warranty covered the repairs, but nothing will cover the lost value in the vehicle due to major maintenance being performed so early. If you like a dealership who believes in the minimum and treating you like dog poo as soon as the transaction is over then this is your dealership. If you want a dealer who is going to treat you like someone who just spent 10's of thousands of dollars at their store and will go beyond the minimum to make you happy, STAY AWAY from Gary Smith Ford. read more
