I took my car in early (7:55) for my 1045 appointment because I had wrrands to run. However I did not get a call that my car was done until 4:57pm saying it was done. I showed up to get my car at 630pm and were told that the service department closed at 530, and doesnt open at all on the weekends. I was without my car for an entire weekend because no one informed me that I needed to hurry up and come get my car. When I got there to get the car I requested to speak with the service manager come to find out the guy that was handling my car was the service manager. I informed him of everything that went on and how I really didnt appreciate his lack of customer service. And he explained to me how appointments aren't appointments to meet with the mechanic but to drop your car off with him. Ridiculous read more

A true lifesaver! Was on vacation with family when AC fan blower decided to stay on high. So it was either drive with no AC-heat or open windows at 75 MPH. Called Gary Smith Ford, had the part at a reasonable price. The best part was that one of their service managers named LEON was kind enough to loan me some tools to make the repair in the parking lot. Bought a new car this fall. Was quoted a price and applied for the financing for that amount. When it was delivered, dealership increased the price by 10% and told us to take it or leave it, they had plenty of other customers that wanted the car, even though it had been ordered for us. They even laughed at us when we tried to get them to honor their deal. Will never buy from them again or buy another Ford product. Beware when you enter their property. read more

This is what service is all about! My son and 5 friends were on a road trip from Wisconsin to Florida to stay at our place. While they are adult age, they are not old enough to rent a car and took my 2018 Ford Explorer on the road trip. While there, they experienced some troubles and got several warnings lights. This is where the story is bad....He called a Ford Dealership closest to where they were staying (Autonation), after waiting on hold, having call drop and then finally being transferred to Billy in the service department at AutoNation. My son explained the situation-- he was 1500 miles from home, and needed to be able to make sure the car was safe to drive as they would not be able to rent a car to get back home if needed. Billy could not have been more rude to him, basically saying "Tough luck. We dont' have any appointments for 3 weeks" We then called my brother who manages a Ford Dealership in Wisconsin for some advice to see if he could ask his service advisor if this was a minor issue or needed immediate attention. He could not diagnose over the phone but offered to call AutoNation and speak to Billy himself to explain this was an emergent situation because it could cause 6 boys to be stranded 1500 miles from home, with no where to stay if they had to extend their trip and no way to rent a car (as they were just under the age to be able to rent a hotel room or car). My brother called me back to tell me that Billy was also very rude to him and unwilling to do a favor for another dealership. Billy mentioned that he would call my son back to "see what he could do" but he never called him. This is where the story takes a turn for the positive! We then called Gary Smith Ford in Fort Walton Beach. This was not the most convenient location for us as it was 90 minutes away, but we had no choice since AutoNation was unwilling to help us, and incredibly rude to both my son and my brother. Gary Smith Ford could not have been more understanding and accommodating. Jared in the service department at Gary Smith Ford was wonderful and understanding and Despite having a full schedule, they had a service tech come in a little early the next day to help us out. When the problem was located, they sent someone to drive 60 minutes each way to get the part so that the car could be fixed that day. THAT is great service. Billy at AutoNation needs an attitude adjustment. Jared at Gary Smith Ford needs a bonus. I am incredibly grateful for the great service I received at Gary Smith Ford. This was a situation that could have been really bad and Jared and Gary Smith Ford's care and willingness to help us out saved the trip! read more

My family came to Destin on vacation.. and our car had a code pop up on the dashboard. This specific code is a simple fix that can be done in an hour. We called this location to ask for help and get some advice on what to do. I don't know the mans name directly on the phone, but this call started with the man saying "My brain is not working this morning, I am off" .. he had a bad attitude. He said he could not help us and that they are backed up. We understood this, but my dad kindly explained his situation and that we would maybe like to receive recommendations. This worker straight up said "no I don't know anyone and no one is available" "y'all might as well get a rental back to Texas and drive back here when it's ready". So thank you for no recommendations, no help, and a bad attitude from the get go! We happily found someone to help us at another certified service place. Worst experience in my life with buying a vehicle..Bought a 2018 f150 with only 48k miles on it and in just 4 days it went into limp mode and had to tow it back to them at my expense after dropping 42k on the truck. I get a call after a few days and they said it was ready and i go to pick it up and the motor cover was slung into the back bed of my truck!!! This is Ford service center we are talking about not some shade tree mechanic you would think ill put a picture of that below.. so i leave with it anyways and 30mins on the road the motor goes back into limp mode these idiots didn't even tighten down the clamp that goes to the air intake so the hose just popped off completely.. i am dealing with all this the week of my wedding !!!! So they did send a guy to come get it and gave me a vehicle to drive but still i should not have been dealing with any of this in the first place the truck up to that point had literal been in the shop longer than i had the vehicle ..ridiculous! So they "fix it" supposedly what it was they put another band aid on it so i would not take their rental on my honey moon so when i get it back for the 3rd time it still has a po305 misfire code on it unbelievable this place is even in business so i will be taking it somewhere else to get it looked at instead of these clowns...Not to mention after i got my truck back for the 3rd time ...these people are calling me while i am on my honey moon about a missing part that they forgot to put on my truck or something when it was in the shop and kept calling me reminding me every day while I'm supposed to be on my HONEY MOON about how they screwed me out of my money... Growing up with a grandfather owning a car dealership and a father who bought cars for a living, I had zero intention of buying my F250 from Gary Smith Ford. None. Nada. Zip. I had a list of local dealerships I was going to look at and websites to do truck research on. As I drive the lot, Jay "desperately" waved me down to talk to him. His personality is what got me out of my truck, not what the trucks I saw on the lot. After telling exactly what I wanted and what I didn't he showed me two of the Lariats available. Telling Jay my buying background and knowledge of the buying process we made a deal on a new truck. I got exactly what I wanted at the price I was wanting to pay and He made his first ever sale. Bad side, took all day to get the deal done. I know dealerships are in the business of getting top dollar to make a profit, haggling should not be a part of the process. Be ready to walk away if the price isn't what you want. I do feel everything was done to get top dollar, but I was prepared to walk away. Tried to make an oil change appointment. I'm told there is now a first come ghost serve policy for oil changes. That's great of your are first or second in line first thing in the morning. Imagine driving 40/45 minutes to get an oil change and being 4/5 in line. 4 hours later you might be on the road again. Talk about now giving a darn about your customers time. I bought a part through there web site FordDiscountParts.com. It was wrong . now they wont let me return. At first the parts manager told me . They weren't FordDiscountParts .com. But Gary Smith Ford is who the payment went to off my card. But when I asked if there was someone at FordDiscountPart.com . that I could talk to the parts manager at Gary Smith's . Told me it was him. He also said I could sell the part on E bay. when I told him . That I didn't know what it fit. he told me to take it to a Ford dealer and ask them. We purchased a used 2017 F150 and opted out of the extra warranty because we felt comfortable with all the information we were given by our sales agent, Jared Hall. We were told how ALL vehicles don't leave their lot without being serviced and have new or almost new tires. And I have our FB messaging conversations stating all of this. We felt comfortable by our decision because of what we were told by Jared. The evening of our 1 1/2 hour drive home from the dealership, the low-tire pressure light came on, we visually checked it and continued on home because it was dark. The next day we inspected the tires and noticed the date on the tires. Every tire made has the month, week and year stamped on them and our tires read year 2017 which indicates our tires were not even "almost new", they're 5 years old. We should have checked before leaving dealership but we believed what we were told, and that will cost us 4 new tires now. Upon the very next day of driving the truck, we started having issues with it, we took it back to Gary Smith for repairs twice, and made several phone calls to the different managers. At this point they agreed to split the repair cost and we paid $1200. A couple days later the truck was doing the exact same thing, we left messages for the manager, Trey, and sent emails to Gary Smith and Tim Smith and still no answer. Finally we drove back over there and were told any other repairs were on our own. At this point we had to have it towed to a local mechanic shop and ended up paying another $4700 for repairs. He also took pictures of parts to show us and questioned how they could be damaged so quickly if this is what was just replaced during the previous repairs a couple days earlier at the dealership! We emailed Gary and Tim Smith again, and even tried to call them but never heard from either. By now a month has gone by and we've made a payment before we could even drive our new truck! We don't want anyone to go through what we've been though, so make sure to check the date on the tires, carefully check the warranty, and know that some dealerships give you 30 days to return the vehicle, not this one though. They also left all the previous owner's personal info in the truck. So we contacted him and asked him some questions, but at this point the transaction was over. We are now in the process of sending him his personal info so he can pursue what he decides legally to do with this being left in the truck. We were also given a little bit different info from him than we were told from the dealership. We were gullible in believing what we were told by Gary Smith Ford. And were very surprised by the lack of customer service, still to this day have never received any returns emails or returned calls! All we wanted was our truck fixed and for words to be honored that we were told. read more

As usual, GS Service fails. They in properly diagnosed a problem. Tried to say the first place we took car was wrong. Only reason I stopped here was because check engine came on outside dealer. So I mistakenly pulled in. And out of foolishness, trusted them. They convinced me the brand new alternator was the issue. And because it wasn't OEM Ford part was a fault. Turns out the new non oem alternator was perfectly fine, and the issue was my computer. Use GULF BREEZE AUTOMOTIVE instead of the service at Gary Smith. You can not beat a good honest mechanic. I came here for 1 pm appointment. I was told it can't be done til 2 hours maybe, could be. I asked her about making appointments they could've at least give a courtesy call if there's other vehicles ahead of me to let me know at least. I was told depending on who called in sick etc or what type of service the car needs. It not really my obligation to know that or maybe there's a tech who does a simple oil change I don't know.Your customer is also expecting service done close to the given schedule at least and not wait for 2 hours. There's a reason why appointments are being made. You can also inform your customer regarding appointments that it will take longer to have service done. Any help for the customer right? I called to ask for the lady's name in front I was transferred to another lady accusing me that I stormed off because I was upset. If you hear my conversation with her she said there's nothing she can do that's why I left ok? I was rushing to finish my 1 hour lunch break so I can find other car service who can better assist me. She told me I did not give her a chance to help me again the lady said NOTHING SHE CAN DO! I turn around and went back to my car. I will not be coming back anyway but this is an example of a bad customer service on your part. read more

By far my worst experience at a Ford dealership. I took my vehicle in because of a coolant temperature issue. Arrived at 7:30 that morning for a chaotic drop off and told it would be diagnosed that day. I had to call at 4:45 to find out where my truck was in the process, and was told they haven't even diagnosed it yet maybe tomorrow. Got a call at 8:30 the next morning stating they finally figured out the issue and wanted to go ahead with the repair for a whopping $698. I reluctantly said yes and immediately starting researching the part and repairs cost. Found that it would be cheaper to do it somewhere else and just purchase the part myself. Called back to Ford to cancel the service but they "already started working on it". I had someone drive up there to check on it 5min later to find out it is sitting in the parking lot. I went to Ford and demanded my truck back and was told it was done already (how convenient). I asked for an itemized listing of everything they were charging for only to find out they were over charging me for labor! Best part of it was the guy tried to argue that everything was correct. Horrible customer service but because I am a Gentleman I will not name names. If it wasn't for the Service Manager Drew I would have been another victim to dealerships taking advantage of customers. The ONLY reason I use GSF is because of my warranty. I made an appointment for 1 pm to get my transmission looked over. I was told they MAY NOT even get to it today because they were so swamped; I should have just left, but figured they'd get to it eventually. I call back at 5 pm to check on it and they hadn't looked at it. I assume they continued to take drive-ins for oils changes, but they need to learn how to prioritize and say NO MORE and focus on the appointment vehicles. This is my daily driver and some of us work hard and have to take paid time off for these, which is why we make appointments! If it wasn't for my family working in Ford, this dealership would prompt me to leave the Ford Family completely, I've had several instances of warranty work needed, and to get it done it felt like I was taking money out there own pockets. In fact one of the service reps, even said as much. Shortly after purchasing my Fusion (NOT from this dealership), I had a set of keys that were defective as the battery covers would not stay on. Therefore, as part of warranty, I wanted them replaced. This dealership would not honor the Ford warranty. They also claimed to reprogram a new set would cost me $500. 2 lies! 1st, a defect is covered by the initial 36K warranty (says very clearly in the paperwork), and you don't need to "plug in a computer" to program the keys. You just need a current master key to create a new master key. Then after an hour of arguing with them, the service rep said to me, if I replace these keys for you and Ford doesn't cover it, it comes out of my pay check. LIES!!!! I asked my brother who is a Master Tech at Fa Ford Dealership in another state, and he said that was the most false thing he's ever heard from a dealership. that NEVER happens. Don't trust this dealership, ESPECIALLY the service department. read more

I have been buying both new and used cars about every 3 years or less since 2004 and this was the BEST experience I've ever had!!! They were so wonderful. My salesman was Adam who was new and I told him a brief description of what I was looking for and the first car he showed me I fell in love with! They took off about $3,500 to get me in a payment I could afford. The biggest surprise was how fast they made it happen. I've never bought a car without it taking at least 3 miserable hours, here it was 1 hour! They also provided snacks! That helps too. The finance guy really worked with me to make sure I got everything I needed as well. I scheduled a regular maintenance check for my car at 7:30 am. 2 1/2 hours after waiting in the lounge, I decided to go and ask about my car. When I asked how much longer, they proceeded to tell me it would be another 45 mins until they can even start on my car. They obviously neglected to inform me earlier that they were apparently short staffed even after I had a standing appointment therefore affecting my ability to get to work absolutely disregarding me as a customer and putting a burden on my work day. I went to buy a truck today and they didn't think I'd catch their slick overcharge of $2550 in the final paper work. I initially negotiated the dealer price on the truck down, not including rebates. (It was very clear that I was negotiating the dealer price with no respect to rebates) After sitting in the finance room, they were rushing to get the truck detailed and didn't think I'd catch what they did. They marked the dealer price up $2,550 (same as rebates) from what I initially had it negotiated down to. When I asked about it, they tried to show me that the price was with the rebates included (same price as the rebates) and thought I wouldn't realize what they did. I walked out. Be careful when you go here, because they'll work the numbers and you may not catch it if you don't know exactly what you should be paying. read more

Connected disabled veterans & we traded for 2New vehicles & our DV Plates should have been transferred & we kept telling them they were doing the paperwork wrong & they kept arguing with us. I found out they had charged us for the registrations which we are exempt from paying & it cost me $52 to get this corrected as well as hours on the phone & weeks to get my registrations corrected. I kept asking them to fix it & all I got was a form emailed to me & Courtney telling me it wasn't her responsibility to correct it! How many disabled veterans have these people RIPPED OFF???? Don't know where to begin, met a wonderful salesman John Woodard in the parking lot. I thought for sure we would buy a car from him. Everything about him was awesome. He was running his booty off to make a sale. Then his manager Fred stepped into the picture to help him close the deal and boy did Fred think I was a women that didn't know what I was talking about and boy was he wrong!! He tried to give me 10,000. Less for my jeep and was trying to hurry me up. Where he went wrong was he told me he called where I bought it and they offered to buy it back from him, but 10,000 less than what I paid. I called the place I bought it and they said no they offered him what I paid since if was only 2 wks ago. When I talked to Fred on the phone he apologized and thought his car buyer called but said he he just estimated. So long story short, he tried to make 10,000 on my trade and over charge for the car I was looking at. WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS THERE AGAIN!! I also bought cars there before. Plus as we sat there and talked he told me how he was in the mortgage business and charged all these points on the back and made tons of money. Just made me open my eyes and listen!! I just bought my first Ford, a 2019 Explorer, at Gary Smith. I walked on the lot to "just look". AARON ODLE was our salesman. He is the most informed/trained car salesman that I have ever dealt with. No matter the question about whatever vehicle (as I looked at the Escape, Edge and Explorer), he knew the answer. He was friendly and easy to be around. Once I found my vehicle, he hustled to make a deal I couldn't refuse. For finance, we dealt with JOHN CRANE. He was equally great at his job. Whatever question I threw his way (I ask a lot of questions), he took time to answer them with complete confidence. He was very patient, and a pleasure to work with. TREY CATE delivered my vehicle to me, showing me my way around, connecting my cell phone, and setting things up for me - way after hours - again, a very informed/trained employee.
