Your landmark is Solley Rd, There were all kinds of plants, a really huge selection and being late in the season, they were drastically reduced. On this particular visit, I wanted a Bay leaf tree. It feels cramped inside, and there isn't a lot of room for a cart or moving around too much. Still, they have a ton of gardening and decorating products, especially around Christmastime! We were actually here to see Santa, since we couldn't book him at the other location. But, I'm glad we checked it out. They have a Rise Up coffee shop attached too, which was convenient. Made for a nice little treat after shopping. I really don't have a lot else to say. It's still hit-or-miss as far as value is concerned. Some items seem vastly overpriced, and others are more reasonable. You'll pay more for seasonal items, of course, but check back after said season is over (or close to its end), and you can find some very good bargains. The customer service is on par as well. Very friendly staff who are helpful and approachable. Never had an issue with service at Homestead! Overall, great garden shop in Severna Park, and were it closer, I'd be a regular here instead. I love their holiday train setup in the back as well! I say that jokingly because my parents are long time customers of the Wild Bird Center and they have a plethora of bird feeders and often discuss the flock of native birds that visit them. Have you ever seen that Geico commercial where the old lady is telling her son over the phone about the squirrels in the attic while he's being chased by bad guys on a skyscraper rooftop? Yeah, its kinda like that with my parents telling me about their birds at the most importune time. Anyway, I've digressed, significantly. In search of some bird feeder related items for my parents I visited the Wild Bird Center in Park Plaza for the first time in December. I am so sorry I didn't visit sooner. This store is fantastic! As the name implies, they have plenty of quality bird feeders and a variety of bird seed that is appropriate for the local birds. I was in search of seed for my parents' Squirrel Buster bird feeder that would attract little cute birds and not make a mess. The staff was able to immediately point me to the best seed for that scenario. With my errand complete, I then enjoyed looking around the store at garden decor, hand painted ornaments, wind chimes, books, and such, I think I might even have seen some bees wax products. As far as the staff goes, they are delightful and helpful! I really enjoyed their welcoming and positive spirit and all of my interactions with them. The outside area is a typical garden plant area, with a heavy emphasis on native and bee friendly plants (though you can also find roses, fall mums, herbs, and other garden plants). You'll find some unusual plants mixed though, like 8,483 different varieties of bee balm (I'm not really good at estimates, but that seems right to me), ironweed, meadow sage, and the like. Inside, there's an interesting "country shop," where you can purchase honey and beeswax candles, as well as preserves, unique sodas (Sarsaparilla, anyone?), and some fruits and vegetables. Being focused also on bees, you can also purchase beekeeping supplies here, too. All of the plants I've bought have done really well, and I really enjoy grabbing a cold soft drink, too!

I mistakenly drove around to the commercial side and had to turn around to get back to the non-commercial area. There were lots of wheeled carts of different sizes. Everything is laid out according to types of plants and their needs - very efficient. I only spoke to three employees, two at some length, and they were so friendly and helpful - big plus for me! I take my business elsewhere if I don't feel welcome. Here's a little oddity that you want to watch out for: GPS kept wanting me to turn onto a side road next to an auto dealership, on the wrong side of Highway 301. (This was coming south from Gambrills/Crofton.) I submitted a correction, but till they fix it be aware the nursery is on the east side of the highway, sort of opposite the auto dealership.
