Great service today. I had a leaking toilet valve (wall) and it was disconnected to the toilet fill valve. Leak was filling up a small/medium container every 15 minutes. Really gone downhill since son took over. Have used Gary's twice - the first time the father did the work, and while a little expensive, did a very thorough job and highly experienced. However, the second time, the son had taken over and was inexperienced at that time - 2015, but has bothered me all this time! He had to call his dad to figure out what to do - no problem with that but I got charged for all his time. We had a plumbing stoppage and a failed garbage disposal. Tried going through my Home Warranty, but they couldn't find a tech to help me in any reasonable amount of time. I called numerous plumbing companies, but getting anyone to me in less than a week (or more) was next to impossible. After a full 8 days with no use of our kitchen sink, my warranty company finally agreed to let me go out of network. But then came my next problem.... No one wants to go out of their way to do the extra steps it takes for home warranty reimbursement. It's a call and a detailed invoice. That's it. But nobody wanted to do it, which means I would have been all out of pocket. Then enter Gary's Plumbing. Donald was thorough during our first call and upfront about his fees for labor and parts. I knew I'd be paying out of pocket initially, but at least I had an idea of what to expect. Not only that, but Donald was able to provide service the very same day. He was patient with the warranty company as they asked him numerous questions about the claim. I know it was a hassle, but Donald was so sincere and genuine. I could tell that he had his customer's best interest in mind. And in the service industry, that's just hard to find these days. I'm well pleased with this company, 1. I called them at 2:30pm and they came to my residence by 5:00pm. They called me 1/2 hour before they were on their way. 2. Donald the plumber was very professional, he snaked the line many times until he was able to clear the drain... He didn't stop just there, he decided to snaked the line a second time with a bigger cutter to make sure that there were boing to be no more issues. 3. He advices for me to follow some steps to avoid bigger expenses in the future, he gave me a reason why these steps are important and how to avoid clogs in the drain. 4. He showed concern for my house and for my money, unlike someone else would've just done a quick fix and not worry about what will happen after he was done. 5. This plumber was very professional. 5 Stars. I have owned a home for quite some time and have rental properties as well. I have used Gary multiple times at each residence and have always been more than happy with his expertise and service. He just got done replacing a wax gasket on a toilet in the master bathroom. Gary is a great man who takes pride in what he does. He's been at this for over 30 years and there has never been a plumbing issue he has not been able to fix. He is not the cheapest guy you will find, BUT, he is far from the most expensive. In life you have to weigh the benefits of the job provided with the cost associated (smart people do this). His price is very respectable and charges less than what you will be quoted from other big name plumbing companies. He is not going to kiss your rear end and speak baby talk to you on a service call, if you want that then you should think about growing up a little bit because the world is not going to be nice to you. Not sure what happened with Jan and her situation, but Gary is a very respectable buy who will do right by you and more than anything do a great job. He's fast, efficient, and business oriented. As someone who owns multiple rentals, and uses this man exclusively for plumbing problems, I would vouch for his work any day of the week and twice on Sunday. read more

I meant to write this review a couple of months ago but am just now getting around to it since we had a couple separate issues we needed checked out--which of course we called Gary's Plumbing for again. So a couple of months ago our water heater's pilot light constantly went out and so Gary and his son came out to fix it and it was good as new as soon as they were done! Professional, courteous, knowledgable and skilled. Price was reasonable and the work was done quickly and efficiently. As for the issues we called him for this time--we had a couple of toilets that would overflow a lot, two sinks and a shower that wouldn't drain. Gary came over and took care of all of those issues, replaced a few parts and was on his way in just an hour. Second time that we've had a great experience with him. Very unpleasant man.... 0 stars if I was possible ...I was having trouble with my water heater and after all the reviews here I decided to give Gary a call and asked him if he could come check it out ....that was at 11am after he said yes I waited almost all day and at 7pm I called another plumbing agency because I needed my water heater fixed and they came in less than 30 mins fixed it and left .... Gary calls me at 10pm and says he is coming to my home... I explained to him that I had hired someone else and the problem was fixed and he got upset started yelling at me about canceling appointment like if his time is more important than mine I told him I thought he wasn't coming and forgot about me because I called him 11 hrs ago. He just kept getting more upset very unprofessional so I told him to lose my number and that I didn't need his services anymore There is no way I will ever call him again I don't care how many good reviews he has read more

Wow! After reading the great reviews, I decided to give them a call - we had a clog somewhere in our main from the house out to the street. Gary was rude, and was very condescending while talking to me and my husband. My husband snapped at him in that he was taking the snake out of our line and had it flopping all over the yard and sidewalk, and told him he was "flinging" all that sewer everywhere, to include almost splattering some of that on us. He kept going on and on about him being a fellow Veteran (he started talking to my husband since he is a Veteran as well). It was a little weird when he suggested having a wastebasket and placing any and all toilet paper in it rather than flushing it down the toilet. He said, "You may have to learn to live with the smell though." Apparently another gentleman showed up, and it turns out it is Gary's son. It was very annoying to see the two of them bicker back and forth. Needless to say, we will definitely not be calling them back. WOW! Between your post here, and the private messages from you and your dad, it has accomplished two things: But before we get into those two things, you need to understand that statistically, if only 86% of the reviews here have given you 5 stars, then maybe that is your business model - that you serve to please roughly 90%. Understand also that this is a venue for "us" the consumers. It allows us a place to post our personal/individual experiences with a vendor. Lastly, it allows us to do this with a degree of anonymity. Why is anonymity important? Because you as the vendor never know who you are going to be providing goods and/or services to. It forces you to be cognizant of what you are doing at all times, and that "one" customer where you decide to not give it 100% may just be the one to post a critical review. But seriously, do not take this personally, it is just business. Use it to learn from; use it to strive and do better. Back to what your response and private messages (which illustrates what I was referring to in my original review) accomplishes: 1) The validity of my original review. The tone in your responses further illustrates that. 2) It further questions your integrity. Go back to some of the other posts that were not favorable...learn from those. There was one written in 2013 that gave you 4 stars. Read his comments - that again validates what was mentioned in our review. Also, look at the one from this past March. For almost 40 years you have been in business. Although that is impressive, you should not be "cocky" (as the gentleman in 2013 posted), you should know better. You should strive to do better than just 86-90%. Want a rating of 5 starts? Again, you will have to earn that. My husband feels we should call you back out on our next emergency. When that happens, we'll update our rating if warranted. As for the refund, we really don't need our money back...we just need you to live up to your own hype. Best of luck to you. read more

Any reason I have to give this guy fewer than 5 stars is absolutely not his fault. A hose on our water heater broke and we were out of hot water. Called around 6PM and unfortunately, he had just left our side of town. He called us back around 1045PM after he finished with another client and let us know that after midnight, service charges double and that they're closed on Sunday. I still opted to have him come out that night, he got to our house around 1115PM and fixed it by 1145PM. The total bill was only $130 as well. Mind you, we live in an old house and our water heater was outside in the dark, and he still managed to get things fixed that quickly, and then gave us some advice so we wouldn't have to have him back too quickly. He was polite and efficient, I could tell that he didn't want to work past midnight and charge us extra too. :) read more

Thank you ! Thank you Gary and son! This is the second time you gave come to my rescue,in the past 3 months. I never thought I would have been as happy to see two people in my life. During the summer Gary and his son came out to fix a shower that was an endless swamp. Within minutes they not only fixed it but went around to make sure all the other showers were working as well.
