I am a reluctant convert to Gas & Shop. I'd had a couple of bad experiences several years ago while getting gas in the evening and the clerk didn't do anything to intervene. But with gas prices soaring, I went back. It is cleaner, better lit, and it's easier to get in and out without feeling unsafe. I go here because the gas is cheap and it's in my neighborhood, and not like I'm expecting much of an attempt at service at a gas station, but I had a problem with the pump today and the two employees were just sitting behind the counter, so I asked if they could come out and take a look. They made me go out and come back 3x before someone finally came to help. They seemed very inconvenienced by having to actually stand up and walk to help someone. They guy inside just stared at me while I pumped, while the girl fixed it, but was pretty condescending. Go for the gas, but expect nothing more. A few days ago the police arrived there and asked all there to cancel their cards just used on the outside pumps. Apparently, once again a credit card skimmer had been placed on the pumps and card info had been transmitted with subsequent fraudulent activity. Seems like the one and only thing this place has going for it is the cheap gas prices. This place had had so many problems with repeated credit card scammers that on Nextdoor, people are wondering if the gas station is collaborating with the credit card scammers. People are so upset that the discussion drew 79 upset replies. Also, I have had a problem with the service here with the same guy - twice - His name is Louis and he was so rude. Recently, I stood on crutches waiting for his help while he ignored me. He refused to make eye contact, refused to take my credit card inside and told me to go outside. I asked to speak with the manager and he gave me a phone number - I listened to it ring in the store right behind him. Exasperated by these mean games I lost it and took a picture of him and told him it was for his boss. Immediately he took my card and then blamed me for not telling him my limit. If I said that if you say exactly how much gas to put on the card, he will accept it right away. I wonder if he works with the credit card scammers and why he is still working there. What's the best way to make a complaint and to whom? I felt helpless in that moment exhausted and on crutches and I did not like who I became in response to his unacceptable behavior. I got $25 worth of gas on 9/25/20 around 2:45 pm using a $100.00 bill. The woman gave me a $50, $20, & $5 to which I asked for three $20, a $10 & a $5 or three $20 & three $5? She said she didn't have any $10's or enough $5's and so I said I'd wait. After waiting almost 30 minutes & watching about a dozen cash customers paying with lots of $20, $10 & $5 bills, I asked her to breakdown the $50 she gave me & she stated this is not a bank. After she confirmed that I could wait & still not get change, I asked for her name which she refused to give me so I went to get my cell phone to take her photo for identity purposes. Meanwhile she got her manager on speaker who called me an "ASSHOLE" & told me to leave & never come back. I stated that's a given but I'm waiting for change on their $50 which is definitely in the register. She said he's coming & she's calling the police to which I replied great! While I took her photo she hit my hand & phone. I told her manager on the speakerphone & he ignored it. She confirmed that the store camera was on when I asked. The manager finally arrived around 3:35 after this episode of 50 minutes & counting. I photograph him arriving & he immediately calls me an asshole to my face twice. He reiterates that the $50 bill is not getting changed. I said he had plenty of time to bring his store adequate smaller bills FOR ALL HIS CUSTOMERS by the time he arrived to which he stated I'm not his boss & I can't tell him what to do. Since the police hadn't arrived, I decided to call after I was hit. The officers took statements & copied the store video which showed her hitting the plastic Covid barrier hard enough that it hit my hand which was holding my cell phone. Trust me my phone was not that close to that possibly contaminated barrier that she hit it quite hard to push it to me. I was wearing gloves that's how careful I was so no I wasn't up against that barrier. The officer said since she didn't have direct contact (ONLY VIA A BARRIER) that it wasn't sufficient cause for battery. Name calling is protected under the 1st Amendment but it seems strange that my very patient waiting for a reasonable change would warrant horrible customer service. Perhaps my being Asian has something to do with their refusal to open their drawer to make the requested change, I don't know but they accused me of discrimination when I politely waited & never called anyone any name or raised my voice or threatened anyone? Why did I not read the reviews before coming here? Oh well, first and last time. The gas station is fine overall. But the staff is the worst! There was one employee, his name was either Juan or Louise, he is short, looks really angry all the time, heavy Latino accent, goatee facial hair and slicked back black hair. Anyway, he was straight up disrespectful towards me from the moment we interacted. I realize it wasn't a personal attack, he was rude towards basically every customer. But I told him he doesn't need to be rude towards me, and in a condescending, demeaning way started raising his voice and being even more sassy. I think I would like to rename him, Mr. Sassypants. FRAUD ALERT! A credit card skimmer has been placed on one of these pumps once again and we have had our card number stolen and used fraudulently. We have a company fleet of vehicles that use multiple company gas cards at a limited number of stations throughout Marin. This past October, every vehicle of ours that used the company fleet gas cards at this station ended up having the credit card skimmed and used fraudulently at gas stations throughout southern California. SAPD was informed, but it doesn't look like they put out any sort of press release or PSA. Our December credit card statement arrived, and once again there are fraudulent charges. This guy gives everyone a dirty look as soon you walk in the door. Don't ever ask him any questions or you will get called dirty names in Spanish. He always seems as though he resents working there and hates everyone! I have seen him treat other people like this as well, even elderly people who ask just simple questions (Like how much a candy bar is, etc.).. In my 40 years of shopping, this guy wins the prize for the worst attitude of anyone I have encountered, ever. A few cents of savings isn't worth the abuse. I was in town visiting my cousin so I stopped to fill my tank. The sign on the pump said to go inside to get cash price on debt card. I cheerfully went inside and asked for the cash price. The miserable little man behind the register asked me how much. I told him I wanted to fill it up. Without looking at me, he says 'how much, how much, you have to tell me how much!' I said I don't know I want to fill it up. He responds, I can't do that, you go to the pump! I was so taken a back that it didn't make me mad. I thought it was funny because he was looking at me, cursing and halfway explaining debt card thing. Since I had gotten his goat, tried to talk him into using my card. I wasn't cursing back but I was giving him a hard time about selling me gas etc, etc. I will never go back.
