I like coming to this gas station location downtown Larkspur. It's always busy because they have the cheapest gas in Marin. As long as you pay cash. They do take cards but the gas is then .10 cents more per gallon. The gas is a few Pennie's cheaper than the gas station at the freeway in Strawberry. They don't have long confusing lines like the other cheap gas locations. The staff is friendly and the inside business area is clean. There are big signs indicating "no backpacks" so shoplifting must be an issue. This location even has a service area to fix your car. It's a quick in and out! read more

ALWAYS lowest-priced gasoline in the area, to be sure. However, this review is based on an incident that happened when I purchased a small milk from the convenience store part. The man rang me up and told me it was $4. I told him that seemed outrageous, so I did not want it, and went to put the milk back. The cashier said, "Oh, no no...wait." Then re-rang the sale and said, "$2.50." I was late for work and wasn't really sure how to respond, it was obviously him trying to pocket $. I paid and left without comment. The owner really needs to get better help. It's shameful that you can't even buy milk from a convenience store these days without having to watch out for some kind of scam. read more

Cheap gas but the fraud makes it expensive! Be prepared to have your card number stolen if you pay at the pump. This has happened to me TWICE now at this "establishment". Bought gas with a card on Nov. 10, and someone then charges the card for $300 at a gas station in Cottonwood, CA. I had to look up where that was. Let me start by saying this has the best gas prices in the area, and I've been coming here for decades. However, I've had my debit card stolen for the second time in the past year, and per the Marin IJ article and Nextdoor post, it's safe to say this place has or had a card skimmer problem. My experience matches up with another reviewer, a charge made at a different gas station across the state which was thankfully blocked, but now I need to replace my card. A family member who also frequents the gas station just had their card replaced as well. I find it hard to believe this wasn't done with the complicity of some employee(s), or at the very least gross negligence on the part of the business owner. They could solve this problem by installing those wireless card readers that don't need to be inserted. Until then, either pay cash, or pay the extra 40 cents per gallon and go to the one near Woodlands market. At least they won't *literally* rob you. I'd like to suggest the ownership group gives those who've had their cards skimmed a free $100 worth of gas for the inconvenience. I'm sure this won't be the last post like this. read more

CLEAR FRAUD HAPPENING HERE -- love this station bc it's privately owned and has the cheapest gas around, but I have had to repeatedly replace my gas credit card due to fraud. The last time I did so, I used my card at Marin Gas and 3 days later it was used fraudulently. This most recent time, I was careful not to use my card anywhere except Marin Gas, and again I used it there and it was used fraudulently. Marin Police had arrested skimmers at this location (https://local.nixle.com/alert/10599305/?sub_id=0) and clearly it's still happening. It's disappointing that the owners aren't more on top of this--they need to check the machines and remove any skimming devices that are under the keypads, etc. read more

I don't know - my car is old and funky and they always get it running without charging through the roof. Broke down on 101 just off the GGB and had to sit there for four hours (??!!@%) waiting to get smushed. Freaked out that I might have to literally walk off the freeway b/c no one can take me in their truck. The one thing I knew, aside from goodby entire tax refund, is that whatever the cost, I would take it to Marin Gas, the guys would fix it in a day, and I could trust the work and the charge. Needed a $600 distributor, which sounds about right - I needed it quick and most of my engine is held together by duct tape anyways. Is it cheaper somewhere else? I don't know and don't really care. The convenience, the small town-ness of it, the ABLEness of it can't compare. My brother had to come 'verify' the cost, just to make sure I was right (he built his mechanic's house so he's got lifetime repairs at a great rate). I got ripped off here tonight. I gave the cashier $83 in cash; three twenties, four fives and three ones. Pump only went up to $73. The cashier says that I only gave him $73. I counted that money three times, right before I gave it to him, and I know that I gave him four five-dollar bills but he says that he only got two. Perhaps they evaporated? Maybe the other two went in his pocket? These were brand new bills from the ATM so I know what I had. This happened on Tuesday, May 14th at 8:50 PM. It really makes me unhappy that this guy lied to me and stole from me. The dude was that Latino guy with a sleazy smile who seems to be there every night. These people are crooks. He wasn't able to find the leak but referred me to a tire specialist and didn't charge me anything, even refusing a tip. My 1985 corvette had been the home to rats/mice and they did some damage to the interior of the car, mainly under the hood and vent system. Jose and his team meticulously removed all the debris from the vent system, sanitized it and repaired the damage. All through this weeklong process, Jose communicated details of the damage, his suggestions for repair, status of the repairs and pricing. In addition, he needed a part for the air conditioning system, which is no longer in stock. He tried ordering a replacement part but with no luck. He gave us the information and places to possibly look for it and agreed once we find it, he will complimentary replace it. My sunroof water drains were clogged, causing flooding on the floor of my front passenger seat. I asked the folks at Marin Gas & Auto Services to take a look and clean the drains. They charged me $100 to "fix" my car. Great! Until the next morning after a nightly rain. I woke up to a puddle of water on the floor of my front passenger seat. Hmm. But I just paid Marin Gas & Auto to fix this exact problem? I drove back to Marin Gas & Auto and asked for my money back - they obliged. After getting my money back I took my car to a more accredited auto shop. After the accredited shop properly cleaned the drains to prevent flooding, I asked them if it had looked as if anyone attempted to clean the drains prior to his inspection. His reply, "What? Nobody touched these drains." Marin Gas & Auto charged me for cleaning my drains but either A.) didn't attempt to clean them or, B.) attempted to clean them but showed an unacceptable level of incompetence. *Btw- the accredited auto shop only cost an extra $35 to successfully execute the contracted service. read more

Small convenience store, accessible and well-priced gas, polite and friendly service. Would go back for additional energy drinks as needed. Did not see any fresh-made snacks, but plenty of chilled drinks, candy bars, and chips. There was another employee standing by the coffee machine with his arms crossed, looking gruff the whole time, as if I walked in and interrupted a confrontation between him and the employee behind the register. Great gas prices and quality gas. They offer a discount when paying cash or debit card (the latter gives you the cash price if you accept a 25 cent fee). Their small market has plenty of snacks and drinks for your trip and they're often playing a nice, eclectic blend of eastern music. Please do yourself a favor and Never, I mean Never ( with a capital N) have any automotive work on your car done at Marin Gas and Auto Services My sister- in-law had brake work done as well as a new Pittman arm and steering column work at this establishment and shortly after leaving the place the wheel fell off her car! Next, we discovered that the bolt they used to do the steering column work was too short and broke off making steering her car impossible, fortunately she was pulling out of a parking space when the bolt sheered off, otherwise she probably would have been in a accident. When she approached the owner of the business to let him know what had happened he told her to back off and the next time she talked to him she would have to do it through a lawyer. We own a business in Larkspur and have been here 21 years so we are giving you fair warning. read more

I love this gas station because it always has some of the most affordable prices for gas in town and the shop is family-run. They are always friendly and empathetic. I used to only purchase gasoline at the Arco in Mill Valley along the frontage road of 101. Everyone knows it's the least expensive gas in Marin, and the lines to gas up prove it. I now frequent Marin Gas, as the gasoline prices are pretty comparable if one pays cash. There is steep upcharge for paying with credit card, which is to be expected. The best part of Marin Gas is the lines are not hellacious like at Arco. It's actually pretty quick and straight forward, and it's (almost) a pleasure to fillerup! read more

Cheapest gas this side of Marin! Almost as cheap as the Arco station in Mill Valley, but without the long lines for the pump. This is certainly a no-frills station. They don't have those annoying tv screens shouting at you while you pump your gas (that's a plus in my book!). Their convenience store is nothing to write home about. And there are no other fancy-schmancy amenities. They just offer really inexpensive gas in a very convenient downtown Larkspur location. Although I haven't used their services myself, I've heard from a number of trusted friends that their in-house mechanic is very reliable and affordable. read more

Although I think there auto services are good. I recently had some problems paying for gas with cash. I went to the counter and gave the women at the counter $50 for pump #5. When I went to see how much I was credited on the pump she only put $30. So I went back and complained and she said I only gave her $30 then I told her again I gave her $50. And she said oh sorry I'll credit you another $20 with a strange grin on her face. I've herd other people have had the same problem at this gas station before. All I can review is getting gas... but heck, most of us drive automobiles around here & need gas once & a while - so why not go to a gas station that: 1. Consistently has lower prices than most stations in the area. 2. Has modern Pumps that work, including working card readers. 3. Employs a friendly attendant that let me wash my hands in the employee only area, since the bathroom was busy. 4. Has the BEST world music piping through the speakers... seriously, I dance when filling up (Three Cheers for the Gypsy Kings, baby!). 5. Sells Diesel & Regular Fuel. Only drawbacks? Don't take American Express (not sure any station does, though!) & the window washing station is not near the filling tanks... ya have to pull into a parking spot to use them, and there are only two. read more

I have driven up to this auto service station with a variety of car issues. The best was when I had a large wood screw punctured into my rear tire. Without hesitation, the helpful staff pulled the screw out, filled the hole and sent me on my way without charging me for their time. I highly recommend this station for their friendly, reliable service. And, the gas prices are way cheaper than the Chevron in Corte Madera or Kent Woodlands! read more

First of all this is the least expensive place to get gas in almost all of Marin (the other place is the Arco in MV but there is always a line) it is always at least 10 cents a gallon less here. Second they have an amazing service garage with really honest and kind mechanics. I had a problem with my car (NIssan) and I called the Nissan dealer in Marin who was a total jackass to me. I called this place because they are close to work and a friend said how honest they were. The mechanic said to bring my car there and he would drive me to work. They called me about an hour later saying all that was needed was a new battery (simple fix) and could they do an oil change too, I was almost to 3,000 miles. Awesome. I walked over after work and picked my car up, no upcharges at all. read more

WARNING: FRAUDULENT ACTIVITIES The counter dude tried to rip me and other customers off at the pump. When I pulled in ALL of the signs said $3.19 Reg. I paid counter dude for a fill up and went outside to do just that. There was a weird sound coming from the pump's mechanism, but I thought "meh." I continued to pump gas and counter dude exits lobby and starts changing one of the signs to $3.29 Reg! I look at my pump and it's been magically changed to 3.29! WTF!?! I stop pumping and tell counter dude that he needs to refund my damned money, immediately and notify everyone else who is being defrauded that they're not paying what they thought they were paying! He tries to make stupid excuses and finally I tell him, " Dude? I'm going to call the Polizia on your ass if you don't deal with this NOW!" I WAS PISSED! He only gave me my money back because I had to escalate it to the point of threatening him with arrest. Then, I called Sacramento. I hope this place gets shut down! read more

I have been going to them for a few years now. I always thought they were terrific. But when they bring in a mechanic that does sloppy work and is not well trained, and the manager is away, pity the customer. They did a brake job on my car (found out after the fact I had overpaid by about $400) and they delivered my car to me. The fool that did the work left the radio on and I did not use the car for at least a couple of months. It was a 45 +year classic and the radio does not turn off automatically. Thus, the battery had been completely destroyed. Fortunately I could not start the car w/o AAA replacing the battery. And he told me I owed another $200 over what the manager had quoted me for the entire job. Then when I started to back up the car absolutely NO BRAKES!!! To the floor...nothing! Fortunately the AAA person was still there and helped hand push me back into my space. I could have been killed. I immediately called the shop and talked to the manager, Bashir. They came right out and took the car. Don't know if they towed it because it was definitely not able to be driven w/o any brakes at all. When they finished working on it about a week later they said one of the "new parts" must have been defective. I asked them for a partial refund and to reimburse me for my battery. They have done nothing. I plan to take them to small claims court before the year is over. When I asked Bashir why he kept this horrible mechanic he said it was not up to him, rather the owner. We just needed a quick oil change on my daughter's Jeep today. Found this place because it had Saturday hours. We drove over without an appointment at 9:30. There was one car ahead of us but the service guy was super nice and said we were next. We wandered off for a nice breakfast and coffee in Larkspur and the car was ready in less than an hour. Great experience. Reasonable price. I will definitely consider them for more significant servicing next time. We have lots of cars. read more

I purchased fuel here whenever I'm in Marin because the price on Diesel has been hard to beat. In Sept. '11 I was on completely empty so I filled up. As I drove away my "Water in Fuel" light began to blink and then stayed on. A few days later my vehicle just stalled right in the middle of an intersection in San Francisco and it would not start. I towed it to my mechanic and the Diagnosis was contaminated fuel. He had to pump all of the Diesel out of my fuel tank as it was an amber color like Grade A maple surup. The fuel he drained out of my injection pump was dark. My fuel filter was realtively new having just been changed 4k miles before. It was completely clogged (See photos). I called the station and Osmond blammed it on his distributor - Redwood Coast Petroleum. I called RCP and they said Osmond is not pumping the sludge and water off the bottom of his in ground tanks like he should. Bottom line is I have over $500 in repairs. My wife was leaving the next day for a camping trip in Big Sur and we had to scramble for another vehicle last minute. Avoid this place. Took my car here for years until I finally realized something was fishy. Last time I took my car in for service they wanted to charge me $90 for synthetic oil change (a few months prior they were charging me $70), then they added all these problems my car had for a total of $900. It became apparent to me that they were making up costs on the spot. Not cool. I took my car to House of Brakes and they are charging me $350 and it also turned out I didn't need as much work as Marin gas was claiming. First a little history. Did you know that at one time there were three gas/service stations on Magnolia? There was this site, and next door was a Texaco, and further up the street was a repair shop where now is a nail salon (go figure). Anyway, that's how I remember it, but then the 60s came along and may have rewired a few brain cells. So now we're down to one, but this one is really good. The gas is about as low cost as it gets here, unless you wait an hour in line on 101 in Mill Valley. But better than the gas is the service department, run by Abasir, where I have been taking my cars for maintenance and repairs for the last 5 years. If you wonder about the quality of their work, just check the lineup in the repair bays. They get very busy so sometimes it may take till the end of the day, instead in a couple of hours. But I've never had a problem, the price has always been better than where I used to go, and they will test things out first to give you an idea of whether or not the work needs to be done. The gentlemen who run the service department at Marin Gas are great to work with, do excellent work, and most importantly have a great deal of integrity. Repairing the air conditioning system on one of our cars ended up requiring the replacement of more parts than they had originally estimated so they offered to donate a portion of the labor charge even though I had not complained to them about the bill. Really it's the best gas station I've seen in years, and the fairest prices. Honest lead mechanic Bassier has earned my total trust; a few times he fixed a small issue at no charge or a small charge for the time. This is one place you can put the words, honest and mechanic, in the same sentence. Some garages tack on extra charges and make up problems that don't even exist. NOT like that HERE, honest hardworking guys diagnose and tell me exactly what I need and lay out my choices for me. They always have work because their reputation is solid. When I needed serious auto repair, they ordered in the parts and had my car running in one day at the best price I found in shopping around. Can't beat cheap gas! Gas prices here are always the lowest around, seems there's always a little line by the pumps. I got a gas app to show the cheapest prices within miles around. Marin Gas is always, always, always #1 or #2 in all of Marin. When my friends visit from the city, they always fill up here in Larkspur before going back to SF, they tell me the prices here are better! And for me, the service can't be beat. read more

Larkspur Gas located at the corner of Magnolia and Doherty in downtown Larkspur. It's an actual throwback service station that fixes cars without ever ripping you off. Robin, the headmechanic is amazing. Bring your car in. Describe the problem. Robin is ordering parts before you're done. I've been nursing a 10 year old BMW and 11 year old Subaru at Larkspur Gas for 6 years now. They are inevitably polite. The bill is always less than the estimate. and if you get there oin the morning, no appointment needed they can almost always take you that day.
