I don't know how to thank Ferhat enough for his kindness to my friend and I. We are women who can only drive.... So my friend wanted to change that. Her car had low tire pressure warning sign showed up on her dashboard. So she use this opportunity to ask me to join her for the real life class room at this gas station. We saw Air/ Water but had no idea how to fill it. I walked to Ferhat and told him about this. He smiled and told us to wait then he came to help us. He explained how to use tire pressure and show us how to fill air. I told him that I could do the rest after he showed us but he helped us to finish all 4 wheels. The nicest guys!!! The battery had died on my Jeep, so the electronic monitors wouldn't pass smog. They gave me great advice on how to drive it so the monitors would clear. They plugged it in at least 3 different times when I came by. Their advice worked and the Jeep finally passed its smog check! My husband and I needed both our cars smog tested. I called for an appointment and they were able to take us both in during our lunch hour the next day. Dropped off our cars at 1pm, went to lunch. btw - Chao Praya, Thai restaurant across the street is my fav!! That's where we went. Other options across the street: Tommy's Salsa (Mexican); and Sam's (American) are great too. Returned after lunch, 45 minutes later, and both cars done and passed smog test. Yay!! I was steered away from this business by his competition who's located on the same street as the Novato Police Department. And I believe the guys name who steered me away is KAREN! I was curious on why the KAREN would say such a thing, using my best judgement on evil speaking people I went against his recommendation and decided to go anyway. When I arrived, to this place I was pleasantly greeted however told there were no openings for the day and for me to schedule a day (Thursday Feb 4). I did schedule for a Saturday the 6th. However I was passing the business on my way to work at around 9 am on Friday the following day and asked if they had room for me. Surprisingly they jotted up the paperwork and I was out successfully in about 15 minutes. They saved me time and money because they are the least expensive however very effective in what they do. First of all, this place has been my regular gas station for years now. However, it's my first time using them for a smog since my car is eight years old now and the State asked me to get my emissions checked. I was pumping gas early in the morning and realized the guy was just rolling up his gates. I walked up to him and asked if he could do a quick smog check without an appointment. He replied "Sure! Just pull up your car to the gate when you finish pumping gas". I was in and out in less than 15 mins. and paid only $48.20. Friendly, fast, and efficient service. These guys are the most shady and untrustworthy smog stations in existence. They completely screwed me over with all sorts of misleading information, and would not provide any decent customer service. Oscar the front man was rude, disrespectful and very unfair as I tried to get my vehicle to pass inspection. I did all the necessary repairs and they still charged me for a full second inspection fee as my repairs took more time due to COVID. I asked for some grace given my auto guy was shutdown due to pandemic but they could care less. In the end they said there was a computer problem and they could not validate the second test. These guys are great! I had a problem car - hadn't been driven in years, dying battery, and couldn't pass smog but I had to smog it to get the DMV to let me drive it so it would (long story). Peter knew exactly the situation with the DMV (better than some of the DMV agents), took care of me quickly, and helped with the battery. I turned around and Yasmin was checking and filling my underinflated tires. All for a really reasonable price and a great deal on the re-inspection after I go through the DMV labyrinth. Best smog check experience I've ever had. First, it was fast. Mid-afternoon, mid-week, only one other car being serviced. The time estimate was 20 minutes, and they beat it. Second, very friendly people, Maria discovered that my tire pressure was low and filled all four tires. Last but not least, a competitive price. They are a "Star" station so if your DMV notice says you need that type of facility, this is one of the few places in Novato that can handle it. I needed a star smog on my car and I have a carb legal aftermarket cat. The tech didn't want to get under the car to get the number and just to told me he would fail me and walked away, and just ignored me. I just Felt like it was rude because he just left me staying there instead of talking to me. I would have totally paid for the extra work it would have taken to smog my car. I grew up at this Chevron, not literally, but in a way. I remember always coming to this Chevron station as a kid and its satisfying to still see it standing with nothing changed. In regards to the other review, I can't comment on the service station, as I never had any vehicle serviced here. However, as a Chevron station, it serves its purpose. The station has plenty of pumps and has a small minimart with soft drinks, snacks, etc. And since this is Marin, you just might see a Ferrari getting gas. I give it a solid three stars because it doesn't have a full blown AM/PM store. read more

Super fast in and out in about 30 mins with no appointment and 2 cars before me. Pleasant enough interactions, just a couple of folding chairs in front of snacks. Not a full snack bar, but there is a restroom there. Didn't need it, so I didn't see it, but it is inside the store which is usually a cleaner gas station bathroom then the ones outside. Will use again if I'm in the area, after all Cali is a smog state. read more

I thought I'd get an oil change over the lunch hour, so I did a quick search and found Cromwell's. It was a good thing I had an hour because the change took about that long. Normally not a big deal--they're not a chain with five people running around the shop, so I expect a little bit of a time lag. However, the time and quality of the service didn't warrant the $50 charge, which included an oil/filter change, and tire pressure check. Not that I wanted a vacuum or other detailing services, but c'mon, man? $50? Maybe the the oil prices here are truly representative of the global energy supply? Maybe. Anyway, I was happy they didn't try to up-sell me on blinker fluid or anything like that. But, I doubt I'll be back. read more

Well, a couple of days ago I had a strange experience, trying to smog at Chevron. I first paid my registration, and then tried to smog it. I was told the car failed. I was asked if the windows, rolled down, and I said, no. The car has been, rear-ended. In the past, I went to this station, with the damaged, rear-end, with, no problem. It is a 2011Honda Accord. After this strange experience, I went to the DMV, and called up, the CA, smog, referee, program, and related, my experience. They told me, they had, no record, of Chevron, smogging, the car. In my case, unfortunately, I don't have, a smog problem, I have legal problems, with AAA, and Honda, relating to the, rear-end. They owe me, a new, car, and don't want, to pay, it. Also, at Honda, they've had difficulty, in my case, identifying, who the owner, of the car, is. I changed the locks, on my car, at Honda, for $1,200, because a relative, stole, the key. Honda, gave, the relative, the new, keys (now, I'm having things, continually, taken, out, of my car). The title, of the car, is in, my name. The relatives, name, was no- where, on, the title. You would think, a car dealer, could assertain, who, the owner, is. So, if you have a physically, damaged, vehicle, you may want, to consider, another, smog, place. Also, always, pay the registration, prior, to the smog, because, if there, are smog issues, and the car, fails, you can't use, Ca-car-referee- service. It must be registered, first. Thank goodness, I did, that. And, unfortunately, if you have, legal issues, with Honda, and AAA, you may wind up, failing, your smog. read more

You know when you get that DMV renewal and it requires a smog. I hate those. Ron's makes it easy. They are an official smog station that does not do the repairs so no conflict of interest. I hate that too, test places that have a vested interest in your car failing. I love Ron's, I have used them twice for the required smog. They are all very nice people, especially Ron and he get's it done quickly. I had a car problem this year and he was great about giving me a note for my mechanic about what he thought it needed. My mechanic even called him and Ron was happy to talk to him. I hear they still do full service one day a week for their old customers that still want it. Only in Marin.
