I made it very clear that I needed to have it by next Friday because I was leaving that Sunday for 6 weeks, otherwise I wouldn't order it: they assured me it would be ready. My first appt was in Novato; I was scheduled to pick up the retainer the following Friday in Tiburon at 1:00 (the whole staff moves from one location to the other every other Friday). I arrive for my appointment in Tiburon and am told that because someone's dog died, the retainer wasn't transferred from Novato to Tiburon, and the Novato office is closed. There was no text, email, or phone call to let me know this in advance. The orthodontist offers to meet me at 6 in Tiburon to receive the retainer. This meant I would have to cancel another appt I had. I ask if I may receive a discount for this inconvenience. He says yes, then changes his mind and tells me that he already offered me an almost 50% discount on the retainer and therefore can't give me more. I am flabbergasted - there was NEVER mention of a discount to begin with, and the price I was quoted, which is what I paid up front, was given to me by three different people in his office. This is obviously a lie. Then he tries to gaslight me: what if I meet him at 6 and I don't like the fit? Um, the same thing that would've happened had the retainer been there at 1:00. The discount wasn't for the product, it was for the absolute poor service. Meanwhile, this man is yelling and saying, "Hey, sorry, but there's nothing I can do." Continues to yell at me as I head back to the front office. Tells me I'm not really a patient because I hadn't been there in ten years. I had been there in 2019. This guy is snakey and rude. There are definitely better orthodontists in Marin.

I would encourage prospective patients to compare pricing with other offices before committing. Also, most advanced offices offer scanners instead of molds, so much more precise! And now if one loses retainer the can use scan avoiding costly old fashion mold replacement. Probably no good for $ for dentist but great for patients!

The result is that care that took years is now reversing, and we are having to pay additional thousands of dollars to address the damage. Based on our family's experience, the lack of follow-through and reversal of promises and agreements made has made an already devastating situation even worse. Any prospective new patient should be very cautious. Based on our family's experience, when something went seriously wrong, we were left with no meaningful recourse other than formal legal action, and no care for the actual patient and their treatment.
