Let me start off by saying I am a big huge BABY when it comes to dental work. So much so that I put off having my 'impacted' wisdom teeth removed for the last 10 years. I was told at 20 that they would never grow in and just get them out before I was 30 to avoid complications. So naturally... I waited until I was 29 to make any effort. I was actually referred to another oral surgeon but when I called to make the appointment I did not get a good vibe and decided to do my own research and found this place. It was closer to my house, had good reviews (from other big scaredy babies like myself) so I decided to call and see what happened. Just calling to make the consult was a 1000% more positive experience than the last place. The front desk was very nice and helpful. Unfortunately, my initial consult got cancelled back in March due to COVID. AND THEN I TURNED 30?!?!? And my anxiety about getting these suckers out tripled, was I going to have issues now?! 30 is already scary enough but now this?! I just knew it was going to be bad so I put it off for another few months until finally, two weeks ago I called back to get another consult. I went in last Monday, got the X-ray and watched the video and read the warnings and started crying in the chair. Then the dr came in to talk with me and I don't know how he did it, but he really got my cry baby self to calm down... he said my teeth were in a good position and this should be an easy procedure. Idk why but I believed him. On my way out I made an appointment to come back on Thursday to have the teeth pulled. Thursday comes and I did it... I freaking did it ?!? I got 4 teeth pulled in 1 day?! I had a wisdom tooth that needed to be extracted due to a cavity in a location that couldn't be filled. I had put this off for a couple years, but when the the top of the tooth caved in and formed a crater, I knew I needed to do something. I wasn't in pain, but the way these things go, pain was on the way. My wife and daughter had already happily used Dr. Kashef so my wife called and got an appointment. They are used to dealing with a lot of emergencies It took about 30 minutes from start to finish and didn't hurt a bit. I don't like anesthetic, so I opted for the local pain killer only. They offered all kinds of pain killers, but I never use those things, and the next day, other than very minor soreness, I wouldn't even know a tooth had been pulled!! EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE! I have always been afraid to get my wisdom teeth removed, let alone when my dentist informed me that I need all 4 removed. Liz Sweeney ("40 yr experience expert") - Calculated 3 times for the cost of my surgery by calculator yet couldn't figured out the correct number, she also yelled to me said she was the boss in the company, if I don't pay the amount she finally figured out, I would be removed. 3. You were attempting to charge over $4000 for partially removal of 4 wisdom teeth, and ask me to visit your office for total 4 trips for inspections. 4. Threatening? - I was questioning the bill, as my wife just did surgery with you and the cost Liz presented to me was 3 times more comparing the estimate she provided. I did not say anything that unrelated to my surgery during the whole conversation. So you believe your client questioning your bill is a threat? 5 - Fraud - As the surgery date was close to the end of year, cost was so high, and multiple visits were required, I tried to provide a solution to Liz and suggested to bill to my insurance by installments or even postpone my surgery so my cost could be covered. You said I ask you to make a fraud? 6 - Liz called my wife, NOT ME, one month after requesting me to remove the comment from yelp and offer monetary settlement. As a business owner, If I were you, I would come out to confront my customer, not acted like a scared cat staying away and let an incompetent employee to handle the complaint. I wished that this office had been more forthcoming about the difficulties they had removing my teen's wisdom teeth (large molars and small jaw so had to break them inside jaw to remove ) therefore recovery was pretty difficult while we had no idea why pain was so much higher than most other parents reports day 2-5 - until I contacted office and asked about the extreme swelling and pain levels . I don't usually write Yelp reviews, but I have been so impressed by Dr Kashef that I felt compelled to share my thoughts. My pre-teen daughter recently saw the doctor for some relatively routine oral surgical matter. Firstly, Dr. Kashef's manner with young patients is extraordinary. He's very calming and reassuring with patients, which is particularly valuable with younger people who have limited experience as surgical patients. Second, we live in an era when doctors frequently review your case with one foot out the exam room door, in a rush to see the next patient. Dr Kashef was the exact opposite. He sat down with my daughter and I and patiently walked us through the impending procedure and was happy to address our questions. It's rare, these days, to see a doctor who doesn't rush you through this process b/c of his own time pressures. Lastly, my daughter had more post-op discomfort than normal and the doctor returned a call from my wife at 9 PM on a Friday. That's extraordinary. I'd also add that his staff seems terrific. When I learned my special needs, 21-year-old son on the autistic spectrum had to have his wisdom teeth out, it was doomsday. I figured it would be one of the most difficult times he would ever go through. Between his multitude of fears (having blood pressure taken, door being closed, etc.), high anxiety in stressful situations and extreme sensitivity to anything foreign on or in his body (how on earth would he be able to keep gauze in his mouth for two hours?), I had doubts whether he would be able to go through with the surgery at all. I thank God for Dr. Kashef and his staff. The patience, kindness, and generosity they showed that day was beyond remarkable. One of the staff, Melanie, seemed to know just how to calm and work with my son, slowly explaining everything before she did it and doing whatever it took to make him feel safe and comfortable. I was so impressed with the way we never felt rushed and as if they had all the time in the world, whatever it took to make the surgery go well, although I know the vast extra time we required must have been expensive in time and operating room space. Still, all smiles from them and never even a hint that we were being the pains that we were:) Dr. Kashef is the BEST oral surgeon anywhere. I don't know how he did it, but my son was completely "back to normal" when he woke up the following morning - no pain, no swelling at all ever. I needed to get a dental implant and two wisdom teeth pulled out and I was told that Dr. Alex Kashef was the best. Dr. Kashef installed the dental implant into my jaw a few months ago and I was extremely pleased because it went so well, it was quick and I felt no pain. Just last week I also had Dr. Kashef remove two wisdom teeth and (once again) I was shocked at how quick, easy and painless it was. I did it with just Novocaine (not general anesthesia) and I walked out in a great mood and I felt no pain. I thought maybe I would feel pain with swelling in the next couple of days but Dr. Kashef did such a great job so there was almost no swelling and I never got ANY pain, just very lightly sore. I also never took anything more than Ibuprofen because I never had any real pain. I wish I had gone in and done both of these procedures sooner because they were so easy and painless and I was expecting otherwise. Dr. Kashef is the BEST, and his staff were also awesome, friendly and VERY caring including Liz and the rest of the team. Superb dentist and a great office! I almost never write reviews, but I must share this experience. I went to Dr. Kashef to get a tooth extraction and an implant. He was so amazing that I didn't feel a thing during the whole procedure (with local anesthesia - I didn't want general) and although he prescribed painkillers, I didn't need to take even one pill. Mind you, this is my third implant and the doctors I used to go to in Chicago were also pretty good, but I had to take a couple of pills afterwards. This whole procedure was done yesterday and so far I didn't take any pills and have no facial swelling. His office staff were very friendly and professional as well; they called later in the day to check on me. Dr. Kashef is an amazing dentist and I would highly recommend him to everyone. read more

For someone who has never undergone anything remotely surgical, I was terrified. I had to have my wisdom teeth removed as an almost 30 year old and I feared the pain would be unbearable. I had a horrible experience getting my first wisdom tooth pulled at another dentist's office out of state (he didn't give me any anesthesia and I was awake and in pain the whole time). It was traumatizing to the point that I was so terrified to have my remaining two wisdom teeth pulled. I was referred to Dr. Kashef by my family dentist. He is super calm, collected and knowledgeable. He listened to my horror story from my first wisdom tooth extraction and was really compassionate to the situation. The idea of going through what I went through all over again was very scary. I was completely reassured when he told me they would put me to sleep during the procedure and I wouldn't be aware of a thing. Furthermore, he even gave me a couple Valium (one for the night before and one for the morning of my surgery) so I would feel even more relaxed and at ease. The surgery came and went and I recovered fully without much pain (as opposed to my experience with the other oral surgeon out of state). I had two teeth extracted by Dr. Kashef and honestly it was the best experience I've ever had! He and his staff are so nice and made me feel really comfortable. I get really anxious when getting dental procedures but they were so understanding. I'm also a single mother and full time student so I only have DentiCal. Which is a joke really because they don't do or cover any of these kinds of things even though my face was swollen almost twice its size when i came in. She was so sweet to my daughter and I who were both in tears. My 12 y.o. girl had to have two wisdoms and four bicuspids extracted. 6 teeth! Yikes! They made her feel so comfortable by explaining the entire procedure, she walked in for her surgery telling me, "I'm going to be ok mom. Don't worry." Liz is wonderful to work with.
