So I wake up one day to a whole bunch of noise in the back yard. ..I walk out and my neighbor had decided to fix a section of the fence.....ummm nice of him I guess. Yet I had been meaning to replace the whole thing so I get dressed and walk out. I introduced myself to the workers and asked them how much it would be for the whole thing (not just a section) the workers didn't really look like they wanted or planned to do the whole thing (that was amusing ) they told me they have to call their boss. I stood there and waited.....after a few measurements and talk between them they hand me the phone. The boss tells me the price and I tell him to call the guy who hired him and ask him if he wants to go half and half on the whole fence. Next thing you know they are doing the whole thing (makes sense to replace a 35 year old fence all at once instead of sections since it's already being done) Best part didn't have to deal with the neighbors :-) they cleaned after themselves the owner is real professional and friendly. Prices seem fair and reasonable and saved me from been in the heat :-).... I would probably call them back to do the other two sides when I'm ready. We had two trees removed by them and they charged a very reasonable price. They have their own chippers and trucks and came with a crew prepared to get to work. They were done in an hour. They did a good job of post-work cleanup too. I would have given 5 stars but I later discovered a broken lawn sprinkler and two of my landscaping lights were knocked over- clearly both happened while dragging branches. It was weird they left it in that condition as it would be hard to miss, especially when cleaning up. I didn't make a deal of it and will deal with the fixing myself. I called a couple of local companies to give me quotes on trimming a huge crepe myrtle and our Japanese maple in the front yard. Baldemar came and looked at the trees and spoke to my husband about the job, and he gave us a very reasonable estimate. The other company was much longer in response to the initial appointment request and also took 4-5 days to give us an estimate which ended up being significantly higher. Called and scheduled tree work and was put on the schedule just a few days later. Although the crew that came was quite a bit later than Baldemar said they would be, I was okay with waiting. Jose and the other two workers got right to work and did a great job with the trimming and with the clean up. Mostly CREEPY acting guys doing the gardening work. The very few good workers don't seem to last long. Usually only a couple of creeps who blow anything that's not fastened down in your yard balcony Etc over and will not pick it up. The worst hedge butcher's I've ever seen. Bushes and shrubs literally yell for help when these guys show up. It seems they actually hate living plants and wish to torture them with their trimmers. These are not experienced gardeners they are Bushwackers! If they see you driving or getting out of your car they will not stop and continue to blow dust all over you and inside your vehicle. If you ask them to stop blowing the Dust with their weed blowers on to you then they will roll their eyes and gun the weed blower over and over then blow dust on you anyway before you get out of the way. The lead guy goes around with a hedge trimmer removing weeds and shrubs on the ground thereby leaving stumps that people can easily trip over causing a trip hazard. I have never seen them use a rake or vacuum as they only use weed blowers and lawn mowers so most of the debris just gets lodged under the brush causing a fire hazard I would certainly not recommend them or use them 4 a groundskeeping service. They are not professional !!! Also as a tree trimming service I would not recommend either because they just hack down the trees with no professional technique. They hack all the trees the same way regardless of the type of tree and the care that it needs. Some of the workers were quick to pick up the limbs out of your way which was a good thing. Due to the fast pace of work much of the debris falls on to people's cars. I certainly do not recommend this company for Tree Service either although they seem to have better workers on the tree service than most of the CREEPS doing the groundskeeping. read more

We have had Gastelum remove several trees from two different homes and recently they poured a concrete RV driveway extension for us, approximately 33 x 15. Baldemar has always done fantastic work on our tree projects, has been professional and well priced. We have always had concrete contractors who are licensed only in concrete (C-8) do our concrete projects but we decided to give Gastelum Tree & Landscape Service a try as we liked a driveway extension they had poured for a neighbor and we have always been pleased with the other work they'd done for us. The second was for the removal of three oleanders and a shrub that turned into an unruly tree. Both times the crew was right on time and the guys were considerate of my property and courteous to me. Had a very large walnut tree in my front yard that needed removal. It was very close to the house and too large for me to handle myself. Got 5 different bids from around the solano county area and gastelum was by far the cheapest. And usually with the cheapest bid comes the cheapest work. NOT THIS TIME. Baldemar's (owner) crew of 4 came in and worked diligently to take the tree down safely and efficiently. They then removed the stump and the roots as I had requested. They even took special care to shield my front window and house so as not to damage anything during the stump grinding, while also asking if my 4yr old, who was excited about the big machinery, could move away from the window just to make sure he'd be safe in a worst case scenario. Then they brought me out to ensure I was satisfied (they even cleaned up after themselves where there was debris on my walkway), thanked me and left. Gastelum does lots of other landscaping type work, including concrete, and he will most definitely be the first and only place I call when I need any work done! read more

Gastelum Tree Service recently did some major trimming on our two large Mulberry trees. Their pricing was totally reasonable for the size of the project and they were very professional. They fit us into their schedule quickly and you can tell they value safety. I was quite pleased to see how much caution they took when cutting down and lowering the really large and heavy branches. They were courteous to my neighbors (who's yard they had to enter for some of the trimming due to how overgrown our trees were), and they left both yards in as good of a condition as they were before they arrived. My wife and I had Gastelum tree service prune one of the very large old (~100 year old) sycamore trees in our yard today and we were very happy with the job they did. Now let me preface this by saying I have a lot of experience in growing, irrigating, fertilizing, pruning, diagnosing diseases, shaping, and removing trees. My bachelors degree is from UC Davis in plant biology. I worked in logging for 1.5 years when I was 18-19. I was a citrus, avocado, and olive orchard manager for nearly 20 years. I worked as a research biologist/lab manager in an ag science lab at UCD for over 12 years. I also took several undergraduate and graduate level classes in urban forestry, plant physiology, plant anatomy, post harvest, botany, Plant pathology, entomology, and various other courses that would make me an expert on the subject. I had no relation or any other affiliation with Gastelum before this morning when I met with the owner for an estimate on pruning trees in my yard. Therefore, this recommendation is not the ordinary stuff you see on the internet. Gastelum tree service is the finest tree service I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I was completely thrilled with the work they did. After talking with the owner for 5 minutes I knew he wasnt one of these guys that would butcher my trees. The owner is very knowledgeable and professional. The employees were courteous, efficient, professional, and took care to not break any sprinklers in my lawn or damage my yard in any way. My husband and I hired this guy to take out some trees in our yard about ten yrs ago. That went well. We then hired him to put a cement deck in and new sod. Also a new sprinkler system. Well, he subcontracted the cement work. That guy smeared a part of the cement. When I brought to this to his attention. He said it's not my fault. I explained to him we weren't going to pay the full amount. He then put in the sprinkler system. He installed the device on our wall in the garage. It hung on the wall crooked. My husband took him aside and explained that if he didn't fix this he would not get paid. He complied. I would not recommend this company at all. He says one thing does another. read more

I called this company because I have seen the heavy trucks drive past my home in the morning! I was thinking these guys drive all over. Gastelum took down several large dead trees in our back yard that were very hard to reach. Not only did they do a great job taking down the trees, but there was no mess and nothing broken (shed, fence etc, that were right under the trees) - which was amazing considering the location of the trees. My husband left work early having heard horror stories from coworkers about tree removal, and arrived home to a nice clean yard and a finished job. The price was very reasonable. Butchered trees in order to get boom truck on to property. Specifically asked that they take off as litle as possible and not chop straight down. They did not do as asked. I do not believe they know how to properly prune mature trees. They did not clean up all the limbs they chopped down. In addition, the workers threw their trash, coke can and water bottle in the yard instead of in their truck or in a trash can. I would not hire them again. read more
