    Liver spaetzle soup
    Carrie R.

We had a wonderful -- and filling!!-- lunch here. The place is charming inside and seems to be frequented by locals primarily. Definitely Bavarian fare is on feature. We had the pork with creamy mushroom sauce and spaetzle which was a huge portion with two pieces of pork. We also enjoyed their kasespaetzle. We had the pancake soup and liver spaetzle soup. Both were very good with wonderful broth. The pork dish came with a pretty sizable side salad. Everything was great.

One of the few breweries to still use wooden barrels. They tapped it right in front of us.

My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday night in December. It was super crowded and every table was reserved. But they were very gracious and were able to sit at the bar. It ended up being perfect because the bartender was great to talk to and we got to see him tap a new barrel of helles beer right in front it us. I think we were the only tourists in the whole place. Loved it!

Comfortable and authentic feeling Bavarian Restaurant. Our waitress did not speak English, which was fine but, of course we were unable to ask questions about the menu items and we did not receive the correct style beers. Indoor and outdoor dining, to accommodate a bustling crowds in this busy area. However, there was only 1 or 2 servers so service was understandably slow with the amount of patrons, under the circumstances the pace was fine. My coworker and I ordered similar dishes, classic roast pork loin with mushroom sauce and spatzle. We both enjoyed our meals.

Awesome small traditional Bavarian restaurant mostly frequented by locals. The Augustiner Helles from the wooden cask is the freshest that you can get and their Schweinebraten is exceptional, by far the best I have had.

Indoor and outdoor seating. Service was okay. The spatzle and wurst and sauerkraut were wonderful! Great Bavarian food at this restaurant. Great pork too!

Food was average, the service was very slow and bad. Waiter did not understand English well.

Went here while on a group vacation for Oktoberfest. Took about 30min to be seated but we were a group of 12 for dinner and it was a busy night. But because of the long wait, the host gave us each a glass of sparkling wine, automatic bonus points. We sat inside, but if it was warmer it would of been great to sit outside, the view of the surrounding buildings is gorgeous! Once we sat down the waiter was very nice and accommodating. The food was delicious and extremely filling. I had the Gnocchi w/ prawn, and although it was delicious my friends tortellini w/ ham was delicious in every part. The pizzas were big & delicious, the white pizza with red onions & some kind of pig on it, lol, was especially delicious. And the chocolate sufle was worth the over eating . Coming from NYC we were extremely surprised that for 12 people (and mostly big hungry guys) and for all we are, the bill was only 192 euros. Love this place! Next time I'm in Munich, I'll have to drop by for dinner.

On my never-ending journey to eat all the schnitzel humanly possible, my friends and I made a stop here based on the excellent reviews. Yelp Don't Lie. I got a glass of the Augustiner Edelstoff and it was perfect, exactly what I think of when I want a smooth, easydrinking German beer. The wiener schnitzel was off the chains, not quite the best I've had, but for sure a close second! The crisp exterior and juicy interior of the cutlet are all I could ever want. We also finished the meal was some delicious apfelstrudel that came with a side of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Absolutely divine. I've got no idea how to make a strudel, but whatever the hell Gasthaus Isarthor did is what it should be! There was also ample seating outside and an ashtray on each table. It started to rain so we moved on inside and the furniture and decorations on the inside felt like stepping into the 1800's (or what I think of a small German pub to look and feel like in the 1800's). Everyone was really friendly in there and the bartender was cracking jokes with all the patrons - in German so they could've been making 'Yo Momma' jokes for all I knew.

The food was yummy. Probably it was too salty for me but I'm normally don't eat salty food so for locals, it must be normal. We had pancake, pork and others! They we're all yummy.

Over salted, gloppy cream sauce, a paltry amount of mushrooms, pork on the dry side. Very disappointing meal.

The restaurant was just a ten minute walk from the hotel and on the way we passed a multitude of restaurants. We walked into a very friendly and busy environment. You could tell all the people sitting around us were having a good time and eating what looked like some really good food. We went to a side room that was just a bit quieter and without missing a beat... ordered a beer. Hard to make a choice with their comprehensive menu, but keeping with our tradition of eating lighter in the evening while traveling we went with: - Tomato and Mozzarella salad - A large piece of toasted bread - Veal Schnitzel with potatoes - Apple Strudel Without going through each item in detail I will say that everything was fantastic! Tomatoes and cheese were so fresh and tasty and the schnitzel was wonderful... Not enough good things to say about the amazing strudel..... Nothing like having apple strudel in Germany. Everyone here was just so friendly and helpful to us. We had a wonderful time and I am happy to recommend them to anyone coming to Munich! KUDOs to the team at Münchner Stubn.

The soup was refreshing and I really enjoyed it. The bread was good as well. One of the spreads was obazda dip which I love. I thought they made it ok. We started with the veal ravioli. They were tender and tasted pretty good. I had the restaurant special which was basically a chicken pot pie. I thought it was good but I've had better. I thought the chicken was over cooked and the capers inside was a bit off putting to me because there were so many and made the whole dish too sour for me. It was a bit off putting. My friend had the fillet with white asparagus and potatoes and hollandaise sauce. It was basic but I preferred her dish. The dessert had strawberry and tarragon I believe. It was well balanced, not too sweet, and I liked the herbs with the dessert. They also had a nice drink menu and a good variety of wines. They did not let us try the wine before pouring it which I expected since this is a nice place. Overall thought the service was decent but not great.
