I haven't use their service yet, this review is for the appointment system, this system put me though in hell for weeks because of looping back and forth no answer no help not friendly use! automatic message said ( new patient make appointment online) I went to the website ( no appointment available please call 703-698-8960) call that phone number (No one ) ever answer,hold for 15 minutes only get automatic system asking caller left information and call back number and I did, finally they call me back 4 hours later asked me what reason for calling, I told her I need an appointment for my husband, he is new patient never done screen check before, question is do I need to make appointment for office visit first or he can go ahead get a procedure appointment? She said she will transfer me to appointment line, ( why she can't gives me a simple answer?) I got transfer to main calling system, go through whole waiting thing again, get answers by automatic system again, left my information / call back number again, few hours later someone call me back but hanging up right away!!! I had to call again, looping everything again and again... Come on just a simple question! this non sense none helping System not user friendly, no wonder your business rating this low!! read more

This practice has recently been bought out from what I have heard and boy have they gone down hill. As you can see by the picture I included, prior to the following experience, I gave them a 5 star review. I had a virtual appointment on Friday afternoon. They were running 30 minutes behind, which I don't ever mind if a provider gives me the time I need. They did do that. The PA was supposed to call in medication and an order to Fairfax Radiology. Well I call the pharmacy to see if it was ready and they never received the prescription. I then call Fairfax Radiology to set up an appointment and they have no order. Of course all of this on a Friday afternoon before the weekend. I didn't want to page a dr over the weekend even though I didn't feel well, so I sent them a message through their portal system. The lady who responded said they sent them on Friday. That may or may not be true, I don't know, but there was an issue somehow because two independent facilities told me they hadn't received them. I then call to get a f/u scheduled this morning. The receptionist could not figure out how to book an appointment for the provider I had seen. I was on the phone with her for 15 minutes with her trying to figure it out. After 15 minutes of trying she then tells me she has to put me on hold while she can figure it out. After waiting 10 more minutes and her not returning, I finally hung up. It shouldn't be this difficult to schedule an appointment. I then call back to try and talk to someone else and get an appointment scheduled and they ask me to leave a message, that they'll call me back. I haven't heard from them yet. It shouldn't be this hard to get an appointment scheduled and medication/orders sent. Especially when you don't feel well. You can look at my reviews. I generally don't like to give poor ones, and have previously been very happy with this practice. In my experience their providers are very knowledgeable, empathetic, and accurate in their diagnosis. The lady I saw Friday was no exception to that. It is the way the office runs that seems to be the issue. My recent experience with them is the way the office is run has changed and they're difficult to deal with. My hope is they can rectify this because if not, I will be looking for another practice. read more

I had severe constipation. I thought of going to the ER, but I had an existing relationship with this practice (they had recently done an endoscope and colonoscopy on me). So, I called them first. I called the office before 10 AM and they said they had an 1130 available - I sat on hold 20+ minutes while they tried to book it, and then they said it was no longer available... They did say they had a 2 PM appointment that day with a PA. So, I waited in pain all morning to see the PA. When I arrived, I had to wait 20+ minutes past my scheduled appointment time. The PA was very unhelpful, and told me that I had "failed" on several medicines... She finally agreed to try me on something "stronger" and let me know that it would take 3 to 5 days to take effect. I asked her what could be done for the severe pain that I was experiencing that day/right now/immediately. She said, "we don't treat pain. You would have to go to the ER for pain..." and so I left their office disappointed and went to the ER where I was treated appropriately for my constipation. I will never go back to this practice and am extremely disappointed in their unprofessionalism and poor service. read more

I originally was setup with a virtual appointment with a PA. Since then nothing. No call back about a follow up procedure I have left voice mails. My first experience with this office visit was a pleasant one. I came to my appointment earlier than usual (45 mins to be exact), to allow myself to fill out the form before my actual appt at 2pm. I am all too familiar with this.. sigh Location - Within Inova Fair Oaks Hospital - I got confused with parking and should've entered through the left, instead of going straight. When I went straight, I past the office on the left and parked. It was a bit of a walk, when I have to carry a car seat with a baby in tow. - third floor Service - signed in, was called within 3 mins. Filled out form, was called within 25-30 mins. - saw a nurse who took vitals - Dr Lee saw me within.. 5 mins afterwards She asked for history, and judged based on what I've told her and got me what I needed. I would say, all in all after 30-40 talk, I had a good experience and found my GI dr after 3 years of living here. I am happy and comfortable with the office staff and doctor. Back history, I had seen another GI dr in Reston about two years ago and was not happy. So it took me a while to find another one that I was happy with. I found her though the Crohns and Colitis foundation walk held in Reston! And based what I've informed the people at the tent, they recommended I see dr Lee. read more

What a logistical nightmare just like other reviews. I'd had a procedure here 10 years ago, so I figured I'd go again, per my GP. I call and leave multiple messages with no calls back for more than 10 days. I finally get a call and they send me a ton of docs to fill out. I do that the same day and hear nothing for two weeks. I call my GP who then calls an MD in the practice and only then do I get a response...by email. They say "it may take a month." What is "it"? A call back? An actual appointment? I call my GP to see if I should just go somewhere else. She calls them again and I get a call back the next week for scheduling. I schedule with the doc more than 4 weeks in advance. Fine. They send me instructions for a different prescription than what the pharmacy filled, but, hey, small mistake, right? It takes multiple emails to get the right instructions for the pre-op procedure because I get instructions like "no solid foods the day before." "The day before" means what? Starting at 12:01am? After breakfast? 24 hours before procedure? They should have given exact instructions thousands of time for a routine procedure, but they always seemed surprised by questions that needed better answers. The week of the procedure I email them asking whether COVID-19 protocols have changed because of Delta and get told to call the facility where the procedure will happen. But I didn't have a phone # anywhere because they don't send that to you -- just an address in your confirmation, so I needed to track that down which is just a pointless annoyance. Then -- and here's the last kicker which makes them so bad -- they email confirming my appointment 3 days before **with a different doc than I'd asked for and had been told I was scheduled with***. I point that out and they respond with "Yes, that's what I see. I apologize for the lack of communication with the staff member who set up your appointment." So then I'm back at Square 1 of this scheduling nightmare because of them. I was going to give up and just go with who I was scheduled with but whatever I do this week I'll never go to this practice again and have also urged my GP to never send patients here. My GP was as appalled as I was. This is unprofessional, sloppy, and just unacceptable. UPDATE: I cancelled the appointment. I won't go to a place and expect professional medical service when they can't even hire people who can book an appointment in a timely manner with the right doc. read more

My husband just had a colonoscopy there. While the care was just fine, read the "fine print" GANV is a in-network provider for the procedure. What they didn't tell us -- was that the Anesthesiologist was OUT OF NETWORK. It is a $3000 + bill. Why did no one warn us from the office!?! No one said a word. The Anesthiesiologist's office has sent us a letter requesting that we "please work with them" to appeal to our insurance company, which of course we did. It was easy enough when we called the insurance company and switched the coverage to IN-NETWORK, but WHY do we have to do that in the first place? I was in a panic all weekend over this. Make sure you ask the right questions before having any medical procedure done so that you know ALL activities are covered. read more

I have been going to this practice for about 8 years, and for the most part, I would rate them higher than this however there has been an issue with one of my prescriptions, and I have been trying to call in to find out what needs to be done, happy to speak with a nurse, however 3 days in a row, was on hold for 1.5 - 2 hrs, and then left a "call back" number, and have not heard back from anyone. Dr Mirkin is my Doctor that I see from this practice. He is very knowledgeable and caring. Dr. Mirkin, will do his best to make you happy, however his goal is to keep you healthy under whatever conditions necessary. I also had the pleasure of working with several of the Physician Assistants when I recently was a patient at Fair Oaks, these individuals did a great job. My first visit experience was not good and I didn't even get a chance to see the doctor. I arrived 30 minutes early than the appointment time to fill out the form then waited 20 minutes after my appointment time to be called in, then another 30 minutes in exam room. Only the nurse came to do blood pressure etc. No doctors show up and no one even came to let me know whether the doctor will be coming soon or not. After waited almost 1 hour after my appointment time, I have to leave. No apologies from any one of the staff members. I understand sometimes the doctors may be running late, but at least the patient should be notified early. And if it's just a few minutes that should be fine but 1 hour is really unacceptable. I will choose a different provider. read more

Horrific billing department and patient assistance staff up front. Very confused employees that don't seem to know exactly what to do sadly. They make a ton of insurance mistakes and trap patients with bills that aren't even theirs. Its a shame because the doctor I use is great but will never come back after years of being lied to and making a mess of things. They don't even know how to bill insurance nor do they understand what in and out of network means so do your own homework. Very poor operation. read more

I have seen Dr. Tonya Adams at GANV since 2/2019 for abdominal pain, reflux,vomiting etc. She ran several tests, ultrasound, gastric emptying study and Endoscopy, everything came back normal, she prescribed sulcrafate for my reflux which caused me to have an allergic reaction and had me in the ER. I asked about a HIDA Scan to check my gallbladder, she refused, said it looked normal on the ultrasound. 3 months later my symptoms are getting worse, I am at my GP's office, explain my symptoms, first thing he does is send me for a HIDA Scan. It came back at an EF of 97%, hyperkinetic gallbladder. I send the results via Dr. Adams patient portal, an RN Sophia responds to me that I should schedule with a PA for a treatment plan for IBS for "hyperdynamic" gallbladder. The Dr's don't listen to the patients and the nurse can't even communicate with the proper terminology. Stay away from this place read more

I called three months ago to schedule colonoscopy. Since I've been a patient with a doctor in this facility, they asked me to fill out fast track paperwork. About 2 months later, there was another set of paperwork I had to fill out. It's been three months since I filled out the fast track paper work and nothing has been set up to this point. This is very frustrating. What is wrong with setting up an appointment even if it is a few months into the future. These people do not seem to realize that their patients are busy too. Dr Garone has been our Gastroenterologist for a number of years. He is excellent whether for a routine colonoscopy or some gastrointestinal issue. He is highly recognized in his field. I definitely trust his knowledge, and enjoy his sense of humor Dr Garone takes the time to explain what your gastrointestinal issue may involve, any procedure you may need to have, the results, and any follow-up that may be required. He is readily available through their patient portal to answer questions I highly recommend Dr Garone and GANV. read more

Went to see Dr. Tekola. Wow! She is super knowledgeable and a great listener. She and I discussed my condition and steps moving forward to keep it under control. I did not have to wait and was seen on time. Dr. Tekola spent as much time as I needed and I never felt rushed. The office is easy to get to, but the elevator in the building takes forever as only one is working (they are doing construction and the other elevator is out). So, get there a little early. read more

I have been coming here for years with no problems until now. I have pretty urgent issues and need to been seen by my doctor. I called and got an appointment for 10/15 at 1:45, they stated on the phone that this was one of my doctors emergency appointments. On 10/131 got my appointment reminder and it showed that they completely changed my appointment time and date without ever letting me know. I called stating I wanted my appointment back and I don't understand how this happened they basically said they didn't know and would "work on it" but for now they can make me an appointment for December. They also told me to go through the portal and send a message to get this escalated (which I did while still on the phone with them) just shy of two weeks later with no response. called again today and the receptionist said there's nothing she can do nothing is available. I asked about emergency appointments she stated she didn't know what those were. I got transferred to the office manager twice and haven't heard back yet. While I 100% understand how in demand my doctor is, in no world should someone's emergency appointment get canceled without even a single heads up or any explanation and then the only "solution" they have is to have me wait over 2 months to get in..... read more

I have used them in the past and the doctors are great, but now they have this automated system for interring all of your information online which is not secure and they require you to sign away all of your HIPPA rights before you can schedule your colonoscopy. As an example of how insecure it is, they suggest that you can text your insurance card and drivers license, Are you kidding me????? In addition the system is very difficult to work with. Agree with other reviewers that this place has really gone downhill. read more

I don't understand how physicians can put such incompetent individuals as their front lines. First impressions are everything. My doctor is superb. The online system and the ability to get an appointment with my superb doctor are absolutely horrible. I have never seen a practice run so poorly, and it has been this way since at least early Spring 2021 when onboarding. And I had to sign some consent agreement again with Docusign -- but instead of my name in the boiler plate it was my deceased father's name (and it was not a field I could change). A terrible black comedy of an experience with the admin side and there is no excuse for that, but a great doctor works here who went above and beyond for me. This is a review for the service I received at Fairfax Gastro Health (formerly GANV) a couple of years ago and havent' had a chance to review till now. The 1 star is for the nurses there, especially Nurse Sophia who was my doctor's nurse. She is absolutely unfit, rude and unprofessional. I have no idea why she even works as a nurse when she is so disconnected and callous toward her patients. My experience with her was so unpleasant. She answers NO questions prior to treatments... didn't even call me afterward. No follow up call, no attempt to return calls. And once when I finally managed to get a hold of her, she argued with me and passed the buck to other nurses who had no idea about the matter. I will never return to this practice again simply bc of this inept and arrogant nurse. Beware of her if she ends up being your nurse. read more

This practice is hands down the best! Dr Scudera is my provider and I cannot say enough good things about him. I came to GANV in very bad shape and Dr Scudera has been by my side and my number one advocate since day one. I would not be where I am today without Dr Scudera's excellent and knowledgeable treatment. His triage nurse Rachel is always timely in getting messages to the doctors and getting a response back to me. Dr Banson has assisted me a few times as well and she is so kind and calming. Due to my chronic disease, I'm a frequent flyer in the office and in the hospital. Every physician and staff member with GANV that I've ever encountered has been absolutely wonderful. I've been seeing Dr Jeremias Tan for about 4-5 yrs now & he is an excellent physician who goes above & beyond to provide with the best of care. He is so caring & attentive @ his assistant Vicky is the same. They always do their utmost for me & have helped me time & time again when I've been in distress. I've seen Dr. Bezawit Tekola about 3 separate issues. i don't want to go into detail about the issues I was having, but she was professional, knowledgeable, sits down and actually looks you in the eyes when conversing with you. I'm the type of person that has a ton of questions and then remember another problem when in the exam, etc. I'm picky about my health and work in healthcare. I've only had to wait longer than 15 minutes to see her once,, which annoyed me, but she's too good for me to go elsewhere. I know it's because she will sit with her patients and make sure they understand everything going on. People need to remember she is a surgeon too. She did one of my procedures. Luckily when I was in the ER and they couldn't find out what was wrong with me and wanted to release me, I called GANV in panic and they sent an oncall doctor to find me in the ER. They found me in 15 minutes and overrided the ER releasing me so they could do a procedure the next day to find out what was wrong...which worked. I was admitted to the hospital 3 times from complications from a different surgeon that was with Inova and his practice could do nothing for 3 months. I called GANV when I was feld up and rushed to the ER from work and they sent someone right away. It wasn't even a surgery they did that I had problems with, and they found the problem (which was simple) and I'm fine a year later. Completely fine. I can't say anything bad about this practice. I know Dr. Adams is good because the doctors I work with raved about her and actually referred me to her from the beginning, but I could only see Dr. Tekola and that's who I will continue to see if I need to in the future. Lastly, I've referred 2 people to Dr. Tekola and they both absolutely love her. One had seen several doctors and come to find out was given incorrect meds by a previously doctor that he took for years, she did a procedure to see what was going on inside, give him a diet plan and he doesn't take anymore meds and looked great when I last saw him. The other person had a procedure too and she's fine now. No follow up meds and I don't hear anymore complaining of being uncomfortable or in pain. Win Win I'm waiting for them to open to make my husband an appointment. read more

As an individual who works in the medical field I am fairly particular about my physicians and, as with most practices, the competency of the doctors is variable, but.... I love Dr. Balba. I have seen Dr. Balba for two separate issues. He is professional, courteous and explains everything to my satisfaction. On my most recent appointment, for a new 'problem', he first revisited an older issue to see how I was doing and re-reviewed previous imaging to be sure I'm being properly followed. I have also had imaging w/ anesthesia with this group and Dr. Balba was great as was his staff. I, personally, haven't had any billing issues but as with any practice the cost varies by insurance coverage. Scheduling was easy and Dr. Balba is at multiple easy to reach locations. I highly recommend him and feel fortunate to have access to a great doctor. read more

I am giving this poor rating to their telephone and appointment process. My husband called to schedule his colonoscopy. You have to jump through so many hoops just to schedule an appointment. They send you over 10 pages of paperwork, which you then have to fax to the office. We did that and then called to see if they received it. They transfer you to an answering machine. We left over 3 messages and no response. Now I'm trying again and keep getting transferred and disconnected. What a sloppy and painful way to just try to make an appointment. read more

I was in the ER the night before my appointment with GANV and they wanted me to follow up with GI the next day. I couldn't seem to find an appointment with anyone that soon until I called GANV. When I arrived for my appointment (on the same day) the person at check in was efficient and friendly. I filled out my registration forms and was taken back quickly. Dr. Garone listened to my concerns and helped get me scheduled with a surgeon. His assistant was friendly and provided all the info I needed for my appointment with the surgeon. Overall I am grateful that I was able to be seen at this practice so quickly and efficiently and that there was absolutely no wait time. I would recommend GANV to anyone! read more

Dr Garone has been our physician for many years, first myself and then my husband. My husband has Crohns and Dr Garone has been wonderful explaining his condition, trying different protocols of medication for the most benefit and least side effects, and taking time to answer our questions and concerns over the past five years of his diagnosis. The office is immaculate, well-run, and efficient and the staff is very pleasant. We feel lucky we are patients of GANV and Dr Garone and the care we receive. read more

I recommend this medical facility. I recommend Dr. Garone. He has been my Doctor for years. He is excellent. I love his bluntness and honesty. His office is located near Fair Oaks Hospital. Great location and nice office. The Receptionists are very good. I have seen on more than one visit a patient giving them a hard time and they are very patient. This is how it works. Dr. Khapra will see you once. If you try to see her again the wait is three months. But they always have a PA available. In other words the specialist will bring in the new patients and follow-ups will be done by PAs which earn chump change. So if your willing to wait 3 months for a follow-up with the doc go to this facility if not say away. Now you will see various excellent reviews from GANV to offset my bad review. I just being honest. If GANV wants to fix it, fix your greedy system, dont submit fake reviews. read more

This company was recommended by a coworker. I was very excited when I called on a Tuesday that I was able to get a consultation for that Friday. So Friday rolls around, I go in for the consultation. Dr. Mirkin spent less than 5 minutes with me and seemed to not listen to what I was saying. We came out of the exam room and he then proceeded to speak loudly to the women that were at the reception desk to schedule a procedure for me. Thanks doc...I really wanted EVERYONE in the office, including other patients, to know why I was there. Anyways, The weekend before my procedure I received two miss phone calls from the office. No voicemail. I call back the number is it's the emergency line so I don't think anything of it. The day of my procedure...I arrive to the office and all the lights are off!! I call the main number and it appears that my procedure was cancelled!! The lady I spoke with was VERY adamant that a voicemail was left "according to her records". Ok, fine, whatever. So I made another appointment. This one was also cancelled two days before my procedure. *anger* I call back today and got the run-around. First phone call was "disconnected". Second phone call I was transferred to a non-existent voicemail box. Third phone call...I will have to wait until June to have the procedure and was transferred to the non-existent voicemail box again. I quit! I called my health care provider and told them what happened. They will be looking into the company. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I am writing this review to help others be informed that this place has awful customer service, terrible doctor/patient relationships, and does NOT care about your health. I went and got tested to see if I have celiac or not. They got my results after 3 weeks, so I followed a gluten free diet as instructed. When they told me my results they refused to tell me if I needed to stay gluten free and to schedule an appointment. I couldn't get an appointment for the next 2 weeks, so stayed eating gluten free just in case because they still wouldn't tell me my results. Then, the power went out during the wind storm, so my appointment got cancelled. Totally understandable. They said they would call me the following business day to reschedule. They never called, so I called them. Again, that's fine. Then they told me that they couldn't see me until a WHOLE month later. What?!? So they refuse to tell me results for 2 WHOLE MONTHS if I can eat gluten free or not... THEN a they charged me more than $5000, even though they said it would be covered, so that was a whole other deal. These people are money suckers and I still have YET to know if I'm gluten free or not. I'm currently getting my records and changing doctors, so I will update for others' well being if I find a better doctor in the area. Again, avoid GANV at all costs! I went to this place for endoscopy because it is in network. Then they used out of network anesthesia company (old dominion) and the first bill they sent me is a threat saying that unless I pay, they'll send it to the collection agency after already having collected from my insurance. I think they should have given enough time to rectify the situation, but doing this they are hoping to collect the full excessive charges of over $6k (you should have seen them smiling when they greeted me, now I know why). To be fair, I have no problem with GANV, but I think they should expressly state that you'll be screwed by the anesthesiologist. When I called GANV about it, they simply stated they don't deal with anesthesiologist bill even when they are the one who used their services. I think you'll be fine if all you are doing is seeing GANV doctors, but please be vigilant when you go for any work to be done on you. read more
