I did my wood fence around my property in Davis with Gateway Fence and I really recommend them. They were very responsive with me from the beginning, we wanted to have a certain type of fence that is not really popular in Sacramento area and surroundings, but Larry worked with me to find the right style and right posts and specs that fit my ask. After a couple of iterations, we came to a nice style and specs. They came on time and they were ready and did a great job. The fence looks amazing and very sturdy. After a 50+ mph wind blew a chunk of our fence down, we went looking for someone to replace it. We had someone come and at least prop the fence up, but these guys came recommended by a friend of ours. We had a quote from them and from someone else, and we went with these guys because for a few dollars more, they said they'd be reinforcing the posts with metal posts to help it stand up longer against durable storms. Larry and his helper showed up to our house about 11, and by 1:00, they were done. They were efficient, the fence looks great and stable, and we were incredibly happy. After a section of fence blew down in January 2024, I spent months calling, texting and emailing Larry (the owner) and Bob (the former owner and Larry's father-in-law) trying to get a quote. Where do I even begin, The crew was amazing. Alex is the team lead. They arrived prior to their start time and waited exactly until their start time to give me a call. It was all business, expedient and professional. They were very organized and everyone knew exactly what they had to do, everyone had their own task. Had it not been for the generator for their air compressor I would not even have noticed they were outside working in my yard tearing down and building a new fence. They did a complete tear down and rebuild of a 75' neighboring fence and our 7' gate in less than 3 and a 1/2 hours. They definitely went above and beyond And even fixed my neighbors gate they had just got, their gate and fence repaired on their other side of their neighboring fence was a horrible project, sad to say it was only put up less than 4 months ago. Plus they dugged up my side of the yard and helped us lay down the excess brick blocks we had lying around our yard & did it without us asking! How incredible is that! Our fence has needed to be replaced for sometime but with one of the recent wind storms the back fence had a section go down and the rest was just falling apart. We had been trying to rig it with no help from the people behind us but was necessary since they have pit bulls. One day my little dog was able to get through and by the time I noticed it and yelled for him he can through soaked and a hole in is side and couldn't walk for days. At that point, we couldn't wait so I called Gateway and when they saw the picture of my injured dog they were here the next day measuring and actually called to see if they could come a week earlier that expected and even added some extra touches for my dogs safety. To top it off, they took down and put up over 60 ft including some trees we hadn't got a chance to trim and a small one that needed to be cut down in 3 hours!! No goofing off or being loud, I couldn't believe it! It feels so nice not to worry if the dogs want out. We will definitely be using them for the side section we need to do soon.. Like many others my fence was on its last leg and I didn't do much to it to help keep it up... I mean what can you do to maintain a fence anyway? It's usually the posts that rot after x number of years, and mine was up for almost 30yrs so I consider myself lucky. Anyway the storm in January finally blew down a few weak posts so I started looking for fence contractors. My neighbor said her gardener could do it but I convinced her that a licensed pro was the way to go. Got a few bids, Gateway was among them, and the estimator James made a great impression so we put them on top of the list. Everyone is booking 2-3 months out because the storm created so much business. Then out of the blue Larry (Gateway's lead man) calls me and says they can do it next week!!! Of course we said YES and they were here at 7am with about 8 workers and had 130ft of fencing done by 2pm THE SAME DAY!!! Wow!!! Super efficient, cleaned up as much as possible (I personally filled 2-full greens recycling containers after they left but Larry did say they have to trim but can't take it away), wore masks, and totally professional! Our fence blew over during a wind storm a few weeks ago. I called three "fence guys" and only got two calls back. Bob was the first to respond. He looked at my fence and emailed a quote that night. Extremely professional. Bob showed up at the time he promised, ripped out the old fence, drilled new holes for posts (fighting with my rose bushes, sorry Bob) and had the new fence up, added a gate for the neighbors side and repaired our gate all before 1:00 pm. AND he put up with my 3 year old who took quite a shine to him (Just as an aside, my daughter doesn't talk to very many men including her uncles and her adult male cousin but for some reason she felt very comfortable with Bob.
