We visited here for the annul spooky walk. What an event. They have what I would call a mini-festival outside the play house. Selling beer, wine, snacks, hot apple cider and more. People are systemically moved through, it is a well oiled machine. We arrived before our reservation on a Sunday night at 730, relatively empty when we first got there. Parking lot packed when we left. It is an enjoyable experience and never the same. If you are not down for the frights they will allow you to wait in the "festival" area and hang out. The Gateway in Bellport puts on Live Theatre productions. Today's performance was of the Phantom. Note: this is a different production than to the Broadway play - The Phantom of the Opera. It is the French variation with different songs and plot yet still , one of the many variants of the main story. Note: again, we as the audience are respectfully requested not to take pictures while actors are performing and to mute our cell phones. My pix are of the theatre and surrounding area along with the stage and photo poster up on the wall. As I wasn't able to see over the tall lady in front of me I respectfully waited till intermission and the manager not only allowed me to move but gave me a small plastic booster seat which worked sufficiently. The quaint town stores are approximately a half a mile down the street. There are 4 or 5 restaurants nearby also listed in the playbook. Do check their hours as most open after 4 p.m. read more

First time visiting the gateway, play house to see Frozen. My daughter and I had a wonderful afternoon. The show was spectacular. Truly an amazing performance done by all and highly recommend . We had front& center seats, which were perfect. I've seen Broadway plays since I was a young girl and this is right up there with all of them if not better. Thank you for the experience . read more

We are devoted patrons of the Gateway Playhouse in Bellport, Long Island, frequently attending productions at this beautiful local venue. Recently, we brought our grandchildren to see a delightful performance of The Little Mermaid, which they thoroughly enjoyed. We were also impressed by the Broadway-caliber staging of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, amazing costumes, sets, and orchestration. The cast was just amazing and very talented. This was such a fun place to go to the theatre - it reminds me of a theatre in the Berkshires. It is located in a barn.It has been owned and managed by the same family fro 1941-2010. I thoroughly enjoyed our outing here - you can get a drink before at the tiki hut if you wish (we did not), you can hang out outside; and you can really see a great show. We saw "Escape to Margaritaville" and I just say I was very pleasantly surprised to how good the show was. It really was enoyable and I highly recommend. It is easy to get to in Bellport and parking is easy as well. read more

I won tickets at a Chinese auction. I was trying to send my brother and my niece that was visiting for the holiday and I couldn't get them to redeem and couldn't get anyone on the phone to help with the process. Now they expired last night and they won't do anything to help fix the problem. Told me I never called and was just plain out rude to me!!! I will never support this business. Horrible customer service. They have specific directions on how to redeem on the voucher and it would add the code and not deduct anything from the tickets and what the lady was telling me I had to do was not listed in the instructions on the voucher. read more

What an amazing theater and such a wonderful treasure for Long Island to have!! The box office staff here are so incredibly accommodating, kind and super helpful when I was having an issue trying to buy tickets with a voucher. The quality of the shows are superior to some of those I've seen on Broadway. I hope this place stays around for a long time. read more

Took my granddaughters and my daughter to see a white Christmas and the show was excellent. The performers were fantastic. I especially loved the tap dancing scene. It was amazing. I already booked our tickets to see Disney's Frozen in April! read more

It is 7:00 on a Saturday night. I am finishing dinner at a nearby restaurant when I look at my tickets to see if the show starts at 7:30 or 8:00. Neither! I mistakenly purchased tickets to the afternoon performance. I am suddenly ill. Could not happen to me but it did. In a panic I called the theater to tell my tale of woe. They were more than helpful. Calm down, don't worry, and come right over to the box office. Not only did they get me into the evening show, they were able to replace the exact seats I had purchased. This is truly going the extra mile and I am very thankful for their help and compassion. read more

The Gateway Playhouse has a long interesting history but in a nutshell it started on Long Island in a barn as an alternative to Broadway. It wasnt until last week that myself and a group of friends had the pleasure to attend the theater for the first time to see the play called The Bodyguard. We were warmly greeted by a smiling staff. We all ordered gin and punch cocktails at the snack bar and enjoyed them under the spacious outdoor tent. Not only was tonights show absolutely incredible but i felt so comfortable in this cozy, quaint and well air conditioned renovated barn. The actor's were extremely talented. It was prefection. After the finale the entire cast had the audience dancing and singing, it was so much fun. Oh yes, Gateway Playhouse we will return! After the show we headed over to Patchogue Village , 10 minutes away and had a lovely dinner. read more

What a shame. Always loved this playhouse. Been there several times and always had a great time. I know that businesses are struggling and prices for almost everything have increased. I wanted to surprise my girlfriend on Christmas with tickets to see "The Wedding Singer", one of her very favorite movies. I went into Gateways web site hoping I could get good seats. They did have good seats but none, not even on a Thursday afternoon were under $200 and weekend days/nights started at over $250 each! The reason I loved the gateway was because it's so quaint and was relatively reasonable but over $500 for 3 hours of entertainment? I felt like I accidentally stumbled onto a Manhattan Broadway ticket site. As much money as some people must have, I cannot, especially now, afford that kind of entertainment. I mean, even Broadway in Manhattan has specials you can pick up for $49/seat on certain days. No such specials (or ANY specials) to be found at the gateway. Such a shame. I loved this place. Too bad greed took over where quaint, wholesome, great entertainment used to exist. read more

I had no clue that the play Clue was so good. It was beyond excellent. Sally Struthers was excellent, as well as James Taylor Odom and all.the actors. This is where Gateways haunted house is and I have to say it used to be awesome about 5 years ago but each year we've went it's been less and less scary. Severely overpriced now. Much better option is Schmidt's Farm! Better overall, this place went downhill quick! Save your money. read more

Saw The bodyguard tonight. It was incredible. Every part filled to perfection. Kimberly Sprawl as Rachel was amazing. Osseni as her sister Nicki equally as good When they sang together I literally got chills!! Michael Shenfelt as Frank the bodyguard reminded me of Kevin Costner from the movie and Matt Baguth as the stalker, Scary!! The entire ensemble was amazing. All together Fabulisity. I think this is the best production so far this season. They had everyone on their feet singing and dancing after the finale. You font wSnt to miss this one!! read more

Came here for the first time during the weekend. We went to see Clue with Sally Struthers. She was very funny as Mrs. peacock and the rest of the cast was great (especially James Taylor Odom as the butler) I also the enjoyed the set design on each of the rooms in clue. Prices we affordable ($70 a price) only complaint is the seating is old and need to be replaced. But other than that, we will comeback in the future. Nice place to see a Broadway level show without going into the city. read more

First time there---we saw The Legends of Country music---show was terrific. Gateway was easy to get to and a comfortable environment.

I went with my friend to see the Little Mermaid on 7/31/22. The theatre smelled of mildo and the seats very uncomfortable. The female usher that was in there short dark hair and glasses was very rude and condenscending. I took a few pictures and a couple videos as did most of the people in that audience but for some reason this usher singled me out and told me that I would have to leave if I continued. I than got up to go to the bathroom and this usher literally follows me and approaches me and said put your phone away into your purse or you'll have to leave. Apparently as I was left for the bathroom the usher raced back down the aisle to watch my friend to make sure she wasn't taking pics or recording. It was beyond ridiculous with this usher. Meanwhile as I was walking back to my seat I saw most of the audience recording and taking pictures of the show and the usher said nothing to them. She just kept watching me the whole time like I was an infant. The show was great excellent performances by all but the theatre needs some work done and that usher definitely needs to go. read more

Just saw On The Town. It was very good. Such energy. Jerome Robbins choreography was so well executed and the singing was top notch as well. However, the seats were not so comfortable and to sit for over two hours was a bit tiring on the back. I love this place and apparently many others do as well. read more
