Yesterday i went in without an appt as i had gotten a swizzle stick lodged between 2 teeth. Well, though im not presently a patient, they took me in in 30 minutes and took and xray and then with some work, the assistant was able to remove that!!! And they didn't charge me a cent! The staff was wonderful, helpful, friendly, and proficient. I'm sorry I don't have dental insurance because I certainly would make them my regular dentists. Num care administered making this experience great. Remove broken crown, prep tooth for new crown. Digitally capture topography and stitch data to fed mill to create a new porcelain crown. Office experience 10/5 For starters I was late. My bad for forgetting but Gateway Smiles called to check in me and thankfully I was shopping across the street. Everyone was understanding. I apologized to the Dr. as she introduced herself having recently joining their team. She asked questions to develop my medical history and understand my fears of the chair. BEWARE!! Dont go to Gateway Smiles on Signal Butte road. The billing manager Daniel makes mistakes on billing. They sent a bill to collections from a bill from 2021. Three years ago. It is July 2024 now. All the answer I got was "the system" generated the bill. It is now in collections for $900+. This is so terrible. The bill was for orthodontics and the Doctor finished the treatmen early and informed us the contract was terminated. Then we get the bill 3 years later. Don't Go there!!!!!! read more

The problem was that not everyone wants to be dealing with MyChart! The front office staff needs to be friendly and inviting - not ignoring the patient/customer! The waiting room was a complete zoo with parents letting their kids run all over the place and playing with the cups at the water station! I'm not sure why I had such a poor experience here, but it seemed like the lack of urgency from the front desk to the dentists was probably a major cause in the traumatic experience I had to go through after what I thought would be routine dental treatment. I first went to Gateway Smiles for a general dental check-up, went over my concerns and created a treatment plan for what started as something simple. I then went back before I was able to start my general treatment plan because I started experiencing similar pain I had when one of my upper wisdom teeth shifted and broke the molar in front of it. This was my last wisdom tooth and considering it was on the side I was going to get treatment on, I didn't want to ruin any future work and thought it was best to address that the last wisdom tooth was in fact shifting and agreed to remove it. The extraction seemed to go as planned, but three days after the surgery, I was feeling pain in my sinus and nowhere near the extraction site. After a week of feeling like I was getting worse, I made an emergency appointment before my post-op visit just to see if everything was okay. By the time I was able to be seen, I started experiencing communication between my sinus and the extraction area. I had a constant drip of what I can only describe as an infection taste and smell from the extraction site in my mouth and from the one nostril on the same side. I couldn't get an appointment with the oral surgeon before my post-op follow up, but the general dentist was able to confirm I developed a fistula from the extraction and said I couldn't get any treatment until my next appointment with the oral surgeon. I had an oroantral fistula from the extraction for a month until I had another surgical procedure to close it. Meanwhile, the entire time I kept asking about infection because of the smell, taste, and discharge I was experiencing. None of it seemed to be taken into consideration and of course, resulted in another emergency visit only because my boyfriend dragged me back to the clinic after I had been in constant misery and blood would not stop pouring out of the one nostril for half an hour. I described the misery I had been in, that I knew something was wrong and it was not getting any better. 3 months after this, they did a second closure and I was hoping there would be improvement, but I continued feeling worse. No other practice would take me in for a second opinion due to the nature of the complications and recent surgical procedures. I had been on 7 courses of antibiotics in 4 months and I continued to decline enough that my primary care physician told me to get to the emergency room. I had a CT of my sinuses and was told the side of the extraction was completely obstructed from severe and chronic infection and would require immediate intervention from an ENT. I provided the scan to the oral surgeon before my appointment with ENT and he told me nothing was wrong. I literally just had an emergency doctor and my primary care physician review my scan and they could see how bad it was. This guy literally told me, "I don't see anything wrong here". Anyway, after a thorough exam by an ENT, my sinus on the side of the extraction became so severely infected and obstructed for such a long time, that not only do I require sinus surgery to fix it, the sinus ballooned out enough to bend my septum enough that I also require a septoplasty. My recent visit to see both Dr. Ledin and Dr. Cipriano were excellent. They and their assistants Melissa and Callie were over the top great as well. Dr. Ledin has treated me 3 or 4 times, crowns and other... all great. Dr. Cipriano is the KING of root canals ! his helper Callie was helpful to put me at ease also. This recent visit was my best dental experience yet. They have state of the art equipment and training !! read more

My wife and I went for our 6 month routine cleaning. We were happy with our current dentist, but someone recommended them over our dentist. So we wanted to try them out. Our experience is you better be ready to pay a lot for their cleaning services at this office. They told me I needed a deep cleaning. When I told the doctor I just had deep cleaning 6 months ago he then said maybe a good cleaning at a cost of 200.00 dollars out of my pocket! Then I checked on my wife who the said needed a deep cleaning also? And it would cost us 800.00 dollars out of our pocket for her. So they wanted 1000.00 dollars to clean our teeth that we regularly clean every 6 months? Stay away!!! read more

Attention management!! Went for cleaning. The hygienist (older lady with short hair. Forget her name) was unbelievably rude and rough. So rough that the procedure was so painful and I have gum pains everyday after she did my cleaning. Never had this problem before. So rude that she denied me to give tissue to wipe remaining chemicals and blood after cleaning. Asked me to walk out all messy. Didn't allow me to use restroom before cleaning. Didn't offer anesthesia. Overall this office is fine but terrible experience from the disgusting unimaginable service from the hygienist. I hope mgmt notice this and fire her immediately as she is not normal and shouldn't be given such job responsibility. read more

The Female orthodontist was in the hallway talking while we waited 45 minutes for a consultation. She was quite rude when I explained we visit 3 orthodontist to find out which one we like the best, who was most punctual and best pricing. She told me that she wouldn't want to go against another orthodontist plan(which we were still in the process of finding the best fit for us), so there was no plan in place. I think the young woman really should be more respectful of patients time and not be so rude. I should have walked out...Don't waste your time with this orthodontist, as she could care less about your time. read more

I have friends & family who have received care here so decided to check it out. Everyone from the greeting desk to the docs is very nice. They seem thorough. It's a little too 'corporate' for my tastes as I prefer a more personal experience with my providers. Some services the dentist does not perform so refers you to their in-house specialist. The problem for me is that they expect you to book an appointment with this specialist without ever even meeting them:ie no consultation. I'm not comfortable with a complete stranger performing a procedure on me and consider it to be ill advised based upon my previous experiences. Additionally my quote for recommended procedure was overly broad: $335-$1333. Should be able to narrow it down closer than a $1000. Overall Ok for checkups, cleanings & fillings but I would need a change in their policy to consider any other services. read more

I was looking for a new dentist after moving out to East Mesa and I could not be happier with Gateway Smiles. Dr. Mansour was extremely kind and informativ, he went through and carefully explained the whole appointment and things he was seeing along the way. Hygienist Kristen was funny and made the cleaning feel so quick. Assistant Delia was incredibly helpful and the whole team feels like they work very well together. I had X-rays and images, an exam, cleaning, and fillings done in under 2 hours and at a price I could not believe. Sent 3 kids for braces - two have no problems and one got screwed. They pulled 2 permanent teeth and put in a "permanent" retainer that fell out numerous times. Now she has a huge gap in her front teeth that would put Lauren Hutton to shame and they want me to pay for braces again. And why would I pay thousands of dollars again for crappy service. I have been going to this facility for many many years and given them close to 10,000 dollars and I get told its her fault for not wearing that plastic retainer more. I call foul and will be contacting any and all agencies I can so this does not happen any other teenagers. read more

Went in for a new patient exam and cleaning. Fell prey to the "you need a deep cleaning" scam that a few others on here also mentioned. Was told the cleaning would be $840. When I told them I just wanted a regular cleaning like I get every 6 months, they told me they couldn't do a regular cleaning because I need a deep cleaning and it's an insurance issue now because of the diagnosis they put in the computer. The dentist also said "a regular cleaning is basically just polish anyhow." Their gig is a scam and I will not become a patient there. I would rather pay full price at my former dentist who is amazing (I only left her because she doesn't take my new insurance) then become a patient here and get ripped off. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Ledin for ~3 years now and have always had excellent professional dental care. Imagine my surprise when I returned home after a 6month absence to find a debt collection notice for $82.30 dated Oct 2020 ( last visit in early July when balance paid of $158 for cleaning). The office staff were unable to release records revealing the billing breakdown. My Aetna insurance could not explain, and the debt collector's mail box was 'full'. I am a senior citizen and am unwilling to pay this charge without any record explaining the charges. Dr Ledin has not responded to a letter recently submitted. Think I will need to look for a new dentist. Very disappointing. read more

Let me start this review off by saying that, like most people, I'm NOT a fan of the dentist's office...let alone dentists. After several years of avoiding the inevitable, I went to AZ to get a third opinion on my teeth and was amazed at the professionalism, capability and attentiveness of the Gateway Smiles team. My doctor was Dr. Oates, and I was thoroughly impressed with his candor and knowledge for such a young dentist. In fact, it was a significant change from the tired, jaded dentists I've stuck with and made all the difference when he implemented modern techniques and youthful zeal to my visit. They were able to make a crown onsite (in under 35 minutes) and addressed two very dilapidated fillings. My mouth now feels 110% better than it ever has! Being in Los Angeles I am surrounded by myriad dentists with tons of options, but if I can help it I will make the trip to AZ every year to visit Gateway. It is seriously worth it. read more

Went there and they did x rays and the office staff told me what it would cost 304. That I was saving 76. With the insurance I got in desperation never saw a dentist. If someone looked at the x rays they took you would have though they would have told me it was still infected I was in so much pain and had been dealing with it over 2 weeks. On disability I don't have that kind of money... went back to genital dental to get more antibiotics and some pain relief.... went another dentist comfort dental only to find out that the tooth was still infected like I didn't know been in this body for 54 years and they can pull the tooth for 100. read more

Poor communication on Gateway cost me $1500. Finally got everything straightened out with my insurance and went on Nov 6th 2020 with my $1500 INSURANCE CO-PAYMENT for FULL DENTURES. Explaining I would be moving to Cali 9-2021 and also I would be unavailable January and February of 2021. I was reassured from Gateway that I had plenty of time to accomplish FULL DENTURES. After they took impressions for my temporary dentures the Dr told me bc I'm on Prolia I needed clearance for my extractions from my PCP. The Dr walked me to the front desk and said and I quote "we cannot proceed any further till your PCP signs this medical wavier". This to me meant that along with NO EXTRACTIONS there would also be NO TEMPORARY DENTURES sent out. After all what if my PCP said no? So between Nov 6,2020 and Dec 30th I called more than 10 TIMES to Gateway Smiles to let them know 1...I hadn't heard back from my PCP and 2...to ask if they had heard from my PCP. GATEWAY SMILES TOLD ME NO. Time was cutting close as January was around the corner. Around Dec 28th I called Gateway again spoke again with SIDNEY. Told her I was getting nervous about no word from my PCP on my end and Gateways end. I asked Sydney what the procedure was to refund my $1500 as I didn't believe I would have enough time to start and end the process of FULL DENTURES before my move to Cali. I was reassured by SYDNEY that it would take 3-5 business days to get my money returned to the original payment. So when I called on the following Friday to have my money refunded I was switched to CALIEGH and was told my money wasn't being returned. That my temporary dentures were made and that's what I'm being charged. I said that $1500 was an Insurance copayment towards full dentures which would cost $10,00.00. WHY WASN'T I TOLD MY TEMPORARY DENTURES WERE MADE DURING ANY ONE OF MY NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS. All of a sudden I request a refund and then and only then was I told my Temporaries were made. I was upset to say the least as I borrowed against my life insurance for that $1500 insurance copay at 8% interest. I sat on this NO FOR AN ANSWER over the weekend. Then called Caleigh again the following Monday to try and reason with her to return my INSURANCE COPAY and again was given NEW INFORMATION that my PCP okayed the extractions?????? REALLY? My response was I hadn't heard anything back from my PCP. I was told again my $1500 went toward making my temporaries and I could pick them up and take them to my new dentist in California. My response was my temporary dentures are useless as you, GATEWAY refused to use other dentures I had already bc u couldn't and DON'T use or guarantee other dentists work. Caleigh refused to issue me my $1500 back as I was promised by Sydney. Tried to dispute the payment with my bank and was denied without giving an explanation as to what Gateway responded. I'm disabled, on a fixed income and borrowed against my life insurance at 8% interest. Need I repeat the GATEWAY DOCTOR SAID WE CANNOT PROCEED ANY FURTHER TILL WE HEAR FROM YOUR PCP!!! So why was my temporary dentures made? Why wasn't I told that my temporary dentures were made? Why wasn't I told my PCP gave the go ahead? ONLY AFTER I ASKED FOR A REFUND WAS I GIVEN ANY UPDATES ON MY DENTURES. Hope you sleep well at night GATEWAY SMILES after taking food from my table. Dr Oates is our family favorite. We've been going to him for almost 3 years now. The kids are very comfortable with him They don't fix cavities on children under 5 but they will do the checkup and cleaning. My daughter has also recently got her braces on from the orthodontist in the office.
