Despite husband's Immobility and frailness, David managed to get him in the wheelchair and delivered him to the home. Great service! But on the return, another younger driver refused to help my husband to get back in bed from the wheelchair so he sat in it for an hour before his nurse arrived. They just 'dumped' him in the living room and also had a hard time getting the wheelchair up one step into the home. I understand the liability issues but their website gives the impression they will help with patients with mobility issues.

Deborah at New Century was so kind to spend time with me on the phone, hear our concerns and give us some direction as to how to keep my grandmother more comfortable while we waited on our hospice company to return our call. She then had a nurse call me as a follow up, who told me to call her any time day or night with questions. And all this was out of the kindness of their hearts as it seems it may be too late to make a shift in hospice companies due to how rapidly my grandmother is declining. Our family wishes we would have looked up local companies ourselves rather than following the hospital's lead. We would have gone with New Century if that had been the case. So if you're near this area and in the unfortunate need of hospice care, I would encourage you to consider New Century Hospice. Because if they were so kind to us, imagine how great they must be with patients and caregivers who are paying them!

This is not a review on the care provided but only a review of the property as back in the dark ages (1981) I was a nurse at the old Shepherd Hospital which this hospital replaced several years ago. It's a beautiful, modern facility. It's an unusual configuration for a hospital. Lots of big windows and attractive waiting area. Best of all were the staff at the desk in the second major area I stumbled upon (I was searching for a room number that doesn't exist at this facility!) Included a very young man and a young woman. Very polite and friendly and A+ in term of helping me. When she asked me the name of the patient I was trying to visit and I told her she immediately searched their system and advised no one by that name there. I asked if they were networked with the other facilities in Texas and although they were not -she made a call and was able to locate the patient at their Austin Main Facility. Is that great customer service or what!!! Sadly I failed to get their names but they were part of the team that was working at 2:15 PM at the unit that seemed closest to the ER there. If anyone reads this that may know them please pass along this Kudo!!!! If you have to go to a hospital while you're in the hill country this one is readily accessible. Their billing person confirmed this. Their website has a lot of info about the billing process as well. -They are flexible and will work with you to negotiate your dues to get the accounts closed out. I was stressing about the bills but their super nice billing lady helped us out. -Open 24/7. I looked at other options that were technically deemed in-network for my insurance plan and some were closed on Sunday. One of our visits was on Easter too. Why even bother with another ER when this place will bill in-network anyway? -Amazing nurses and doctors. Everyone is really nice and patient and takes great care of you. We've been there 3 times since November. Twice for my little guy (he was 1 during our first visit). Nurses and doctors were so nice and patient with him (and he definitely screamed a lot). -It's never crowded or full of sickly people. Not sure if that's a sign they don't have enough business though? PLEASE GO HERE SO THEY DON'T EVER SHUT DOWN. -Easy parking. -There's a cemetery next door which leaves a chance to make a morbid joke upon your departure.

She also doesn't appear to practice evidence-based medicine. After her asking me what I eat in a typical day, she asked, "Where do you get your protein?" (Ugh. The idea that protein is hard to come by is flatly wrong and severely outdated. As Dr. Nestle, chair of the NY University nutrition dept. said, *26* years ago "We never talk about protein anymore, because it's absolutely not an issue, even among children. If anything, we talk about the dangers of high-protein diets. Getting enough is simply a matter of getting enough calories." The DV/RDA is ~8% of calories from protein, while grains are ~13% protein, vegetables 23%, etc.) She then tried to tell me that I had to combine plants foods to get a complete protein. (That was an urban legend promoted by a popular 1971 book, whose author recanted ten years later. The USDA nutrient database shows that individual vegetables, grains, and beans have all essential amino acids, in higher amounts than what we need.) Finally, she said I should eat more fat. I asked if there were science to support the idea that an addition of fat to an otherwise healthy diet improves health outcomes. Her reply was like, "I've been a doctor for 20 years...." Meaning, no science. By the way, she asked why I chose her, and I said that one of her patients wrote in a review about how he was able to get off all his meds for Crohn's Disease. Dr. Ikbal replied that the patient took himself off the meds, it wasn't her doing. Anyway, after hearing so much misinformation in just a brief, limited interaction, I have to wonder what other misinformation Dr. Ikbal is operating on. If you want a physician who practices evidence-based medicine, you'll probably want to look elsewhere. UPDATE: After I left the above review, suddenly DOZENS of glowing 5-star reviews appeared within a few days, about 1/3 of which are from people not even in the Austin area, many not even in the same state, and many of whom have zero other reviews on Yelp. Yelp has understandably moved most of these to the "Reviews Not Recommended" section. Is Dr. Ikbal buying fake reviews? Draw your own conclusions.

She's reasonably priced, we've rarely had to wait more than a day to see her and in a crunch she'll make herself available by phone. One of the sweetest people you will ever meet. My grandmother is recovering from a fall that caused a temporary brain injury. We needed more help than I could provide and I was desperate. I found Care Renewed online and the reviews were all excellent so I called and Fritzi was in our kitchen in 2 hours to discuss care and had a caregiver for us the same evening. I finally had a good night sleep! The team that worked around the clock to take care of my grandmother was so warm, lovable and competent. I spent many hours there with them. They took care of everything in her home from laundry, cleaning, bathing to just hanging out and listening to her stories. It's nice to be comfortable with caregivers when they start out strangers and now feel like family. We had a previous experience with a home health company so I was reluctant to hire another. The former sent an aide that was sick and asleep when I stopped by. Thank you so much Ms. Fritzi for the care, attention to detail, hands on management, and the visits you made yourself to check on my grandmother. She is precious to us and you are all the best!

I was really nervous about staying in a Recovery House but this turned out to be a wonderful stay…read more Very cozy, clean, and the staff is super friendly and catering. The manager Alexis was super informative of the process of how things worked which eased my mind and helped me with the pre-op anxiety I was having. The driver Kim is so sweet and helped me with my luggage moment she saw me. She's very nice. The transportation vehicle smelled so good when I entered it and they have a bed in the back to help you lay down after your surgery. The other friendly face, Eryn, is AMAZING. She cooks for all of us, checks up on everyone and makes sure they do what they're supposed to do to feel better. Eryn and Nova are also exceptional and wow do I feel catered to! They have wifi so I was able to be on my laptop to kill time, and have access to Netflix and Hulu on the TV so I got to binge watch my favorite shows. I booked a private suite and made myself at home. I recommend bringing your own favorite blanket and maybe a small 1-2 pillows to help you acclimate to your new "home" for the days to come. I also brought my own pillow sheet because it helps with my curly hair so just a thought for those who are light sleepers like I am. The mattresses have like a clear wrap on them most likely to prevent any stains from drainage etc, so it will feel pretty weird to just lay on top of the sheet and feel the plastic underneath that. I brought a king size faux mink blanket; folded it hot dog style and laid it down as my sheet and the plastic feeling was gone, so yes bring your favorite pillow and blanket so you can settle in. The massage therapists are licensed and come daily in the morning. My room had a nice closet and bed frame with nooks in it so I could store all my meds vitamins socks etc. They provided me with a small plastic caddy too so I used that to put all my bathroom necessities in it to make my bathroom trips simple and don't have to worry about leaving things behind. Overall happy with my stay. Really relieved I picked out a good recovery home. There's also a snack area and fridge where you can grab Gatorade's, chips, snack bars, fruits, anytime you like. They keep the house pretty cold for sanitary reasons but they provide you with a comfy robe to make your life easier after surgery and to stay warm. It's hard for girls to leave reviews when they are in this amount of pain so while many don't leave reviews unless something didn't go great for them I can truly say any negative feedback that previous people left had me concerned but I can see the feedback was noted and accounted for because my stay is going amazing. Also each room has its own personal Window AC so I love that so I can adjust the temperature how I see fit for my own space. I prefer it to be much warmer. If you're coming from out of town I highly recommend this place. Will try to update with more pictures if I am up for it during my healing journey however as of now everything is GREAT. Update: Today I met Sam and she has been such a help. Between massages and helping me get undressed and dressed for the shower she has made my life easier. I also met Francis and she's so sweet. She made the best blueberry pancakes ever and they both made me my arnica teas to help me heal. My healing journey is going great and little by little I don't need as much assistance. Thank you guys so much for all that you do!

I would…read morenot recommend them due to an incident with one of the caregivers who was walking around our property (no reason for her to be outside) and her foot fell through a plank in our deck (not a damaged deck). We reported this incident immediately to HC. Alice, the owner contacted me and asked me to pay for the medical check using our homeowners policy. Are you kidding me, this was completely inappropriate - as they inspected our property before coming out and we were not the caregivers employer. We were losing our father and we were in no way financially responsible for this incident nor could we handle this kind of issue while facing the death of our father. I would definitely not recommend this company. I have been a healthcare administrator for over 30 years - and knew the procedures for employee incidents. This was so heartbreaking to have Alice to attempt to get us involved. I would not call this Heavenly Care........

The first time we scheduled the information we received from the attorney changed and so we changed the dates at the last minute and then had to cancel. Then our second attempt we were told that it took too long and too much effort to get caregivers for me and that because we had canceled at the last minute even though we paid the fee that was a huge inconvenience.

I call my Internist he somehow get equipment ordered from better c-pap company who contacts me and I pick up equipment. turns out the settings this sleep doctor orders is maxed out and I can't possibly tolerate it NOW I have to use machine according to my insurance guidelines (or else) but I cannot and I still cannot communicate with the sleep doctor. IT has been more than 5 months and still no help in this matter ( there's a lot more to this story.
