Each class is 2 hours. I didn't catch the name of our instructor but she was good. Aprons, acrylic paints, brushes, palette plate, water provided. She had a finished piece displayed as an example to follow and also did a painting live alongside step by step. If you wanted to order food or drinks from the restaurant there was a server/waitress available too, one section of the place was just for our event. In Sacramento I've previously been to Happy Hour Paints, Paint Nite/Yaymaker, and The Painted Cork so this wasn't a new thing for me, but it had been forever and awhile and I enjoy creating art, whichever the medium may be. What a great concept. Ahead of time, you pick a project you want to do, and when you arrive, your set up and personalized stencil are ready for you. Nariné and Michelle did a pretty good job handling the group of 15. Unlike other craft nights, their help is critical through many steps of the project, so there are occasional lags in time. However, this gives you a chance to chit chat and take your time. That being said, many projects took longer than the 3 hours. We didn't feel rushed, but I do wish it had stayed closer to 3 hours. I'd recommend thinking a bit ahead of time what colors you want to use and type of paint technique you might want to use. These decisions can take a lot of time at the beginning of class. BETTER THAN PORN!…read more My Husband was surprising me with some mysterious activity in Sacramento for my Birthday on April 2nd (a Tues) and upon getting into the car we had the following conversation: Him: So now that we are on our way i guess i can tell you what we are doing. We will be indoors with a lot of bright lights, so it's good that you did your makeup, and look nice. Me: Very puzzled expression. Him: Do you remember that move, "Zach and Miri Make a Porno" and how at the end their business is helping couples create their own studio-quality sex tapes? Me: Yeaaaaah... Him: Well i thought it would be nice, you know to do that, and its a really nice place with only women on set... Me: WTF?! You're kidding, we are absolutely not doing that! No, you're joking...and if you're not you better turn this car around! And he kept acting like this was legitimately his surprise for a another minute and was doing a really convincing job of pretending that he was for real, and thus my anxiety/anger level was increasing until he finally laughs and says, no we are going to a glass blowing class. Oh the relief! Obviously i was a bit mad at the deception but had to laugh at his uncanny ability to say all of that to me with a straight face. Anyways, the ladies of Girl Glass thought this story was hilarious and really wanted to have it said on yelp that this experience was better than porn, and it was! I do know that they made a special exception via emails and phone calls back and forth between them and my husband to arrange this private class for us because it was not a normal day that they would have done it. They even allowed us to go to their house, and we did it in their backyard, just the two of us. My husband and I each made ornaments, and it was a really unique and fun experience that I totally recommend to anyone with any interest in the art of glass blowing. Its mind boggling what they can do and how it works and also very hot!!! Long sleeves highly recommended! They do a demo, and then they guide you through choosing your colors and then actually doing it yourself/assisting in the creation of your very own masterpiece. You don't get to take it home right away but they have various arrangements for getting it once it is ready. Another sweet touch: they had asked my hubby ahead of time if i liked vanilla or chocolate, to which he told them chocolate and then after our ornaments were made they brought out two delicious chocolate cupcakes from a local bakery in honor of my birthday! It was above and beyond to even get them but they were to-die-for good too!!! And so, to the ladies of Girl Glass: I give you five stars and I say thank you for a wonderful memory. As a quick summary: Great supplies, very kid friendly, and the place is always clean and prepared for the kids. Lily and Ashley modify their teaching style to account for differences in each child. Ashley also makes a point to allow each kid to contribute and feel involved by letting them choose music for the day (usually disney, etc). Lily has mentioned they have a lot of free rein in deciding crafting projects and she mentioned Wendy gives them the creative space and funds to allow the kids a wide range of different learning experiences. The crafts are also fitting for the season and items that we are happy to display. Some recent examples of this that come to mind include decorative Mother's day vases, halloween clay figurines, and crafted trick or treat baskets. All in all, Bubblegum studio is great money spent for a variety of different crafts that allowed our kid a lot of hands on experience arts and crafts!

We have also done kids night and they enjoy an evening of crafts while my husband and I have dinner downtown. Adult craft we built a terrarium. Lots of fun for the whole family!
