There are…read morehiking trails through the woods, fields, up hills and down in between buildings and interesting artwork can be found all along the way. Many huge pieces that really grab your attention as well as some very cool smaller pieces that are much more subtle. Artists from all over come here to create their works in an impressive variety of media and are then displayed in many unexpected places on the vast grounds that visitors are invited to explore. There are many nice geocaches hidden all over the property as well and hunting them will provide you with a fantastic tour of both the artwork and the beautiful natural suroundings. Well worth your time to come check it out.

This past summer I had the opportunity to take a writing workshop with Gabrielle Danchick and Alice Smith Duncan. The workshop leaders spent six full days looking at book outlines for three separate genres: Middle school fiction, historical novel, and memoir. A very practical, hands-on approach, with time built in for writing and critique, made this an exceptional experience. In the setting of the SAW environment, we were able to choose different venues to read aloud, make suggestions, and work as a group or individually. I highly recommend this workshop for anyone striving to write prose and complete a published work. Food, coffee, tea, and other offerings are healthy and plentiful. Lodging available on site or in area establishments. Fee of $50/day was very resonable for the amount of attention I got for my writing project.

We can't even agree on where to vacation or a restaurant, so this is a great find. First, Jordana scheduled this directly with me, always quick to respond to emails. We had the price list ahead of time, so were able to check things out ahead. That was great. There were many different items to choose from, and we chose a paperweight, 2 vases and a bowl. Hubby started by making his paperweight. Throughout, Jordana answered questions (and we had many) and explained what we were doing. It was so cool just to be so close to the ovens. J and her helper (forgot his name) had their hands helping us when needed, and guiding us as we went through the steps. You turn the rod slowly, then you go pick up the colors you chose before we started, then you go back to the oven to get it hot again, etc. Was super. We were able to finesse what we wanted as we went along, too. So my daughter and I both made vases, but mine is a traditional straight sided vase in bright blues and hers is a triangular vase with a wide bottom in browns. So cool. We liked it so much we decided we would go annually for a family excursion. AND yelped helped us choose the Smoking Trout down the street for lunch, which we really enjoyed. I expected it to cost up to $500, but it was $375, including everything. I picked it up a couple of days later. This for us, was such a great choice. HIGHLY recommend this to families.
