I visited with my mom on Sunday recently during a holiday market event. The space was filled partially with booths and shoppers, but that just added to the coziness of the space. We had a seat at the bar and ordered a couple drinks from the lone bartender working that day. We also ordered a pretzel since we were starving. They'd run out of mustard, but at that point I didn't even care. The bartender proceeded to take couple more orders then brought our Old Fashioneds. They were very good, but he didn't ask if we wanted them neat or sweet and apparently they offer them both ways. Then he forgot about our pretzel order and took even more drink orders. I know because I watched him with growing hanger and just when I was going to say something he caught it and apologized. Eventually we got a warmed Milwaukee Pretzel Company treat to fill the empty space in me. I think this could be a great place to hang out with friends, with beer and a few non-beer options on order. They have the pretzels and Flour Child pizzas you can eat on site. You can also buy the pizzas to go. The service might need a little more attention, but this is a nice place to hang out. read more

After several visits to MKE, we finally made our way to Gathering Place Brewing. It is pretty far north from downtown, so we had not made it work walking although we had heard such good things. We finally made it this weekend and we loved it!!! First and foremost, the beer is high high quality. I dove right in and got a pint of the Maibock. It was scrumptious. A caramel fall delight! My husband got a flight and we loved all four samples! I tried his Interval Pineapple Wheat, Honey Lager, and Festbier and could have enjoyed a pint of each. Flavorful, complex, and rich! My husband also got one of the IPA's for his fourth sample and thoroughly enjoyed it. Beyond the beer, our experience at Gathering Place was top-notch. The bartender was super friendly and helpful, answering our every question with grace and care. We really appreciated him! The space is super cool. Wood-forward with plenty of plants (both on the walls and dangling from the ceiling), the ambiance is inviting, chic, and inviting. We loved the seating area and could have stayed for hours! Clean, cool, and we'll-maintained! We look forward to coming back to the Gathering Place Brewing next time we are in town. As Chicagoans, we wish this was our neighborhood bar! The style inside the brewery is so memorable! Beautiful arches in the entryway that reminds me of a church and a accent wall of wood. Lots of space to hang out with friends and play some games or just enjoy time to yourself. The beer tenders are very friendly and informed about the beers and make great suggestions. They even gave us a free sticker! Tried a flight before we picked a favorite to get a full pour. I enjoy that they mostly stick to more traditional styles of beer. I would suggest getting a solid Lager or depending on the season a Dunkel here as they're done well. They also let you try a few sips before you order a beer if you are not sure if you will like something which I always appreciate as I tend to want to try something unfamiliar to me and sometimes get stuck with a beer I don't enjoy fully. They also have a few coolers of to-go beer options that you can buy. Pretty off the beaten path, but easy and close street parking right out front and they have a smaller sign hung outside the building so you know you're in the right place. I don't know why it's taken me so long to go to Gathering Place Brewing, I've enjoyed their beers in attractive cans for years. In north Riverwest, just south of Capitol Drive, this place is in a light industrial area of Riverwest that has lots of potential. Entering the brewery under a welcoming arch, it truly is a place to gather. It seems like a good place to while away a few hours. My visit was to pick up a bunch of cans to go, which were being cleared out to make way for the new! I've enjoyed Gathering Places "Heated Debate" DIPA and their Friendly Debate IPA, as well as the MBV-inspired can of #shoehaze Oatmeal Hazy Pale Ale. Of the cans I picked up, the 180 Gram Vinyl porter was amazing, and I also really enjoyed the variety of the other beers such as a Rye Lager and Dortmund Lager. There are a lot of taproom exclusive beers that I look forward to coming back for, whether it be safe distanced indoor drinking, or carryout in the Growler. read more

Gathering Place is such a nice venue. We've been members of their beer club/society for 2 years now. The staff including the owner are always really nice people. That makes it all the easier to support a good watering hole. They've got a nice range of beers, and some inventive stuff we get via our monthly beers as members. Very cool, open venue. It's never too busy there and we love that we can bring our dog. We didn't venture out much during the heart of the pandemic, but would occasionally pop into Gathering Place. They took Covid precautions seriously and we always felt safe as possible there. read more

Discovered this brewery tucked away in an unlikely location in search of some good Oktoberfest beers to tap. Can't believe they've already been open some 3years. Don't care too much for the outside or the location, but the interior is nice. There's a pool table, big open space so you aren't really too crowded (plus there really weren't too many people there anyway), and everything is well sanitized and clean. Can't really say much about the vibe here, cuz we were only in to grab a few crowlers (1/2 size of a glass growler - it's like a huge soda can that can be filled with any of their beers on tap, then sealed like a soda can. More airtight and will probably last longer than a glass growler), and it was still too early for the dinner crowd (5:30pm) but I can't imagine it'd be anything but pleasant because of how nice our bartender was. Didn't get his name, actually, and he's not really the bartender. He's the sales guy, but he was working the counter when we went for some reason. He was the only one working at the time, probably because it was still too early. Super friendly and super informative. We were able to get a few tastings of different beers on tap so we could decide on which ones to get on the crowler. We were told that their specialty is with Lagers and their beers are generally lower in alcohol content. The idea behind this is that they like to make their beer so they can have more beer. If the alcohol content is too high, they'd be wasted after only a few. LOL. Personally, I can't drink too many beers anyway, because I get too full, so I like my beer with a little umph, but to each his own! So their Oktoberfest was a little too weak for me and hubby. Not so much in alcohol content, but it was really a very light lager, and we are usually into a more hoppy drink, like the IPA. Their IPA was actually really good, as was another one that I don't remember the name of. But beer tastes are really personal. I'm sure you'll find something you like here. Date of visit: 5/22/22 Some friends graciously hosted and coordinated a wedding shower for my fiancé and I at Gathering Place Brewing Company and it couldn't have been a more perfect venue. Many of the guests marveled at the space and were thoroughly impressed with it. While this area of town isn't known for its ease of parking, there is plentiful street parking available, which is key. The staff, especially Christian the bartender, were incredibly accommodating and friendly, helping everything go off without a hitch. The boozers in our midst loved the drinks that they had to offer and the prices were very reasonable. We had just under 50 attendees and the space was just perfect for the event. Should you need a place to host a gathering for a similar amount of people, you really can't go wrong with Gathering Place! read more

Not sure why it took us so long to make our way to the Gathering Place but alas it did. Now that we have finally made it, we will be back! This is one solid joint! It's located in what I will deem the dead zone of Riverwest. Industrial and not much else around. The Gathering Place is in the Syndicate of Riverwest breweries, holding the floor with such giants as Lakefront and Black Husky. The collaboration beer they created is tasty as can be, Syndicate series #1. They also have a solid selection of other craft beers and are a great addition to the craft beer scene in Milwaukee. So what will make me come back, dog friendly! Yes, the place is dog friendly and that is a big bonus! You have a well-behaved pooch, bring em! Enjoy the space and relax. Flux Design, which used to be neighbors and recently moved, created the interior of the space. Lot's of dark wood gives the Gathering Place a unique feeling all it's own. I was impressed with the style and beauty of this facility. One of a kind gem! Pictures don't really do it justice you need to get inside. I'm so happy this brewery is back and open to the public. They make fun and interesting beers that I really haven't had anywhere else. I'm always pleasantly surprised by what I get here. We have only been to Gathering Place a few times, most recently for the curbside pickup they are offering. We have always enjoyed the beers, and now even more so as so many breweries are only doing adjunct-heavy beers. Gathering Place really knows how to make a solid, well-done beer true to style, with a lot of fun offerings you probably won't find anywhere in Milwaukee. We've really been enjoying the German-style brews! (Which coincidentally pair perfectly with the nearby Milwaukee Pretzel Company Bavarian pretzels - Gathering Place carries them as well!) The curbside pickup option has been wonderful - it's extremely easy to place an order online, call when you arrive, and the order is brought out. I appreciate the thoughtfulness and precautions put in place that make me feel comfortable given the current COVID-19 situation. Gathering Place is a hidden gem and definitely worth a visit. Came here on a short trip to Milwaukee during a snowy weekend. We had signed up for a brewery tour, which I this was around $10. It was short and sweet, since the location isn't too big. But the tour guide was really personable and it was a fun small group. The beer itself was also really good. My favorite was the White Tea Ale. We also bought some glasses, which were about $3 each. The bar area is nice and quiet enough to sit and chat with friends. I appreciated that it wasn't super crowded and didn't have music blaring. I had a nice time and can't wait to come back. As far as food, I don't they have much. I did get a pretzel, but I think their thing is that you can order food to the bar. I don't know if you can bring your own food, but it would be nice to know. read more

Groupon takes us lots of places on our adventures. STAYCATION 2019 took us to Gathering Place with 5 sample tastes for 2 people (aka, 10 6oz pours). With 11 beers available, we went all in and ordered one of everything and summarily went through each one. Such a great variety of beers. We both loved the #shoehaze ("it tastes like berkeley", aka our former hometown) and Trefftpunkt. Staff were great and Thursday 3pm regulars were on point for great conversation. We will be back, likely for quiz night the first Monday in the teens. read more

We went to the Gathering Place on a Weekend night and really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, it just wasn't a great experience that I could recommend. The beers we ordered was ok but warm. But the appetizers were far worse. We ordered the sampler and was told beforehand that the cheese curds were uncooked. No problem but so was the sausage. They were both served still in their wrappers with no toothpicks, napkins or presentation. The pretzel was warm, but bland and served in a basket with a side bottle of mustard. This place has a lot of potential but they should discontinue the apps/snacks until they're "all-in" on that category. read more

I had a groupon for this place that I had to use so I decided to finally go. I'm so disappointed that I hadn't used it earlier! This is a hidden gem. The inside is super spacious and well decorated with lots of seating. The beer is great and has a wide variety and the flights are very generous. Some of our favorites were the Festbier and Captain Kirsch (a dunkelweizen) but there are many other options. Food, as far as I could tell, was limited to a large pretzel offering with mustard (add some cheese too please!) which was from Milwaukee Pretzel Co. and was delish. Gathering Place is a solid place to hang out, maybe play a game, and have a beer or two. It doesn't have any sort of interesting neighborhood scenery, it isnt even in a good neighborhood. It doesn't have any overly stellar beers, but all options are good and drinkable. It doesn't have any unique food offerings, but the pretzels are enjoyable. It is kind of one of those places that are not outstanding, and are not bad. It is the kid of place that you would have no qualm coming back to, but it also isnt the kind of place you are going to be waiting with bated breath to check out again. They have a fairly large beer menu, all of which is presumably made in house. Everything tastes good, and the pricing is right. If you are looking for an interesting microbrewery in the Riverwest area, check out Gathering Place. Maybe you'll use your refined palette to appreciate the beers more than I did. read more

If you haven't checked out the Gathering Place, make it your next stop. They are a bit off the beaten path but their space is beautiful and there is plenty of parking. Soft pretzels are available for purchase, 5 oz size and 10 oz size. While I was there, there was also a crepe food truck parked outside serving up savory and sweet crepes. I love breweries with limited or no food, work with food trucks. The Gathering Place Brewery has a wide array of beer available. All beers are available in flights (5 pours for $15 if I remember correctly), $3 half pours, and $6 full pours, though I'm sure those prices are subject to change depending on the beers. I was quite pleased with their Paterbier (a style I'd never had before),Priere as well as their beligian tripel, Three Linden. There are a variety of ABV levels, with some beers coming in over 8%. I love their slogan of Brewing a Stronger Community and that they give a percentage of their quarterly sales to the community. I'll for sure be back. A very nice new brewery, with a good selection of beers. They have good variety in their line up sure to please everyone. I especially liked their Belgian style, Priere. I visited Gathering Place Brewing on 3/5/22 around 5pm. I visit craft breweries as a hobby. It does appear to be off the beaten path in an industrial area. It's very close to E. Capitol Dr, but you wouldn't know it coming in from another direction. I was immediately attracted to the decor which included dark wood and Nordic shapes. It looks like their choice of beer styles also matches this motif. I was surprised at how empty the tap room was compared to Amorphic Beer and Black Husky close by. There was only two other patrons present. My bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable. He informed me that they weren't doing traditional flights at present but offered me the option to have tastes of whatever I wanted to try. I tried a couple & probably liked the dunkelweizen the most, which I was told was on limited supply and I wouldn't be able to get a growler (I bring my own glass with a cooler & ice). I was given the option of buying in bottles & I bought two at $6 each. This is a little more expensive at the size, but I liked the beer. I have bought from a brewery in Madison that offers organic beers in 500ml bottles at $5 a beer. With the world events at present, this might continue to change as prices for hops and barley will fluctuate. I had some slight momentary difficulty in connecting to the free Wi-Fi, but it was stable once connected. My gracious bartender gave me two free brewery stickers upon request for my collection. I did not stay long & Gathering Place was my last stop for breweries in Riverwest, but I would return as their beer was intriguing with a dedication to traditional styles. read more

As good as it gets! I wanted to check out a newer brewery with my extended family and I was very intrigued by the unique beer list at Gathering Place so we gave it a try. I am so glad we did! Tour: We signed up for a tour which was a bargain and included 4 free samples. It was just us 5 that had signed up so we ended up with a private tour with the founder and we were able to ask all sorts of annoying questions and hear all about the history and whats going on with the brewery. Food: they have large Bavarian pretzels to order but other than that, you can bring in or have food delivered. They mentioned a good pizza place nearby that would be a good option. Atmosphere: The have a design company as a neighbor and it shows! Really beautiful and comfortable space with lots of seating options, a large bar and more or less open to the brewing area. Bathrooms were super clean! This brewery is family-friendly and there are lots of games available along with soda options. Beer: I saved the best for last. Delicious and they had a huge variety. Probably something for everyone. I think I tried at least ten and nothing was bad. My favorite was the high abv Wordsmith which was described as a Wheat Wine. I also really liked the Stor Bjorn (Belgian-style) and Sprited Debate (IPA). All in all, a friendly place with a beautiful taproom and delicious and unique beers. read more

Decent newish brewery in Milwaukee, their beer was ok, lotsa heavy stuff and high ABV beers. I got the dry debate and mercy. There was no wi-fi which was a little annoying. Not that I demand it every place I go, but most craft breweries these days have them to add to the cafe-esque hang out atmosphere. No food, but they had food trucks outside. Solid microbrewery in riverwest. A bit off the beaten path but well worth it. We used the sip deal to get bogo flights so we could taste pretty much all their beers. Im more of a dark beer/imperial/IPA guy and all 5 tasters I had were rock solid. Wifey is IPA/wheat/hefeweiser gal and all hers were also great. Owner was tending bar and was totally engaged with all of us and super friendly! Cool artwork from old water buffalo restaurant is now on their wall. We will definitely be back. read more

Riverwest has a lot of great beer options and Gathering Place is a great 'new kid on the block.' The block specifically is Vienna, right off Humboldt and you never really have to worry about parking, unless Flux Design next door is having a huge fundraiser event like they were one night recently which was pretty cool so I didn't mind. My favorite is the belgian tripel with cherries but you'll have to check back for that next fall, in the mean time I'll be drinking the Stor Bjorn (which I lovingly call the stormborn) and the Three Linden. The tap room has a relaxed vibe, they have some games, friendly bartenders, and pull out a TV for the packer game. Check it out, I think you'll enjoy it! read more

First, and most importantly, the beer:I had an opportunity to try all 4 brews available during the grand opening and I honestly enjoyed them all. I think the coolest thing is that each beer was unique; not just your standard IPA, lager, stout, etc. My favorite was called Priere and is described as a "Belgian-Style Single." I don't know what that means, but I like Belgian beer and this one was delicious. Also available during the grand opening: Storbjorn (Norwegian Style Farmhouse IPA - a little funky, but still really drinkable), Dom (German-style Pale Ale - my second favorite; a bit hoppier, but not like a big IPA) and Spirited Debate (American IPA - surprisingly fruity and again, not overly hoppy). Prices are super reasonable and a variety of sizes are available: sample, half or full pint. The space is really beautiful. I understand Flux (which shares the building with Gathering Place) had a lot to do with the design of the taproom area which features a lot of deep blue and wood. I especially love the arch over the entry and the reclaimed wood wall. There are plenty of tables with stools for small groups and a large table for games or just hanging out. You can also belly up to the bar where you'll find an awesome staff. Everyone who helped me throughout my time at the brewery was knowledgeable, helpful, and really friendly. A couple staff members seemed to be especially excited about the business opening, and truly passionate about serving customers which just made the experience at GPBC even more exceptional. They don't serve food, but welcome you to bring your own, or order delivery. The feel is really similar to an indoor beer garden which I think is a great concept for Milwaukee. I love a beer garden in the summer, but in the winter this is where you'll find me! Word on the street is they're hoping to get a projector situation set up for Packers games. Street parking is easy to find around the building. They have a collection of games to play while you sip. I'm a big fan and will definitely be back! read more

Gathering Place is a great place to taste a high quality beer and enjoy the space. The variety of beer is amazing and so varied, from Hefe to a double IPA. I really enjoyed the option for flights. It was fairly cheap to try small portions of the beers. I really enjoyed the Spirited Debate IPA. As an IPA fan, I was impressed by the complexity and depth of flavor in the beer. The tap room is a really neat space, with lots of cool art around the bar area and also games to play. It is a bit off the beaten path but, definitely worth the drive. read more

Nice little neighborhood spot that serves very good beer. They actually have a very big selection of beers on tap, so finding something you would like shouldn't be very hard. I LOVED the personal service. As someone who worked for Disney, I appreciate customer service. So, when I asked at the beginning if I could get a sticker, I was told that it wouldn't be a problem, that stickers were not only plentiful but free! So when I cashed out -- I found out that all stickers at this time had been dedicated to a particular cause. Which I understand, but nonetheless didn't not disappoint my sticker collection. My bartender handled it brilliantly by comping one of my drinks, but the owners should be aware of these types of commuters and ensure collector items are always available! read more
