Horrible company Stay away for your safety! Bought a used 2024 trailer and paid for brake and barring inspection and service to make sure everything was ok. 7 months later, about 10 trips and the barring came apart and wheel came off. Lucky no one was hurt. The service tech that looked at it said it appeared that barring was not serviced correctly and had no grease. Gator horse trailers response is we only warranty for 90 days. I guess I am to pull the wheels myself after paying for service to make sure that they did it correctly. It also took two months and call from dmv to get them to finally send the paperwork so I could register the trailer. I had to have dmv call because they would not answer phone when I called because my temp tag was expired. Probably one of worst owners of a company I have ever encountered. read more

***consumer beware*** I feel responsible to make the horse community aware of a dangerous repair performed by Gator Horse Trailers of Ocala, Fl. Gator is now blaming a company called RV Connection for the repair work but my correspondence and payment were with Gator. In January of 23' Gator suggested I have them replace my old coupler with a new one solely to provide more clearance between the trailer and my bed rails. The trailer is an 06' and the truck is a 19'. The bed rails on new trucks are much higher now than they were then so this is not an uncommon problem when putting an older gooseneck on a newer truck. In July of this year, a year and a half after the new coupler was welded on by Gator Trailers, I was driving with trailer loaded with horses on an expressway and the weld on the coupler gave way resulting in the coupler completely detaching from the trailer. Luckily I wasn't going very fast and I was able to safely pull over and get assistance to get myself and my horses off the highway. The trailer was sent directly to a repair yard where multiple professionals looked at the weld. The weld was cold and had no penetration (see attached pictures) which was the reason for the failure. After contacting Gator to make them aware of the incident, they have taken no responsibility. They are blaming RV Connection, a separate business that rents space from them. When I told Christa, the owner of Gator, that my payment for the work was to Gator, she told me yes the money goes thru Gator but she and Gator have nothing to do with the work. At the time the work was performed, I was never told RV Connections was doing it. Christa told me to send her a list of my expenses incurred due to the accident. After sending an itemized bill complete with receipts, she promptly told me Gator was not responsible for anything and therefore would not be reimbursing me. She said Rich with RV Connections would look it over and decide what he was willing to cover, but that was weeks ago and Rich has refused to return a single call. Christa has now blamed me for excessive use of the trailer, she told me I must have driven thru a ditch or driven with the foot down, the trailer hasn't been maintained properly, and her last accusation was that the brakes on the trailer must have seized up. My bare minimum losses exceed 21k worth of damage with the majority of that being 15k worth of damage to my truck. At the end of the day I am lucky I am not dead and my horses aren't dead. It could and should have been so much worse. After doing some digging there are many reviews on both these companies for shoddy work. If you've had any repair work done by Gator Trailers/ RV Connections I strongly recommend having the work checked by a reputable company. Christa is now trying to silence me by accusing me of slander even though I have proof that everything I've stated above is true. read more

Thank you to Gator Trailer Sales for your outstanding service on my 2023 Merhow. I was having trouble with the entry doors and the refrigerator door, I called them, they got me right in and fixed it while I waited. OUTSTANDING!!! From the office to the service department everyone was top notch and got me going in an hour. I travelled several hours to get to the dealer and they were able to get me out of there so I didn't have to drive back again to pick up my trailer. Thank you to Christa, Alex and particularly Colin who got the job done and got me on my way. read more

not sure they deserve the 1 star at this point. too many issues to list here but the main one is we paid $150 for tags through this dealer when we bought our trailer. 30 days later and we still don't have a tag and have to keep calling because they won't call us back. I would recommend going some where else to buy your horse trailer. read more

I gave Gator Horse Trailers one star because I could not give less. I don't know the quality of my new Merhow Living Quarter Horse Trailer yet as I have only used it twice. My review is based solely on the customer service I experienced from Gator (particularly the owner, Christa) and Merhow. In February 2021, I looked on line at a Merhow Trailer Gator had for sale and by April 10, 2021, I made the deal and gave a $10,000.00 deposit. The trailer was to be ready in June. June came and went so I call Christa to see when the trailer would arrive. She said, due to COVID, it will not be here until July. I totally understood the delay...it was no problem. I heard nothing in July and in Mid-August I called Christa to explain that we had a trip planned for Labor Day and wanted to know if the trailer would be ready for that trip. If not, I would cancel my camp site reservation. To my question Christa said: do you want to cancel your order. I said: who said anything about cancelling my order. She ignored that and said it would be ready in October. That was my first inkling that something wasn't right. On October 6th I texted Christa asking the status and she said: "On production. I'm getting updated pricing". I said: What does updated pricing mean and she told me I was paying $11,000.00 more for the trailer because prices went up. I said we signed the deal in April and I put $10,000.00 down. She said you can have your money back or pay more. I then called Merhow and told the regional manager, Matt, what Christa was doing. He said she was not doing a good job of communicating price increases. I asked if Merhow was charging Christa $11,000.00 more for the trailer and he said he would check. He did not respond to my emails after I asked that question. Horse trailers were scares so I assume she knew she could get more from someone else. I argued with Christa to no avail and, since I had been waiting 6 months already, I decided to meet her demands and sue her later. On December 14, 2021, Christa texted "your trailer is heading down" and asked if she should send it to have the generator installed. I said yes as I didn't need the trailer until January. Two days later I asked if she would notify me when it arrived at her place in Ocala and she said "I will let you know when it is on the road". Hmmm, so my trailer is heading down but it is not on the road yet...interesting. Nine days later I asked if the trailer arrived. She said it is heading down Monday, December 27th. So now it is getting somewhat comical. On December 30th the trailer arrived and Christa said it is going to the place to have the generator installed. On January 13th I asked if the generator was installed and she said no, I will give you their number so you can call to ask them when it will be ready. I was amazed that it became my job to track the progress of when I would receive the trailer. We finally picked up the trailer around Mid-February. About a month later I realized that I was driving with an expired tag. I called Christa and she said it was okay because I am not going to get pulled over. So now she is a psychic? The tag came a few days later. Conclusion: This is the worst I have ever been treated as a consumer. I would never buy anything, including service, from Christa and would never buy a Merhow Trailer as the dealers did not intervene on my behalf. Steve Squitiro read more

I wanted to just tell you all how great the customer service is at Gator! I live in San Diego and found a horse trailer on their site. Christa with Gator was VERY prompt with text communications and walked us through everything we needed....including dealing with the CA DMV...not a small task....especially for someone who lives and works across the country! Gator Trailers does not stand by their work. Richard worked on our trailer which resulted in such a serious head injury to my horse that the horse was in intensive care for a week with a 4 inch hole in his skull. Richard took absolutely no responsibility for it. I would never take anything to Gator trailers again. I am not the first person either. If you search you will find lawsuits from other negligent repairs made by Gator Trailers and Richard. Gator Trailers has Richie as an employee and they pass the buck by saying that Richie has his own company separate from Gator, however they don't tell you this until you have a problem. The other lawsuits were huge errors on Gator and Richie's part as well. Look elsewhere, don't be fooled by the great deals. You get what you pay for. read more
