I just had Nelson's install a wireless camera system with monitor for my horse trailer. They did an absolutely amazing job and the cameras are crystal clear. I also had them install and hydraulic landing gear no more cranking 47 times the lift the trailer off the truck. It literally takes five minutes to hook up and disconnect the trailer now read more

This is a long review but read the entire thing and you will see why! You'll also see why I gave 5 star reviews. I wish I could give both Nelsons and Kiefer Built 6 stars! To start. I've been using Nelsons for service for my horse trailers for 15 years and they have done a great job for me over that time period. So when my wife and I decided to trade our 2003 Sundowner 4 horse LQ in to purchase a new trailer we went to Nelsons to see what they could offer us. We are getting up there in age so this will most likely be our last trailer purchase. We gave our decisions a LOT of thought and consideration at every turn. During a visit for routine maintenance on one of our trailers, we had seen a Kiefer Built there we liked. After really looking at it, we deemed that we liked the design but wanted something larger to accommodate our "herd" of 4 horses. We talked to Seth about ordering a similar design but with a 16' stock area instead of the 13.5 foot one they had on the lot. We ended up trading in our LQ trailer as well as a 24' Sundowner stock trailer and a 94 two horse weekender 4 Star plus a bit of cash for a brand new stock back, mid tack 10' LQ we designed from KB. Well, there were some problems out of the chute. This all transpired during Covid times and the trailer was first built 2-1/2 feet short! This was discovered as the conversion company was outfitting the LQ area. We stopped the entire process and Nelsons contacted KB. Nelsons stepped right up and got a new trailer built for us as specified. To KB's credit, they had no issue getting our trailer prioritized and in line for quick production. It got delivered a year after we were supposed to get the original trailer but they respected the price as contracted even though aluminum prices had skyrocketed! The current cost would have been over $20 k higher! Kudos to KB and Nelsons on this. the subject was mentioned but never pushed as a possibility. Nelsons told me about it as an aside to how KB was getting our trailer to us despite the fact that they were most likely losing money on it at that point. But things got really interesting upon receipt of the trailer. Quality control during construction was obviously NOT prioritized during its construction. We had to send it back to the factory for some major fixes and repairs after only 3k miles. This was done promptly and without any dissent from either Nelsons or KB. We got the trailer back and I expressed concerns that there were some inherent design defects in the trailer that would cause more failures in the near future and possible catastrophic failure in one area in particular. I have an engineering background and own a component manufacturing business that makes products out of aluminum and am VERY familiar with the limitations of structural aluminum products. After one more 3k mile trip we had significant signs that my predictions were coming true. I called Nelsons and they completely agreed with me and told me to bring the trailer in for them to see. They readily agreed to resolve the issue to my satisfaction even if it meant a full refund of my cost! How many businesses would do that for a customer?! After contacting KB, it was decided to ship the trailer back to KB. They were VERY cooperative. I ended up dealing directly with David Greene, Jr at KB and to say he was accommodating would be an understatement. I won't bore you with why the problems existed. KB had employee issues during Covid that caused them a heap of problems. The same as MANY businesses did. But what they did was address EVERY issue I had by stripping the skin off the trailer, adding structural elements as well as changing a few things I did not even ask for to remediate potential problems down the road. They even built a beautiful aluminum propane and battery box to replace the shoddy one built by the outfitter who did the LQ conversion. It wasn't even their work they were fixing! We got our trailer back on Dec 26. KB zeroed out the warranty and is treating our trailer as brand new from that date! This entire process could have been horrific. Instead, due to the professionalism and integrity of ALL the parties involved, we now have the trailer we dreamed of! We will continue to do business with Nelsons Trailer Sales and Kiefer Built Trailer. These businesses are a rarity in today's world of disposable products and quick buck operations. My hat is off to Seth, Bob Kennedy and service manager Shannon at Nelsons and David Greene, Jr at KB. They took what could have been a horrible travail and instead created a lifetime customer! read more

My husband and I purchased our 3 horse Slant Load Kiefer trailer on 3/1/21. We went to 5 other dealerships to compare prices and inventory. Nelson's Trailer had the best variety of new and used trailers. However, most of them were already sold. We ended up purchasing a new trailer that met all of our needs and is versatile and large enough to haul our warmblood or lumber or a golf cart if need me. Nelson Truck & Trailer Sales (Nelson), sold us a horse trailer that was dangerous and unusable. Then ghosted us. Since we were out of state, we relied upon the salesman and the photos he supplied to gauge the condition of the trailer. Our own smaller trailer is older than this one, but in pristine condition and well maintained. We were looking for this particular model horse trailer in similar good condition. The salesman assured us it was in good condition, and had no problems. We did not see any damage in any of the photos he sent. We went with Nelson, rather than a private third party, because we wanted to use a reputable dealer, to ensure we didn't get taken advantage of. We did not want to fly to FL due to Covid. We therefore relied upon their professionalism. Nelson seemed to have longevity in business, and we thought they had a good reputation. We paid a transportation company thousands of dollars to haul the trailer to us. When it was delivered, it was clear that we had been misled. This trailer had a long list of what was clearly old damage, including, but not limited to: -It looked like it had been high sided long ago. It had a bent frame, and all 22 weld joints were broken down one side. The damage was clearly old. -Support brackets were bent and folded back -Bracket on jack in front broken -Bars broken on every joint -The support bars to receive the horse dividers were ripped out and gone -Cracks in every joint -Many re-welds, all broken -Tears in the floor had been patched, which broke, hidden by the floor mats -The front side panels on the gooseneck had been replaced, without telling me. This indicated they had received some sort of damage. -Holes in door -Lock on door didn't work, key missing, and the door wouldn't stay closed -The entire side of the trailer wasn't straight My husband called Nelson very upset. Seth told him not to worry. He told him to take it to a trailer repair shop, and they "would take care" of him. Two different repair shops told us that the trailer was structurally unsound, unsafe to use, and irreparable. Both said it would be too big of a liability for them to touch it. We let Nelson know this, whereupon the company stopped returning our phone calls and emails. They simply ghosted us. We therefor disputed the charges with the credit card. We supplied myriad photos of the damage. We also forwarded the emails from the Nelson salesman, which included photos that did not show any of this damage. We provided statements from both repair shops. This trailer could have killed the hauler on his way to us, and innocent drivers on the road. We told Nelson that we have a child who would be riding with us when we hauled that trailer. We love our horses, who would be riding inside. This trailer could have killed us all, and those around us. We told Nelson we'd be hauling our 2500 pound draft horses. I wouldn't feel safe hauling a miniature horse. Nelson Truck and Trailer Sales couldn't have cared less. We had to spend months on a credit card dispute. This ruled in our favor, as the evidence was overwhelming that we had been duped. We will have to investigate whether it was even legal for them to sell a dangerous trailer to use on the roads. We still have this death trap trailer on our property. We never got the pink slip. Nelson won't return our calls. What are we supposed to do with this? They need to remove this glaring proof of their perfidy from our property, and have it scrapped. When I think how much we paid for a trailer that was dangerous to use, with damage they concealed from us, and which could have seriously injured my child, or worse, it makes my blood boil. The hauler could have died bringing this to us. We're out the money for the transport. Do you know what they said when the bank contacted them in regards to the dispute? They said the trailer was sold as is, and it was an older model. They said since the hauler arrived in one piece and alive, the trailer must have been safe to use. That's like saying since the Surfside condos hadn't fallen down yet, they must have been safe to occupy. That's how lightly they took that man's safety. That's how lightly they'll take your family's safety. You remember that, if you set foot on their property looking for a vehicle or trailer. read more

Nelson's trailer service is AMAZING and they get a 100 in my book! I was traveling from south Florida to Texas with my boyfriend and his 12 horse trailer. We were loaded down with 9 horses and discovered the trailer breaks stopped working. Any horse person knows this is a total nightmare to have a trailer issue when loaded up and far from home. Not to mention a huge safety issue if we needed to stop suddenly and only had the truck breaks (trailer will jackknife and flip and would possibly be fatal for horses and people). The other issue was it is HOT and the horses were stuck in the trailer. I called Nelson's after finding them online and they were able to get us in and out FAST. 1 hour tops and the price was MORE than fair! I was expecting 3x as much. Shannon at the front was so sweet and helpful and she and one of the mechanics knew we would be arriving around lunch time but they stayed through their lunch break to make sure they could help us get back on the road quickly! She offered to let me and my 3 dogs come in the lobby and wait in the AC while the mechanic quickly diagnosed the problem and got to work. Miraculously, they had the part in stock and the know how to get the job done right and FAST. People and businesses like this are HARD to come by. The trailer breaks are working great and we are back on the road before lunch hour even done. Praise GOD for Nelson's trailer and their kind honest staff.
