It's super bowl 2015 made a order for take out and we got burgers and fries and nachos and fried pickles and side salad. The burgers were ordered medium they were good and so were the fries. Nachos not so bad the chili tasted like it was old and way more chips than toppings. Fried pickles were breaded not battered, they were pretty good. I liked my side salad it had nice toppings but for size it was not worth 4.25. Over all it was pretty I would go back and have a drink. read more

I'm a business traveler and am in the area 10 days a month. Used Yelp to find a good place to relax,listen to music and have a beer. Both times I've stopped here it was after 10 pm. Apparently the only time the staff pays attention to customers is during the day or when they have live entertainment. Customer service is not their specialty. read more

Gatsby's used to be an entertainment destination maybe 20 years ago. Sadly, it seems as if ownership hasn't put any money into the place since then. During my last visit, there was a stench coming from the sewer or a dumpster that was so foul, it was like a rotting carcass or human waste.....all over the outside bar area. This place was like my personal hell. We went here drank some sodas at the beginning and was listening to country music. After awhile I started to get hungry so I decided to order a rueben. Took some time to come out but I finally got it. The sandwich did not have much meat on it, and came with some soggy fries. This was my first time here. My friends and I decided to check this place out after a nice dinner on Saturday night. We are in our 20's, and the average age at Gatsby's had to be right around 50. They made us feel welcome though. The live music was loud and rowdy. The dance floor was electric. The bartender was very friendly, he even gave us suggestions on drinks to save us money. I drive by this place ALL the time when I'm going in and out of Gahanna. Suring the Spring and Summer, it's definitely the place to be as it's always packed with a crown inside and out. I've visited on a few occasions outside of the normal "peak" times and found it to be quite pleasant. They offer the usual pub/bar food but it's all done fresh and well seasoned. The burgers are adequately sized and the onion rings are to die for. I have children so I doubt if I'd ever visit with them during a weekend but for a simple dining experience, it's definitely on my "to-do" list. read more

The local Gahanna police patrol the parking lot to see how long patrons have been there, and I have even seen them come in and walk around while on duty. My wife and I recently went to my class reunion at Gatsby's. It was completely packed in the upper bar area which completely overwhelmed the bar staff but they did a great job of trying to keep up so A+ to the staff!! The pizza on the other hand was by far the most bland I've ever had. No taste to the crust, same with the sauce and the cheese didn't help much either. On top of that it was kind of pricey once we added a few toppings. It was so bad we both agreed frozen would have been better. The bar is okay if you like the neighborhood dive type although I must say this place is much better in the summer. read more

Was in town for Rock On The Range festival and visited Gatsby's both the night before and for lunch prior to the first day of music. Great band Thursday evening. Perfect way to get ready for three days of heavy metal. Scott, the bartender at the patio was super cool and all the staff has excellent customer service skills. So good that I went back for lunch the next day after driving all the way downtown with a few hours to kill and received lousy service from a S**thole place called The Main Bar. Yeah, I'm a fan of Gatsby's usually because I have a coupon, but last night, no coupon. Two nights in a row, I had a dinner date with my wife. We'd been to Gatsby's, a Gahanna landmark since the 1970s. It's close so it got our business. Wife had their chili and a Waldo bologna sandwich, which came with lettuce and tomato; unnecessary, at least on a traditional friend bologna sandwich. I had a patty melt and a chef's salad. Patty melt was excellent. The salad? The cost of the salad was over $8. A huge bowl of fresh iceberg, about half a head. A large unripened tomato, quartered. A hard-boiled egg, quartered. Four small rolled up slices of ham and turkey. Julienne strips of yellow and white cheese that had no taste. I ate about half the lettuce and all the other stuff except the tomato quarters and the cheese. They really could reduce the size of this salad, charge less, spend less on ingredients, make more profit on the dish and present customers with a reasonably sized salad. I know chef's salads are intended to be a meal, but in its current configuration, this chef's is a waste of money to order and to serve. read more

I'll start by saying that the description of the restaurant originally attracted my wife and me as we are really into local pubs and simple grub. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet our expectations. We came on a Monday night which is apparently trivia night, which is of course all well and good except it meant that the service was abysmal. We stood awkwardly at the front of the restaurant eventually having to ask the bartender to sent a waitress out to greet us on the patio. The waitress throughout the meal was rude, short, and unfriendly. We started with an appetizer of Cheese Stix which was okay. It took about 15 minutes from ordering for the appetizer to come out. We then ordered. I got the Gatsby burger (supposed to the the house special) and my wife got the Cod. After about 20 minutes, the food came out. It seems as though this place does not know how to cook a burger! I ordered it medium and received a completely overcooked, well-done burger. Now I am not one to usually send food back as it is uncomfortable and wasteful, but I had the food sent back and asked for another MEDIUM burger. Meanwhile it took 15 more minutes to flag the waitress down to do so, and she gave me a dirty look when I asked for another burger. Meanwhile, my wife ate her Cod which while good, she said tasted mostly like a Filet-O-Fish from McDonalds. Starving while my meal was being re-cooked and watching my wife eat her meal, I took a bite of her fish and had to agree. After 20 more minutes, my new burger arrived. Now when the waitress dropped it off she insisted that I try it front of her to "ensure that it's cooked right." Now this might sound nice but she said it sarcastically and seemed annoyed. When I took a bite of the new burger, it was AGAIN well-done! I thought for a split-second about sending it back again but at that point we had been in the restaurant for an hour and a half and I just wanted to get out of there, so I ate half of the second over-cooked burger much to my dismay, with the help of about a pound of ketchup. We finished our meal and after two hours high-tailed out of there and stopped at Dairy Queen to help salvage the night. To her credit, the waitress credited us $5 off for the inconvenience, but I would have rather paid full price and gotten a nice meal. Summary: over-cooked, flavorless burgers, fast-food level fish dishes, rude and incredibly slow service. Would NOT recommend, and will NOT be coming back again. read more

Horrible wait staff. The waitress was carry out a full blown conversation with her friend we thought she was a guest. We had to go to the bar to serve ourselves. Guinness was cold, pizza was good. We stopped in on Saturday of the first round of the NCAA tournament. They were plenty of open tables and nice size TVs to watch the game but we won't be back. We went on a Sunday at 9:00 on the dot. We like to typically get a variety of things to eat, we hadn't had breakfast or lunch all day so we were looking for a good dinner. We were disappointed we couldn't order any appetizers and could only choose between 3 subs because the menu had been shortened. There were about 25-30 people inside, but all in one room because the other areas were closed. We order a drink shortly after we sat down. The drinks took about 7-8 minutes to come to the table. After we got our drinks , we were offered a menu. The menu was down to only pizzas and subs being offered. We got a pepperoni pizza and an Italian sub. The food took about 25-30 minutes to come out. The pizza has very nice crispy and curled pepperoni with a good portion of cheese. Pizza sauce tasted really good but the crust looked undercooked. The Italian sub had plenty of meat and was perfectly cooked. We ordered some mixed drinks. The first margarita was weak, and the second one was a little stronger but not by much. Still weak and almost tasted watered down. Server was nice, but we waiting a while on drinks. We realized it was because the bartender who was making the drinks was having a lot of side conversation with patrons at the bar. The server stood there for 5 minutes waiting for the drink to be started because the bartender was too distracted by his conversation. I felt bad for the serving because slow service usually means less tips, so I hope this isn't a usual problem because it wasn't her fault, it was the bartender's. Overall, the experience was decent and we would like to try them on a different occasion. read more

I love this place! You can find me here many a Friday or Saturday night. The food is good and inexpensive, the drinks are generous and not pricey. The live bands are usually fantastic and the dance floor is almost always crowded. My biggest complaint is that Gatsbys is so popular it's always packed to the gills and there's not much room to manuver. There are wooden beams on the dance floor that make it a bit awkward to dance when crowded, and the dance floor is a bit on the small side. The bands that play here (eg: The Jack, Soul Kitch'n) inevitably make you want to dance so this is a drawback. The back patio is HUGE and you can almost always find a game of cornhole going on. There's also a smaller front deck and patio for a less crowded gathering. There are three bars: outside, inside and upstairs so it's pretty easy to get a drink. If you're in Central Ohio and looking for a fun place to dance, you'll want to check out Gatsbys. read more

Great service and friendly place to go to. I travel 25 miles and pass a lot pf places to go to this one. You feel like "Norm" on Cheers when you walk in. Every one knows your name! They have a bike night on saturday nights and bands outside and the downstairs bar and NEVER A COVER CHARGE. With 3 seperate places to hang out in you can always find the right place depending on your mood. Plenty of seating without being too big or too small.
