This place is a throwback to the Three's Company era of watering holes...a food and alcohol bar built in the midst of an apartment complex. I think the Black Horse Inn used to be in this very spot. It is an excellent place to grab drinks with friends. Good beer selection. Strong menu for such a small place. We have ordered appetizers, sandwiches, pizzas, and they have all been very good. I actually had a pal ask me to pick up a carryout order for him once! The odd: a smallish outdoor area exists but it is mostly brick and concrete with limited seating. Still, good for the smokers in your crowd. An around the corner inside gameroom exists with classic arcade and other games. There is a weird area behind the lottery machines that looks like it used to be solarium seating or some other groovy Seventies thing, but it now appears to be disused. The troubling: when residents of the complex are mostly home, parking can be had but it is a bit of a challenge as most parking spaces are full and people parallel park haphazardly all over the nearby street, I suppose because it is a private street and ticketing can't occur? In any case, this is a diamond in the rough. Come for the drinks and friendly staff, stay for the food and whatever game is on TV, and enjoy an out of the way spot that will amaze your drinking buddies. Hell, you can probably win a first round of drinks just by proving this place exists. And don't forget TouchTunes. With the cheap drink specials, sometime I spend more on ear than beer. read more

Grandview and Upper Arlington adjacent it is tucked away among apartment buildings, so you may never find this little gem unless your searching for it. The staff there are kind and engaging and make everyone feel right at home. They have a pool table and electronic dart boards, so bring your friends out and challenge each other for drinks. 14 Twenty is an unusual bar. It's in the middle of an apartment complex, but next to Bonopizza. The food at the bar isn't that good but there's great pizza next to it. It also serves food later than many other bars. They have good specials through each week. I was there to go to Bonopizza. It's located in an apartment complex along Presidential Drive. This is more like a local neighborhood dive bar than a dance club. It's surrounded by nice apartments so you wouldn't think it would have much character. The atmosphere is laid back and cool. It has a good music selection. This isn't where you'll find underage skanks dancing to Bieber. It has a typical bar menu. This isn't so bad because you can bring in pizza from next door. It serves food until 2 if you want any. The bartenders are very good and the drinks are cheap especially for vodka shots. I wouldn't mind going to 14 Twenty again. It's a good bar close to Grandview. The bar is next to Bonopizza so that's something else going for it. read more

A friend took me here with this intro: "yeah, it's a bar in a condo complex." Would you have gone? Me neither. But I did...in the name of friendship, of course. And wouldn't ya know, it really was a bar in a condo complex, hidden in the back. That said; it's pretty awesome. Let's break it down: -Good liquor with a particularly absurd selection of vodka. The friend that dragged me there knows Steve-O, who was bar tending that night (I think he's either the owner or manager or something like that). Steve-O makes a mean drink. I was DD'ing so I kept the bevs to a minimum but my buddies raved about every drink and shot he made. -The wings. Oh the wings. I was stone sober and not hungry at all but my drunk buddy INSISTED that I try one of his "Arizona Dreaming" wings (it's dry rubbed then deep fried). After several attempts to avoid the wing, I caved....and I'm so glad I did. After one wing, that's all I thought about for the following week. Last night, I told my husband that we absolutely had to have dinner there so I could get another fix of those delicious wings. ps-we also ordered potato skins which were equally delicious...they're REAL potatoes that have been scooped out, topped with cheese and REAL bacon, and get this...baked instead of deep fried. -Atmosphere: pretty basic local watering hole setting, which is just fine by me. There's billiards if you feel like shooting some pool and a nice patio with plenty of spots to set your drink down and chat with friends as well as a few tables to sit and relax. The crowd is awesome; everyone is so friendly and social. Don't be surprised if random people approach you and ask you how you're doing or tell you that they like your shoes. -Music: really good. There's a jukebox available but from what I understand, the bar tenders play mostly stuff from their iPods and cell phones. It's a good mix of all your old favorites but at the same time, the typical obnoxious "dance bar" tunes are kept to an acceptable minimum. -Food and drink specials: They have food and/or drink specials every night of the week. Tacos, pizza, PBR and Buckeye shots. The website tells all. Long story longer...I'll be back again and again. Do yourself a favor and find this place. read more

My husband and I came here because I had bought a groupon. I'm a sucker for a good deal since we haven't lived here long and I like to explore different places to eat. The bar was small, the food was good, and the service was excellent. If it wasn't for the cigarette smoke that bellowed in as the door opened and closed near our table, I would have given the place five stars. Ordered from here for the 1st time and boy was I amazed. Not only did they have great drinks but the food was so good. I ordered the wings and pizza & my friend ordered the tenders and mozzarella sticks :) Everything was super hot and service was great. Looks like they did some new renovations and they are sweet. Blah waste of time Hit up 14 Twenty after work hungry for a burger. It was dark so I was afraid it would be hard to find but right when you hit the Presidential dr. loop you can see a sign for it. Walked in and I smelled the stale stench of old smoke, not a fan. The bartender helped me immediately though which was nice. Ordered up the Urban burger. Did not take long to receive my food and it was fresh. but As soon as I looked at the burger I could tell it was a low grade of beef; like the kind I used to get in grade school at the cafeteria. It tasted like it too. The bbq sauce on it was nothing special and the bacon was crumbled instead of left in strips. It was probably 1 piece of bacon on there, no bueno. The fries were nothing special either. I could have done without this dining experience. On a positive note the meal after tax was only 7.42 so maybe I received what I paid for. I never really had a chance to actually try their food. Every time I called to place an order, they hung up on me. The first time I thought it was a dropped call but 2, 3, 4 times...just rude. I Live 900 feet away and I will never eat there. FYI their website says they deliver but, untrue. They only do so "through GrubHub" which charges a 5$ delivery fee. Ordered via grubhub because I was pretty much dying of hunger. Large Bacon, Pepperoni, Mushroom came out to $30 for delivery after fees/tip ($7 dollar fee, and $4.50 tip). Pizza was really good, not... $30 good. Would for sure go back for pickup/dine in however. read more

We're visiting from out of town and looked on Groupon for a good deal with a low key atmosphere. The deal seemed good since we had so many people and we decided to try it out... and we're glad we did. First off you would be hard pressed to find employees that would treat you better then these guys. Courtney(hope I spelled it right) was great. When we entered, since we had such a large party, we were worried from our first impression that they wouldn't be able to accommodate our group. Courtney immediately assured us that they would take care of us with no problem, and after hooking us up with Ruth(who also was fantastic) they moved a bunch of tables together and we were good to go. We ordered pizza and chicken wings per the groupon, and I have to say that I "WOULD" go out of my way for their wings again... pizza was OK. The service was what made this an overly enjoyable experience, and one that we will happily repeat. read more

Local dive bar ... but don't challenge Bobbie (one of the owners) on the bill if he's bartending ... as a multi-year regular customer I made the mistake of asking him about the charges on my tab at the end of the night. Instead of taking the time to explain the charges, he just flat out banned me from the place. Terrible customer service, especially from an owner. And he was training a new bartender that night!
