Literally the best meal I had in Blacksburg and nothing else in town came close to it! Service was awesome also as the waiter was very informative and helped guide us through the menu. Amongst three people, we got the 9pcs assorted premium appetizer, tour family platter with 12 oz ribeye, and the moqueca to share. It was honestly plenty of food to go around and everything was so delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by how juicy both the pork chop and grilled chicken were (they're both not usually my proteins of choice). Nevertheless, the best protein was undoubtedly the ribeye, followed by the picanha. The polenta squares from the appetizer sampler were so amazing and I wish we had ordered more of that! We got 3 different types of sauces (chimichurri, garlic mayo, and a guava-based one)-- our favorite was the chimichurri. Highly recommend to stop by this place for dinner! We found a new favorite restaurant in the Blacksburg area. Gaucho was great from start to finish, with a side of very friendly service. We shared kielbasa as a starter and it was great, nice char, juicy and a good sauce. I had the ribeye with the cauliflower Gorgonzola sauce, again great. We shared the tapioca bites which were also good and the coxinho (chicken empanada ish) were great. The plantain fritters were fried plantains, good but not really fritters. We celebrated our son's graduation at Gauchos, one of the first places we ate in Blacksburg freshman year. Still has the same atmosphere, like being in Brazil with family! She explained everything and made suggestions while not being pushy about anything; she was polite, patient and respectful. Ordered everything a-la-cart; getting the sirloin, chicken thigh, grilled zucchini, grilled jalapeño, tapioca fritters, and the black bean/sausage soup app with jasmine rice and chimichurri sauce side. The arrive at 6:30 on a Thursday night and we're seated immediately. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We explained we had never been here and they were more than happy to explain how things worked and made suggestions. The place was a little noisy but not so that you had to yell to be heard and the music was at just the right level. As for the food, the provolone smothered sirloin was absolutely delicious, tender, flavorful & cooked to perfection. Everything we tried was delicious and seasoned just right to accent the natural flavors without overpowering the meal. We will definitely return. Loved this place. Service was friendly and food was excellent. It's a basic steak house with Brazilian twist. Steaks are tasty and juicy. Not aged steakhouse quality but for so good for what it was. We enjoyed our steaks. Green Salad was tasty and the appetizers (basket of 12) with sauce was delish. The desserts were so yummy. Their take on fudge is very different make sure u ask before u get. My son lives in the area and we actually went to this place 2 years ago (it hadn't been opened very long). Of course I forgot to write a review back then. Here we are finally visiting again after COVID, so of course we thought of Gaucho, especially since it's my son and his family's favorite place. It's not cheap, so they don't get to eat there often, but it's worth it. The first time we ate in the restaurant and had a fantastic server - our experience back then was that everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. Tonight we ordered to go. They cook everything to order (nice!) and it was still ready in about 25 mins. Luckily my son lives close, so everything was hit when he got it home. We got the Feast - which is an amazing amount of food - a sirloin steak, ribeye, chicken thighs, pork chop, both sausages they offer (kielbasa and Campiero - a made in house pork & bacon sausage) and chicken hearts. We chose the house salad, and the Estrogonofe. We also ordered 3 Square Meals (one sirloin, one ribeye and one Camperio). We also ordered the tapas tour as an appetizer. We had several dipping sauces - the standouts were the chutney (so fresh and with a depth of flavor that you can tell it's homemade. The finish is spicy, but not over powering), the chimichurri and the Caulizola (a cauliflower and Gorgonzola blend). The food was as good as we remembered! The steaks were cooked perfectly! The bean stew is amazing - so comforting. The Camperio was a little dry, but the kielbasa was super yummy! I am a big fan of the house salad - the dressing is refreshing. But I have to say, my favorite was the Estrogonofe! This was our first time having it and oh my! The hint of sherry was perfect. The next time we go, that is going to be my choice. This is such a welcome choice for the area - it's definitely different then other places. I also love that it's locally owned. The praise I give this place pails in comparison to the cuisine delivered to me. I ordered their Tapioca Dice, the 12oz Ribeye, the Campeiro Sausage, the house salad, and their house Cabernet. Let me tell you, this was an experience like no other in Blacksburg. The flavors were exquisite. The house Cabernet had a robust smokey flavor that paired perfectly with the phenomenally seasoned steak. I had my steak rare and the temp was perfect! The Campeiro sausage was mouth watering, a perfect snap with every slice you cut and bite you take. We went here based upon Yelp reviews and what a hidden gem this was. While it has an unimpressive exterior, the inside is well decorated and staff were very friendly and attentive. We split the Tour which included a ribeye, sirloin, pork loin, chicken thighs and sides. Everything was cooked perfectly but the surprise was the flavor in the sirloin and pork loin. There is plenty of parking space, which is an issue with some restaurants in Blackburg. The wait was very long... but as soon the food came in we forgot about the wait. Take a light jacket with you, because the AC is very cold... I love cold AC, and even I was chilling. The problem with this is that your food will get cold quickly, so eat the items you like hot/warm first - example Steak. I rank this as one of my top places to eat in Blacksburg. It's definitely on the pricier side, but it is absolutely well worth it. I ordered the Sobrecoxa/Chicken Thigh square meal, which appears simple, but it was easily the best chicken I have ever had in my life--no exaggeration. I travel for work and eat all over the country. I've eaten at alot of really good places and Guacho's is one of the best. The offerings are unique and authentic but recognizable and well explained. Prices are moderate but quality and serving size EASILY outpace the bill. Family owned and operated, the owners have always been there working during my visits. The bartender was excellent and makes the best Caipirinha I've ever had. You haven't lived life until you've tried one. In a time when "good help is hard to find" Guacho's has an unfair surplus. The place was packed and everyone was helpful, friendly and efficient. But mostly it stands out that they smile and interact well with patrons. They actually look like they want to be there. The meats are absolutely to die for! This is the best place in the area to grab dinner. It's also better Brazilian food than you get at places like Texas Do Brazil or Fogo De Chao. You can also watch the owner grille your food while you enjoy the amazing appetizers. It is a nice small restaurant where the owners (from Brazil) are always there making sure you get the best tasting food possible. Took my son out for steak here on a recent VT visit. All I can say is "wow!" Weren't sure we would get a table at first, but we arrived around 6pm, just as it was starting to get full and able to get a seat right away. Unlike your typical dark and dated steakhouse, Gaucho is bright and fun, more like a trendy coffeeshop. Very casual inside, with friendly young staff. The menu has all kinds of grilled meats and cuts of beef, prepared with a large variety of sides and in different ways. So many options, sauces and unique flavors! Have your meat straight up, in a crock, a salad, in a sandwich, with cheeses, veggies, beans, fries, yuccas, rice, potato salad (not all at once, of course). Where does it end? I particularly liked the recommended combinations, which takes some of the difficulty out of figuring out what goes together. I ordered a sirloin cap "Farrapos" with onions, peppers and potato salad, and my son ordered the rib eye "Trovador" with onions, mushrooms, provolone and rice. The steaks were so, so tender, juicy and cooked to perfection - elevate that with the sautéed veggies and sides and you have nothing but pure heaven. I had a Brazilian cocktail with mine that was delicious and similar in flavor to a margarita. Plan on spending $30 - $60 for the hardcore steak dishes, less for the sandwiches and salads. Not cheap, but less than what you would pay at a dark, fancy steakhouse and a hell of a lot more flavor at Gaucho IMO. I absolutely love this place and have recently been adjusting my travel schedule just so I can stop and eat here. PA. to GA. is a regular trip of mine and I used to make it in one day (10 hours). Now if time allows I stop about halfway to eat dinner here and stay at the Hampton Inn a few miles up the road.
