Dr. Akhbari and his staff are the BEST!!! My son had an ingrown nail and had it removed (permanent procedure) last year September 2023 by another doctor in the next city but it came back this year and hurt him a lot since August 2024. Went back to see this same doctor and was told it's not ingrown nail and that he must have hurt it when walking so he was prescribed antibiotics and we came back home. It was bleeding under the nail. The Doctor was so rough on my son and cutting some skin/nail with no anesthesia. My son was in so much pain. I had nightmares seeing how rough that doctor was. I wasn't satisfied with what the doctor said and my son was still in pain (and he didn't want to go to this same place) so I made an appointment with Dr. Akhbari. Went to him and 1st visit, one look he said it's ingrown nail and removed it right away. He was super-fast, amazing, careful and made us all very comfortable and at ease. My son had no idea when Dr. Akhbari was all done. The happy and relieved smile on my son's face made my heart melt that how this doctor was so different, knowledgeable, caring and understanding which was a huge contrast from the other one. I wish I had been able to get an appointment with him last year itself but I was in rush to get the 1st available one and ended up in that disastrous location. But, All's Well That Ends Well! Hope he never gets this ingrown nail ever again but God forbid if he does have any foot issues, Dr. Akhbari will be the one we see. Actually, I will be seeing him for my Orthotics as well now. I recently needed to have my hammer toes straightened. I was able to get into see Dr. Akhbari within a week, and as soon as my insurance approved it, I was in the office with the first surgery. I felt the Dr. had a complete and total handle on the situation. His bright smile would put the most timid at ease. He kept me engaged in conversation the entire time and before i knew it (appx 5 min) the surgery on BOTH toes was over!!! I am about 8 weeks out since surgery was done on the second foot and couldn't be happier. My toes are straight, no lasting effects, and my toes no longer rub in my shoes. Thank you. Had a wonderful, caring experience with Dr. Akhbari and the team at Gavilan Foot Care Center. Had issues with bunions for years. Knew I wanted a bunion surgery to correct it and not be in pain at the end of the day like I had been for the last few years. From consultation to surgery to recovery ... it was a great experience. The evening of my out-patient surgery, I had some bleeding issues on my foot. Dr. Akhbari took my phone call at 9:00 PM and told me to come in tomorrow to get a better assessment. All was well, but it was nice having piece of mind before heading into a weekend. Support staff was also very caring ... always telling me as I left my appointments "Please call us if you have any issues before your next visit." Definitely recommend this office. read more

Dr. Akhbari Removed my ingrown nails on both my big toes. I have been uncomfortable for 30 years. I was in fear of the pain that it would cause me to have them removed. There was no pain at all. He numbed up my toes did what he does and now I feel like a whole new person. I can wear high heels and pointed toes like I never have been able to before. The recuperation time was minimal. Doc Fisher did fix one of my two problems. But not the second? Billing and office is a bit of a joke! Got sent to collections over a payment they lost. I have copies of every payment. In fact we even overpayed by approx. $2. Now lets not through everyone under the buss. I did recognize some them honestly trying in the office, but for your account to go to collections over an error of their own and not to correct it is a bit sad! Where am I now. 1. Dr. Akhbari saved me from a long recovering surgery. I walked in to the office a couple of years ago limping and hurting because of my foot. Today I've nearly forgotten I ever had a problem and I no longer have pain. All done without every having surgery! A little physical therapy, and his strong recommendation for the proper foot wear was the trick. He was so patient and understanding and always remembered my last visit. I feel so fortunate to call him my doctor. Vionic shoes are what I wear most every day because of his good advice. My friends with knee problems or back problems have been helped as well by wearing the same shoes. If you need a REALLY good doctor, Dr. Akhbari is who you should call. read more

Went in to see my GP in the morning and he called Dr. Kaveh Akhbari and spoke to him about my condition. Dr. Kaveh Akhbari was able to get me in to see my foot that afternoon. When my schedule was too tight to allow him to operate that afternoon Dr. Kaveh Akhbari squeezed me in the next morning and operated on my toe to relieve the pressure. He was very professional and concerned with my condition. I am a type 1 diabetic and really need to keep my feet in good health. I am in good hands with this office. read more

Numbing my toe was not painful (which was my big fear) and the rest of the procedure was painless, too. The healing process after the procedure went well. The office is very nice and conveniently located. When I went several years ago for bilateral foot (and hand) stiffness and pain that was worst in the mornings, the doctor missed a possible diagnosis that, to summarize, should have been patently obvious to any healthcare provider, is treatable, and where early detection helps. To my mind the oversight was egregious enough that I thought I'd post. He did suggest I needed $300-400 orthotics, but luckily I have other doctors in my life who diagnosed the real problem. If I had to go back I might try the newer doctor. read more

Was charged for something that I was not given a proper financial arrangement for. Was never told what the charges would be and then when questioned, the office staff in the front was rude and unhelpful. Then, to top it off, Dr. Fisher told my referring MD that I was making trouble by questioning the bill and I was subsequently dismissed from my primary care doctor. This office needs to make patients aware of the financial burden that they may incur due to having treatment. It's just a courtesy that should be given to patients. Also, if you do have questions, you should be able to inquire without being treated poorly. Will never go back. Better podistrists in San Jose area. read more

I went in yesterday to see how soon I could get an appointment for KILLER ingrown toenails. They got me in in two hours (as a new patient, no less). The Dr. saw me early and fixed 6 of the 8 without surgery. He had his staff come in 45 minutes early just to get me in for the other two, and I was out of there within an hour. He's the kind of Dr that does whatever he can to minimize pain- avoiding surgery if possible, and actually making sure the numbing agent kicks in before starting, giving additional dosage if needed. I hate people touching my feet (more than just being ticklish), but I trust him implicitly, especially because he made time for a follow up when I was in pain I wasn't able to handle today. I recommend him for all my friends, as well as anyone looking for someone who is willing to work with you in terms of copay, and will see you on time, if not early.
