I've actually been to Saratoga several times before, and this was my first visit to the park, and it is BY FAR my favorite thing in Saratoga. The grounds are beautiful, and surprisingly large. The large buildings that house the Roosevelt Spas and more are well-kept, with the areas around them landscaped and looking like a beautiful college campus. There are also miles of hiking trails, equestrian trails, fishing, biking, disc golf, boating, and more. We weren't quite prepared, but walking around the park was enough. The tall trees, the running water...I just needed a little nature in my life. There is a reason that the Saratoga Springs are known far and wide, and the weirdly salty, effervescent water purportedly has a ton of beneficial properties. It also creates strange and wonderful rock formations, and you'll come across a few spigots where you can taste the water, and see how it affects the rock around it. I highly recommend doing a bit of exploring.

I was invited to play softball as my work place has a team that participates in a league. I dragged my son in with me and he wants to make a trip back to this park already. There are multiple softball grounds and has some historic significance which I have no clue. I got my exercise, my son had fun and that is all that matters. There were other kids there playing football, on scooter, bike, mini motorcycles, softball and some play equipment which looks fairly new.

I can't call it a "large park" because the areas where you can do stuff (a playground, a seven-move fitness area) don't take up a lot of real estate. It is, perhaps, a perfect sized park. We came for the playground area and it was a lot of fun. There were many slides and steps for kids to climb on, but I can say it wasn't built for toddlers. School age kids would appreciate the reach and engage with the challenges more. There was some candy on the ground (and bees... boo) but we were able to avoid them. Swings and ladders provided lots of areas to play. It is built on wood chips, not that rubber stuff, if that matters to you. It looks like this area was an old school, as a very large round paved area could have been a running track at one time. Another large, rectangular area seems the right size for a basketball court area. Now, both are just flat pavement. The area is bounded by several hills which likely would be great for sledding. There were also several picnic tables for snacking on, and a water fountain which was sadly enclosed with a fence. Parking was plentiful. This seems like such a nice playground in seemingly the middle of nowhere. I hope more kids discover and enjoy it.

The playground is mulched so make sure your kids are wearing appropriate footwear. My son usually plays on the swing and I take him there to use the basketball court. Its been a while buy I'll start back again in the summer. I have some bitter sweet and an adventurous experience and memory from this place. You can take a trail that connects to the local neighborhood and during winter I have seen kids sledding. There is ample parking space.

Lots of ducks on site and they came up to us, as it seems they may be used to people feeding them. I didn't have anything to give them so they were curious for a moment and then let us be. Enjoyed the fountains and gardens on display. If you're brave try a sip of the mineral water.

Congress Park is beautiful year round. It's well maintained and just a lovely place to rest as well…read moreas walk around. It's very picturesque and it's located in downtown Saratoga Springs. It's pet friendly and a great place to come alone, or with friends and or family. Where else can you have a picnic as well as shop nearby? I also highly recommend stopping into the Saratoga History Museum located in the Canfield Casino right inside the park. It's a very interesting place to spend an hour or so. A must do when you're in town!!!

It was hot though, and while lots of sheltering trees could be found around the perimeter it would have been nice if more shady things had been integrated into the play area. But, it had lots of stuff I had never seen before like rocking benches, cool sliding boards, and safe merry-go-rounds (ahh, bring back the days of the old metal ones that flung you off if you let go!). No dogs allowed on the playground itself, so if you bring one you are stuck also sitting along the edges watching.
