This salon has been a pleasant find for me. I moved to Cuyahoga Falls in 2020 and have been unable to find a place I liked well enough to continue coming back. I feel like I finally found it! Originally, I just needed to find someone who could cut hair and be consistent. That turned out to be Rachel. I tried two other salons and a barbershop--three cuts at each place (nine cuts) and all nine cuts were wonky. Rachel fixed what the barbershop guy hacked up. Now, through about five cuts with her, she's given me a youthful style that has looked good every time! It's more than just a haircut that keeps me coming back. I wanted to get my wife something nice for her birthday, so I got her the 'Deep Release' pedicure and bought a visit for me, too, so we could do it as a couple. We got Hanna and Amanda and they were great--so friendly and fun! The sugar scrub, foot mask, massage and even polishing (yes, I did--why not?) were relaxing and enjoyable. Oh, and the wine they served us was also quite delicious! That was in fall and my wife wanted to come back, so we were able to sneak in another pedicure just before the holidays. After another enjoyable visit, we knew pedicure season would be ending, so we booked facials with Hanna and Amanda--neither of us had ever had a facial. Now we have enjoyed two really great facial visits that were great ways to find relaxation at the end of stressful work days. My daughter & I have been frequent customers of Gavin Scott, receiving hair cuts, facials and waxing. This time when I called for an appointment, I never received a call back regarding the procedure. When I finally called back a third time they told me the person who does the waxing was not taking on any new clients. Ok, we've been clients there for the past two years! And I had to call three times to receive this conclusion. Not a good look and not going back. This is definitely not how you build a business. read more

Was able to get in to a last minute appt and the front desk was nothing but helpful and kind. The appointment was not what I expected though. The nail tech came out with no introduction and just took us to the polish and said "pick one" and stood there and watched us. It was oddly uncomfortable. The water temp was way too hot and I had to wait for her to come back as she had walked out after showing us our chairs. Once cold was added I figured it was good from there. The pedi chairs kept losing water and she had to keep refilling them. Mine didn't have the jets turned on until halfway through when she noticed it so I just soaked in warm-ish water. The girl did not talk at all which made it really awkward so I ended up picking up my phone and working through work emails - not what i planned to do but it was just really awkward. I tried talking to her a couple times and only got a couple word answers so I stopped trying. A manager or owner came back to look at one of the chairs and started asking questions about which one no longer worked so my treatment was paused while they looked over a different chair to talk about it. The treatment was decent but the polish was not ok. She used two coats but they were put on so thick it literally took HOURS to fully dry. I get pedis every month and have never seen anything like it. My toes are clumped and smeared and that's after keeping the toe separators in for 2 hours and not doing anything to cause an issue. $50+ out and just not thrilled. Not looking to go back or get anything fixed. I'll just find a new location. My appointment was done around 2 pm. It's now 11 pm and my polish is still soft where it is clumpy. I'll end up removing it and redoing it myself this weekend. read more

This review pertains only to the nail services at GSSS. I emailed to inquire about getting two manicures for my girlfriend and I, and the communication on the email was lacking i.e., didn't really answer my questions so I had to follow up. Once I got clarification on my questions I made a reservation (via email) for two gel manicures. Never heard back. Zero confirmation. Zero checking in prior to the appointment. I had to call the day before and confirm the appointment. The day of the appointment we arrive a few minutes before the time slot, and find out that they only had one gel manicure for the reservation. After some back and forth about the issue, they were able to accommodate both my girlfriend and I. The process was fine: no issues during the manicures and we left quite satisfied. However, less than one week later my $30 gel manicure is cracking/peeling at the corners of my nails. I am absolutely flabbergasted that this manicure didn't even last one week. Isn't that the supposed benefit of a gel manicure? Shouldn't it last longer than five days? I honestly wouldn't go back for a gel manicure at GSSS. Maybe I would get a men's manicure without any polish and save the $5, but I'm not even sure about that. I've been to this spa a few times and was impressed by the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the salon. I've been happy with all my services until now. I had my hair highlighted and it looked great when I left the salon. It was styled very nice and the color was exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately once I got home things changed. The color stained my bedding to the point I had to throw it away. I've never had that happen to me in the 30 years I've been highlighting my hair. Once I saw my hair not styled and laying straight it was not cut evenly around my face. I had a great experience while I was there but not happy with the final results. read more

My husband, our three daughters and I were regulars here for several years. Sad now we live in FL and can't go back to have our hair cut. Our stylist Jaimie isn't just great at fixing hair she's all around a lovely person. My girls adored her and I miss her, too. When we were saying goodbye she had small gifts prepared for my girls for our long drive to S Florida. My husband admitted he wasn't 100% please with his most recent cut from another stylist and she just had him sit eighth then and fixed his cut so he'd be ready for his new job. She really head a blessing and I'm not sure if we will ever replace her. As for the shop It's always clean and busy but not too busy if that makes sense. I was surprised they don't accept tips but it takes some of the guesswork out of your visit. Also the girls loved getting their treasure box toy after every visit. It's a lovely grown up salon but kids friendly as well. read more

I've been here before with other stylists and been pleased which is the only reason I'm giving more than 1 star. Last visit I was with a junior designer so she wasn't brand new. There was a chunk of hair on her seat when I sat down, didnt want to be rude but that struck me as gross. I showed a picture of what I wanted and she proceeded to cut it much shorter and TOTALLY uneven! And I had to stop her from cutting off more! So bad that Ive gotten "oh my God" from people several times as a reaction to the cut. Needless to say not going there again. read more

I am so sad to post this. I was visiting from out of state and I wanted to take my mom for a pedicure for an early mother's day gift. I suggested this place because I had such a great experience on the salon side. It was supposed to be a 45 minute appointment. The women who did our pedicures barely said anything to us and we're not friendly, which made it awkward. The services said there was a foot and leg massage. Mine lasted for about 30 seconds. When the mint towel was laid on us we were left to have it soak on our feet, which felt good. They took the towel off my mom and the technician said, "wow there is a lot of hair on your feet. We share these towels with the salon." We thought that was really gross, because it either meant they were not washed or not properly stowed. It grossed me out thinking there could be toenails in them for people at the salon. Just left a icky feeling and I thought it was not info you should be sharing with your customers. After they finished putting my nail polish on (see photo), the technician said immediately, "so I have another person coming after you. You're going to need to go in the other room and wait." I felt hurried and unimportant. The whole experience left my mom and I felt "not pampered." This definitely wasn't worth 40 dollars. We will not be back to this place unfortunately. read more

I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review of Gavin Scott. Listen up ladies: Gavin Scott is the best salon in the Akron/Cleveland area - hands down. There are some very specific things that make GS stand out from all other salons: -No tipping policy -Wine/mimosas at appointments -Hand and arm massage during shampoo -Excellent for groups and parties -Exceptionally polite and professional staff I hate to mention this first, but Gavin Scott Salon has a NO TIPPING policy. It's revolutionary! It's a little weird at first, but the salon professionals seem very happy and the salon is always busy. (These owners are on to something...) It is so nice to go to a salon that has some wine and champagne. At the end of a long day at work, NOTHING is better than a pedicure, wine, and a new magazine. When you get your hair done at GS, you are taken into a dimly lit shampoo room. Your feet are propped up onto on footstool. Once conditioner is applied, the stylist covers your hair in a hot towel and procedes to give you a fabulous hand and arm massage. GS is incredible for groups. The pedicure room is semi-private and hosts 4 people, the manicure room also holds four people. I've been to GS for two different parties and both were amazing. I go to GS for everything - haircuts, hair color, parties, and nails. I have been treated so well by so many people at this salon - Kristie, Sara Kinter, Annastasia, Sara B, Shannon, the list goes on! Sara Kinter is amazing with hair - She really values giving you a color and cut that is easy to wear every day. At the end of our appointments, she always gives some easy styling tips. Shannon is a color wizard - she instinctively knows how to make you look better. Annastasia is a brow genius. 2 minutes and brows are on fleek. Sara B. will give you the perfect mani-pedi. She's no-nonsense when it comes to nail perfection. I live in Cleveland and am happy to make the drive to Stow for the service at Gavin Scott. Just writing about this place makes me wish I was there. I really hate writing a complaint because so much of the staff is amazing. However, I feel it's necessary to bring attention the nastiness I encountered at my last visit. I suffer from OCD, anxiety and Trichitillomania (hair pulling). I have struggled most of my young adult and adult life but a couple years ago, I grew my hair out enough, and stopped hair pulling. I contacted Anastasia who brought my spirits up and let me know I could get hair extensions which would help my hair recover. I was SO beyond happy. I made my appointment and when my hair was in place, I felt like myself again. However, I still dealt with my issue from time to time while wearing the extensions and the hair showed some damage from some of my relapses. At the last visit (and after spending hundreds of dollars to come in for recare visits) I was in to get an estimate to get the hair replaced. Kristie (co owner and I often see at the front desk) came back to the hair station and took my hair pieces back in the back room without saying a word to me. She looked so pissed off. I'm sitting in the chair, vulnerable and nervous, when she came out and stormed over to me and said "what did you do to this hair? You've ruined it." I fought so hard to not cry. I've told numerous people about her and they have had similar negative encounters with her. For someone who co-owns a business, and greets customers, I would suggest she have a better attitude and better "bed side manner." read more

Let me start out by saying I am not one to write a bad review. It is not in my nature to come after any company or person. But my recent experience at this salon has pushed me to do so. My first experience at Gavin Scott was wonderful. Sara was my stylist. I had donated a lengthy amount of hair. She was incredibly personable and really worked hard to make sure the cut was exactly as imagined. She graciously gave me ample tips and tricks on how to keep my hair healthy and showed me how to style it every morning. Without a doubt, went above and beyond; the best salon experience I have ever had. I booked an appointment at the salon again a year later. Due to last minute scheduling on my end, it was with a different stylist. I didnt think this would be an issue. Boy, was I wrong. I wanted a simple trim and some curtain bangs....a 2019 trend/70's throwback syle seen on Camilla Cabella that I had fallen in love with. My stylist this time was Christiana. She was incredibly rude, made absolutely no conversation, and got snarky with me when I asked for shorter layers. The visit was rushed, and even though I was not at all happy with the outcome of the cut, I didnt want to be in her chair any longer...because I felt like she didn't want me there. I felt uncomfortable and almost judged for having a say on how I wanted MY hair cut. There is absolutely no flow from my bangs to the ends of my hair, so they're very choppy and stick out unevenly. It honestly reminds me of those botched bang cuts your mom would give you in the livingroom of your childhood home. I am so embarassed and dissapointed. Please save yourself some time and money, and do not go to Christiana if you get your hair cut from this salon...unless you don't mind crying in your car after your visit. read more

Without a doubt the "IT" salon to go to. If you want a big city experience with a home town feel this place is for you. I was looking forward to visiting this salon based on all the great reviews I saw online. I had a coupon for free cut and style and called to make the appointment 9 days before the expiration of the coupon. I spoke with Carol who told me that both stylists that would honor the coupon were not available for the next 3 weeks! She did not offer a rain check. I got the free cut coupon at a blood donation event for the Red Cross. I assume that the salon uses these events to advertise their business but it is disappointing that they will not honor special offers. read more

Update: Second visit. I went back to Anastastia, this time with a photo of the hairstyle I wanted. She listened very carefully to what I wanted, and my haircut turned out perfectly. She gave me tips on how to style my hair and what to use including how much and how to apply it. I am 100% satisfied with this haircut. I was a bit dismayed to learn that Sarah, who did my pedicure was no longer with the salon. I will definitely be returning to Gavin Scott. Update #2 (7-1-16). I am really sorry to say that I've decided to find another salon. It's not really Gavin Scott Salon's fault. But, because of my unpredictable schedule, I am pretty much unable to book my next appointment after my haircut, usually 4-6 weeks in the future, and then, when rescheduling, have to wait at least 2 weeks for another appointment. I guess I need a good walk-in salon. Also, even though others were, I was never greeted in a very friendly manner when entering the salon for an appointment. I never expected them to throw themselves at my feet when I walked in, but the receptionists always seemed brusque and businesslike. No "How are you today" or much of a welcome. I also was not pleased with my pedicures after Sarah left. I had one that actually left my toes sore. I have no wish to go to one salon for a pedi and another for my hair. However,Anastasia is a super talented stylist and my hair and I will miss her skill. She is very nice. I wish her well and see great success in her future. read more

She did a very in-depth consultation, discussing the color I wanted. I had accidentally been scheduled for color only, no cut, and my stylist fit in the hair cut no problem. I will absolutely be going back. My mother owned her own salon back in the day, so I have gone 24 years without needing to go anywhere but the back yard or kitchen to get my hair cut. I was greeted immediately and asked if I would like a beverage. I didn't want too long at all till my stylist, Sara, came. She was so so nice. She did a wonderful consultation and took her time. She was aware that this was my first time in a salon and explained what was going on every step of the way. ( I was pretty nervous) We had wonderful conversation, and most importantly my hair turned out fabulous. She took time to answer any questions I had about hair and hair products and even taught me the correct way to tease it! I tried to ignore the stylists' personality because the first cut was fine. My third and final visit has left my hair beyond repair. Because Kate seems too arrogant to discuss her intentions my curly hair has been 'thinned' to a degree that a weed wacker might have been used. My hair grows very slow. It was a MUST for me to write another review about this lovely salon after going back again, this time for the works instead of a "sampling" of their spa services. Last week, I had a back-to-back appointment for a deep cleansing facial with Kendall, and a relaxation massage with Colleen. Both of these services were AWESOME. I have had many facials and massages at many different places, especially when I would travel for business. I've been to other local places, and also to fancy-shmansy (and over-rated!!!) spas in Las Vegas, LA, Anaheim, etc ... and I can honestly say that GS beat them out hands down. Here's why ... and I realize these things may sound small, but they're HUGE when you're in desperate need of 2 hours of relaxation and peace! 1) Spa area, restrooms, and services rooms are large, nicely decorated, and CLEAN. 2) The music ... it was the same in every room ... in the entire area. No fumbling around with CDs, or loud interruptions from a sudden (and annoying!) advertisement on streaming radio. I loved it ... very peaceful and I noticed it immediately when I went from my first service to my next one. 3) It was QUIET ... the whole area was, and there wasn't a lot of chit-chat when I got cozied in for my service. I truly felt like I had an entire 2 hours of total relaxation. 4) The rooms can be made very dark ... again, total peacefulness. 5) And last but not least ... the technicians, Kendall and Colleen, were outstanding. Ask for them. Great technique, awesome-smelling products, got down to business, FIRST CLASS all the way. My skin was glowing the rest of the evening! I will definitely be back to treat myself, and this will be my "treat of choice" for spa gift cards for gifts as well. Classy, friendly, top-notch service ... and the best part ...
