UPDATE 6/9/2024: This is my response to their response of my review: Ironically, your company offered me 20K+ in services, so I'd stay in your database. I do have receipts as we tried to negotiate a settlement. You do not focus on the content of my review because of its truthfulness. Things like a Yelp handle, a history of giving a few deserved 1 star reviews, and not providing professional licensure after complaints does NOT negate the fact that your company is not a good one. As an aside, I am happy to provide my professional licensure, if you guarantee to refund me in full instead of the insulting lowball offer that you made. Again, I caution all to beware of the reviews and talk to people in the community about this company; I learned a bit too late. If they had so many successful matches, you would think they would not be using stock photos here. lol. AVOID GAY OPTIONS AT ALL COSTS!!! ORIGINAL: On 5/16/2022, I signed a matchmaking agreement with Options Dating Service. On the front end, the woman with whom I spoke sounded professional and knowledgeable. My first red flag should have been a typical high pressure sales tactic of informing me of special limited time deals on their different package tiers. Another tactic was she mentioned that she already had matches in mind, which never materialized. On this initial call, I expressed that I am not an animal person and prefer masculine of center. I spoke with 3 people. The Service proceeded to match me with two members having 4 bed sharing pets each. All were feminine of center, although they deny this. Even crazier, one of the matches is closeted. During this process, I expressed a desire to be connected with someone more equally yoked than the matches presented ie well heeled. On 1/19/2023, the Assistant Director of Member Services berated me in writing, "you have repeatedly requested to be matched with someone of a higher income bracket, which is highly extraordinary. Most of our members, naturally assume that if someone is willing to invest $7000 or more in a matchmaking service, that they are financially stable. As a managing partner of a law firm..." This is another lie told by one of reps as there are less expensive memberships as seen in other on line complaints. I find it odd and somewhat threatening that this person's legal background was mentioned, when I expressed disappointment and a desire to be refunded. To be clear, this is not concierge service. So forget what you may have seen on TV or what your friends of other cultures may have experienced when employing a matchmaker. There were no face to face meetings with this outfit... ever! There were no calls to check in on how you are feeling about the process. Essentially, I was called a liar, too. One representative wrote that I was "certainly aware" that one of the matches had 4 pets. I actually take copious notes when presented with matches to avoid awkward silences. In my notes, it clearly reads "1 dog", which may have been OK. At no point did this representative consider that the info was not given by the other rep that presented the match. I have zero to gain by being dishonest in my quest for a successful match. Perhaps, they should record calls. Another huge red flag, Gay Options Dating Service lied when I filed a consumer complaint, denying knowing who I am! I keep receipts and take copious notes, so I produced a service agreement allowing the consumer complaint to proceed. The biggest red flag was when I was asked to remove this review in June of 2023 in "good faith", which I did despite them telling a well known consumer agency that I was not a client. However, more questionable practices emerged. For three weeks, they dragged out deliberating a refund and ultimately offering me 1803.00 out of a total of 6,995.00. Here is the real kicker. On June 20, 2023, their Director offered to "restart (your )membership for five introductions with preapproval which is only available with the $24,995.00 Platinum Membership. In fact, we are currently vetting an introduction for you." No one offers nearly 25K in goods or services instead of paying 7K to settle a matter, unless they know their product is not worth the higher dollar amount assigned. They need to stop playing in people's faces. Also, be very wary of those reviews. If you can not contact any of these happy customers directly through social media or know them personally, I suggest proceeding with extreme caution. To whomever actually cares about the satisfaction of their clients, I still would like my all of my money back because no one should be threatened, stalled, and branded a liar in a quest for love and partnership. Joined after being told they thoroughly vetted all members and had physical locations and large user base in every major city in the USA. If I would have realized all of this was lies in time I would have disputed the charge with my credit card company. Way too expensive for what they offer. Methodical, thorough and caring. I first learned of matching-making by being vetted for a client of another service - from Tinder! Once I got the idea of matchmaking, I thought it might be an avenue to try. I'd tried about everything else: NYC is a tough place. I researched every service in the US, particularly how they obtain the candidates for their clients. I came upon Options and dug deeper and was quite surprised: Options is oldest and most established matching-making service in the US. Also, and this was the clincher for me: no computers, no "algorithms", no random person-grabbing off sites. Options matches clients in the time-honored way which has worked for thousands of years: personal vetting, reviewing and matching from Their Own Database. To get into that database, one must apply as a client and have a background done befitting security clearance. Sounds intimidating? At the end you are sent on a date with someone you can be sure is safe, allowing concentration on the date. Options has an onboard psychologist who is the second tier to review a potential match. The match then goes to Options' own board of directors who have final approval. Are there instantaneous matches? Yes and other times no - the vagaries of people's reactions can't all be accounted for. Options job is mitigate that negative probability to a bare minimum allowing maximum chances of success Options studies each match one has and if not successful, will re-tailor the next matches to hone in on the right personality mix. They will call and ask for direct feedback, as opposed to just throwing another match at you. They have very strict guidelines for how to conduct the initial contact: it is based on the staff's years of experience of what is effective and also eliminates chaos in the process. Ok, ok--lay off these guys an gals (all of whom are fabulous, match makers). This is not GrindR, TindR or anthing else that ends with 'R'. This is not match.com. This is a high-profile high-expense match-making dating service and if you ever have watched Patti Stanger (if you did, you would understand this service better), you need to be prepared to travel. While it is true that they hardly have anyone in their database (I could help with that guys--I build clientelle for a living: call me!), the few that they do have are high-quality matches and you need to be prepared to travel to meet them or arrange for them to travel to meet you. Love knows no distance. And if grabbing a flight from San Francisco to Seattle or DC to NYC seems too much trouble or expense for you, you're either wanting something very local or not financially up to the task of travelling to find true love and this type of premium service isn't for you. There are plenty of service that are. For those that want to hire (and pay for) a sklled, personal matchmaker (insert every Yiddish word here) I will just say this: While I am back being single, I want to tell you that some of my best and most amazing dating encounters in my life have been from these people. I met influencial people who changed the way I think; I got flown places and/or flew other people places. I was pushed outside my confort zone. I felt supported by a true Yenta. Fine print/details you should know: Get the minimum membership--it's like $50 bucks a month. They only have like 10 ppl or less in your region unless you're in DC Metro, so paying more does not up your chances of an introduction. Keep your mind open. Also keep your other options open--these guys will only call you once a month--or two--, maybe. Don't think this is your be-all, end-all answer to dating. Stay on match.com or TindR or Grindr (duh! You need someone(s) to hang with before you find that husband or wife or your dreams! (P.S. Where is the GrindR for girls??). This is just one of many tools you should be using to find love. And if you don't find love, find books. Or couseling. Or volunteer work. Wow. My dating odyssey has finally ended and with the help of Options Matchmaking Service, a new chapter of my life has begun. I had tried it all from internet dating to friend recommended blind dates. I was so discouraged by the caliber of men that I was running into that I literally shut down and decided to take a hiatus for several years. Having just come out fairly recently (3 years ago), I was extremely hesitant to go online and bars don't appeal to me whatsoever, so when I discovered Gay Options during a Google search I thought "why not?" I was initially struck by their professionalism, and then as the process progressed I realized that although the matches seemed to take forever (once I even had to wait over 4 months to get matched!), the quality and accuracy of the matches were surprisingly good. I found Options through the LGBT newspaper over 6 years ago. After calling them, I was struck with their personal attention to everything I wanted in a woman. As an African American lesbian, I was apprehensive when they told me that they had a multicultural outreach to choose from at Options. I am so glad that I trusted them and signed up!!! I assumed that the cost of the service and the sales talk before I signed up would guarantee a wide selection of matches suited to my tastes--not true! From the very first match, I was asked to accept outside my criteria. In fact, the first match spent our entire 'date' telling about his matches and how awful they were. At one point, I was asked if I would be willing to accept matches from across the country. When I complained, I was told that I had paid my money and I had to accept what they offered. My last 'match' never even materialized and nothing was said about why it was never completed. This so called dating service promised me 5 matches within 4 months. I told them what type of person I was looking for. They came up with this person who was the complete opposite of what I had asked for. When I contact him, he was surprised to hear they matched him with me since he said he wasn't active with them for 3 yrs. I called options to tell them this and they didn't give me an appropriate answer. I asked for other matches. They said they couldn't find anyone for me, as they said they consider clients who pay much more money first. They gave me another match for me to accept, but I didn't because he was nothing again that I asked for. It seems they are only interested in helping people who pay a very large sum of money and don't seem to have a lot of people to choose from. After 3 months I felt I should have hade some kind of match that I was looking for as promised when I signed up. I wouldn't recommend this service to anyone. read more
