He also made sure that we saw the work in progress to give him feedback on how things were going, especially when he felt concerned that things wouldn't be up-to-par for us. We paid a reasonable price for the project, and Gilder was very flexible to accommodate our tight timeline, completing the project quicker than we anticipated. I enjoyed working with Gilder and his team. We initially met for a quote to paint my entire one bedroom condo that included ceiling, walls, trim and doors. The walls and a window required some dry wall repair too. Gilder was confident that his team would be able to complete the entire job for a reasonable rate. When I reviewed my paint color choices with him, he brightened up and advised using a white semi-gloss paint for the trim as it is durable and will allow the painted walls to pop. He also agreed that it's be cool to paint my bedroom ceiling the same color as the walls for a more moody, rich look. The team was on time and Gilder was in communication with me throughout. which my washer and dryer sits. The subfloor beneath a small area of tile was rotten and needed to be replaced, and the tiles were broken and the grout gone. He was communicative and professional, and worked very clean, laying down paper to protect the wood floors between that closet and my back deck, where he and his partner used their tile saw. I also thought the work was done for a fair price, compared to other quotes I got, and we were able to schedule within a reasonable amount of time. For context, I have had a lot of experience with folks who do repairs in my home and in our building, and Gilder is definitely on the better end of that spectrum. Owner said that he worked with his brother who had 20 years experience. Instead I got two teenagers who came twenty minutes late and left 8 paint drops throughout carpeted apartment. There were also two ladder dings and the master bedroom's closet had a shelf bracket torn off the wall under where the wall ding was at. I do not recommend this business. Apparently the same teenagers that painted my rental apartment are the same ones who painted the apartment whose picture is on this business' own website, gbpainters.org. However that project ran late and he sent his crew early next morning. This review was long overdue (from a mid-May 2021 painting service) but I wanted to make sure I left a review as Gilder and the GB Painters team were exactly the type of company I was looking for. Honest, Efficient, Hard Working, On time and just good people. I had searched on Yelp for a painting service for our 3BR condo in Chicago and were in desperate need for an efficient service as we were preparing to sell our place in Chicago to move overseas (hence the delay in my review as I am writing this from Japan now). GB Painters were one of many companies to respond back and I had an initial consultation in person to determine the estimates. From a COVID safety protocol perspective Gilder was very respectful and after chatting with him, I knew right away the type of person that he was in how he conducted his business which is based on having a quality product finish speak for itself. I accepted the quote and they literally started the next day (they were wrapping up another project). I mentioned my tight timeline as we were going to have showings and pictures of our place to sell that weekend. They were on point in what they had to do. GB Painters were there first thing the next morning and throughout the day till the evenings. They helped me paint practically the entire place, fixed wood cracks from the building settling, patched wall cracks and made everything look move-in ready. They helped me find the right paint and even helped me through some paint issues as well that were already painted with the wrong color (they repainted things to make sure that I was satisfied). I had just moved out of my condo on Saturday and needed to find a painter right away to get the place ready for potential renters. With the help of Yelp I was able to line up to meet three paint contractors. Gilder was the first of the three. He looked around and was able to provide me with an estimate which included buying the paint for me at Sherwin Williams; something that I was more than happy to pass along to him. Even after meeting the other two contractors I chose to go with Gilder because not only did he provide me with the lowest quote but he was also able to start the job on Monday. Sweet! Monday morning I walk into the apartment close to 10am and the holes on the walls were covered, the edges were patched, outlet covers were removed - the place was ready to be painted. He had a couple of other helpers there, who didn't really speak or understand English so there was a slight misunderstanding about a hole in the wall so make sure to go through Gilder about everything! The place was completely done by Monday evening and I must say that I'm pretty happy about the job that was done. I had 3 walls with a dark burgundy color, a bedroom wall & a master bath with a teal color - all covered beautifully.
