I was a little hesitant to call local and being that it was on a early Saturday morning I didn't want to pay the OT for the service. Being that it was so cold out, I didn't want my family to not have heat for the weekend. I called All American Plumbing at 6:30am and within a half out had a call back from the owner. (I'm in the industry, trust me, owners don't usually make the call.) Lamont said he could have somebody here by 9am and by 8:50am Leo was at our door. Lamont said there was no OT fee, just the regular service fee. That was impressive! I regaled Leo with my construction experience which was probably more of a distraction for him than a service. But he listened, interacted and was able to get the part needed installed and the furnace up and running in no time. He probably could have got it done faster but again, I don't get to talk construction with many people at home so, my apologies. Yuri was very helpful over the phone and had Sam at our house within an hour. Sam snaked the cleanout, then ran a camera and found the blockage right at the property line. He clearly explained everything, answered all my questions, and helped me navigate the city process. While preparing to dig a new cleanout, Sam and Charlie discovered an existing one that had been buried by the builders and were able to clear the blockage from there. The issue turned out to be roots in the line, and Sam coordinated with the city so they could apply a long-term fix. Fast response, great communication, and excellent problem-solving. The costs billed to us were marked up over 100%. I understand outsourcing to subcontractors and up charging within reason. But over 100% up charge is wild. Would definitely recommend doing your due diligence before retaining this company as your contractor. We were told that they would match whatever our insurance would have paid and then were charged double. Disappointing to say the least. When I questioned it, he said he had to charge what he did because my faucet was "high end." That did not make sense to me because the faucet was an under 200 dollar Home Depot faucet installed by a family member. The explanation felt off, and combined with everything else it did not inspire confidence. With the inability to complete one of the tasks, the shifting price, and the overall vibe of the interaction, I decided not to move forward. When I declined service, he muttered multiple comments under his breath to his partner while I was standing a few feet away, including unbelievable and similar remarks.
