It was happenstance that I stopped here as I waited for the line at the nearby pharmacy to die down. During GCG's normal hours of business, I'm usually in another part of town. I've been missing out. The shop is in a nicely maintained brick building, more like an office building, but the shop's entrance is colorfully and brightly decorated with seasonal flowers and plants. It's a nice introduction. There are very few pre-made flower arrangements in the cooler or anywhere inside. I wasn't quite sure what to make of that, but my hesitation lasted about a nano-second or two. Because I wanted to buy some flowers for the upcoming holiday, I asked the owner if she could make an arrangement for me on the spot. After she asked a few questions about where I was going to place it, my price point, the colors and types of flowers, she quickly started to pull things together right then, all the while maintaining our conversation. In no time at all she had it ready to go. The arrangement is beautiful and exactly what I was looking for. It was so much nicer than a pre-made one. Flower arranging is an art in itself, I think. Understanding the placement of each flower and accent, stem length, and flow of colors is a creative process that some florists do well and others, not so much. Ordering flowers from across the country (Southern CA to North Carolina) is always a gamble. One depends on reviews and I am definitely one who uses Yelp for that. I try to find a business within the same zip code to where I want to send flowers. I've been disappointed in the past. However, Becky from GCG was wonderful to work with. She and her husband Scott own this florist shop and delivered a beautiful arrangement of peonies and hydrangeas to my friend (who loves peonies as much as I do). She loved them and sent me a photo. I'll try to post that photo. In a couple of days, the peonies will open, they look gorgeous already but will be even more beautiful when that happens. I just want to share what a wonderful experience I had with placing an order here. It was my sisters birthday and since I'm not able to see her on her special day due to the virus lockdown I decided to have a floral arrangement delivered. I looked at many florists and the many wonderful reviews of this place really stuck out and I love that it's a family owned business since they tend to be more personal with you and that is exactly the kind of wonderful service I received with Becky. At first I didn't realize that my sisters home was out of her delivery zone but she called and offered to continue my order anyway since she does service one client nearby which was super thoughtful. The day of she sent me a quick text with a video of the arrangement to make sure it was perfect since it had to be slightly changed because of a shortage of flowers that she's able to have imported at a time like this. My sister absolutely loved the arrangement and texted me a picture of the final product and it was so beautiful! I stopped by GCG to ask about a boutonniere for my husband for our wedding. I was treated to the nicest consultation! Since I wasn't sure yet what my bouquet was going to look like, the owner suggested I let her know as soon as I did and she'd help me pick something to match. I called her when my original plans changed and had the same nice experience again. My husband and I ended up going to GCG together the night before our wedding and had a hard time deciding what we wanted. She could not have been sweeter! She was surrounded by bouquets for another wedding,so she was clearly busy, but we never would have known it from the amount of attention and help she offered. We ended up with a beautiful boutonniere at a price that made me so happy I nearly cried! Weddings are so expensive and so stressful, and GCG made this part such a bright spot for us!
