Shop reeks!!!! My husband could not stand it, so he waited outside. They had my sour belt candies, so I quickly got what I needed and left.

From display case after display case filled with various chocolates and candies, to bins overflowing with colorful saltwater taffy, and machines busy making fresh popcorn and warm roasted nuts there's no shortage of sweet treats. I've been visiting since I was a little girl, and coming back reminded me exactly why it's such a staple on the Strand. This place has been part of Galveston for generations, and it still delivers that same magic. It's always busy, always full of energy, and there's truly something here for everyone. The candy shop alone is worth the stop--rows of old-fashioned sweets, fresh confections, and that nostalgic atmosphere you just don't find anymore. The divinity is divine, and the ice cream is just as good as I remembered. I had the lemon custard (so good!), my brother got a scoop of chocolate on a cone, and my friend ordered cinnamon. My mom insisted she didn't want anything...until she tried my friend's cinnamon. She loved it so much she immediately went and got her own, which says everything. And for $5 a scoop, two could easily share. This is one of those must-stop places when you're on the Island. Whether you're there for the ice cream, the candy, or just the experience, it never disappoints. A+.

We traveled to Galveston to visit the store and restaurant firsthand. For years, we followed Ronnie Maceo's story and were saddened by his passing. Thankfully, his daughter, Concetta, has continued the family legacy. We were fortunate to meet her during our visit. She was incredibly gracious, and spending time with her made the experience even more memorable. The food was absolutely delicious, and we couldn't leave without stocking up on spices and sauces. It's amazing how much history, culture, and tradition are packed into this one place. The gumbo roux is the perfect rich, dark color, and the flavor is everything you hope for--authentic, hearty, and reminiscent of New Orleans. Concetta also shared the weekly specials, giving us even more reasons to return. Needless to say, every future trip to Galveston will include a stop at Maceo's. I highly recommend adding Maceo's to your bucket list. See you there!

The red beans were prepared Louisiana style (yum). The Muffuletta was also delicious, the bread was soft and toasty and the overall flavor of the sandwhich was great- the cheese was melted to perfection. My only dislike about the Muffuletta was the meat and cheese portion is small- it's very bread heavy. There are tables to sit it (very hole in the wall style) and the market has some great items to look/shop! The turn around time for my order was quick and I was in and out. I would not miss the chance to come here while you're visiting Galveston. I can't wait to try other items on the menu!

I finally made the trip from Katy to visit during the full moon before closing. I absolutely loved the vibe and concept of the store. The mysterious energy was so intriguing and welcoming. Even though I was short on time, the team member did a beautiful job helping me and sharing recommendations for beginner witches. I knew I wanted to start a crystal collection, choose a pendulum, and pick up a few spiritual items. Normally, I like to research books before committing, but I purchased a couple on impulse. my only disappointment was learning afterward that BOOKS are FINAL SALE. I had been under the impression that unopened, non-creased books could be exchanged (not returned) within 10 days. There is a sign displayed, but the wording could be clearer. Had I understood that all books were FINAL SALE, I definitely would have compared prices before purchasing, made a different selection, and purchased only one book. I admire how they place bookmarks inside the books of purchase. The bookmarks double as their business cards, such a smart way to consolidate promotion & usefulness. I adore that unique feature. That said, the friendly service was amazing energy made for a wonderful experience. Witchery has definitely earned a spot on my must-visit list whenever I'm on the island.

We got to witness the workers in the back bring in fresh Red Snappers directly from the boat into the store. It feels good knowing we are buying and supporting local. I requested that they filet the Red Snappers, while the other four were left to be just cleaned (scaled, cut, and rinsed). It was well packaged. They even put ice in the bag for my long trip back. Excellent, excellent, excellent service. Next time a long with fresh fish, I will get blue crab and shrimp. Note: They are right around the corner from Katie's Seafood House.
