I called GDI GARAGE DOORS on Saturday 7/19 2025 and scheduled an appointment for Sunday 7/20/2025 between 12n and 4pm. I was grateful to get an appointment so quickly. Due to health issues and no remote for my door, I was anxious to get the replacement and find out what I might need to have it working properly. I received a call requesting a change due to the technician unable to meet the commitment. I agreed and had to plan on getting my car out one more time for an appointment. Tuesday appointment was scheduled for 12-4 pm. Twice I was called asking for , first time, more time and second telling me they needed to reschedule. . So my appointment on Wednesday required me dealing with the door, and my very sloping driveway. I called another company, not via a YELP recommendation and got an appointment right away! The new company, LA ROCK GARAGE DOOR COMPANY was something I hadn't experienced often since moving to my new home 5 months ago, they kept their appointment! They are the example for all the service companies that think it's okay to cancel repeatedly with no concern for their potential customers. GDI called Wednesday to see if I was happy with their service! I said they would find out on my YELP review! The caller was polite and asked what happened, offered an apology and future discount. I told her I wasn't going to be doing business with them ever. Obviously there is no communication within the company or they would not have had someone call to see how happy I was! GDI took over the company we used to use which was more cost efficient, so needless to say we were in a pinch and blindsided. They ran late and pushed us into the next day. It is too bad that Pioneer Door sold out. They were a good company to deal with. I will NEVER do business with GDI again. They will not give you a price for just the service call to come out and look at the issue. I received a call from the main office informing me that the service tech was at a house just a block away and would arrive within minutes of my scheduled service call. When the tech arrived, he told me the service call was $299 plus material to fix the door. The cable on the cable drums came loose and needed to be placed back on the drums. He told me total price would be $507. What DO YOU DO ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND YOUR DOOR IS STUCK HALFWAY OPEN? It took him 10 minutes to fix the door and then he went into his salesmen routine telling me how my three-year-old door needed to springs, rollers, and maintenance but would not give me a price until after he replaced all the parts. The company I have always used, Pioneer Door was purchased by GDI Garage Doors. I recently contacted them and quickly realized it was no longer them. GDI told me that they would have the same trucks and people which was not true. I never received the text message confirming the appointment or the 30 minute text message ahead of the technician showing up as stated. They told me it would be the same trucks and service etc., however they arrived in a GDI pick up truck. I went ahead with the estimate, the technician was very knowledgeable; however, the price was double or more what other company's are charging. I asked the technician if they are able to set their price and receive commission on the price above cost and he said no, but obviously that wasn't true. Advice to all, be thorough, get a few quotes, verify the product if you purchase one, confirm warranties, look at the box and confirm you are getting a new product and the product you purchase, ask to see their license, trust your gut and don't get scammed or ripped off. read more

Instructions then told me to open the back of the opener and hit the learn button, well I pushed the wrong button and the opener would not work. I was thoroughly impressed with GDI's quality of work, but what really stood out to me was the honesty. I was visiting my parents and thought to upgrade their garage door opener to something smarter and quieter so I bought a brand new opener from Home Depot for about $300. GDI's rep (I'm so sad to have forgotten his name but I'll find it and update this later) recommended that I should stick with the older unit that was installed and return the new one, as the quality of the older one was significantly better and lasts longer. He could quite easily have replaced the unit and gotten paid for it, but I was glad to hear this honesty. He then recommended some alternative solutions like replacing the rollers to reduce noise, and buying a $30 MyQ hub add-on to make it wifi accessible and smart. We went through with these solutions, I saved over $300 and I couldn't be happier. Thanks GDI. read more

After two week my motor stopped working, i called them, they came and said that motor needs to be replaced, for that they are charging $899. i got quotes from other providers, i asked them to price match. they said that they cannot. No where on their Yelp page and our text conversation did they say that I was going to be charged $40 for a quote. They actually said that they'd give a "free estimate." They bullied my partner to pay for a quote that we could have gotten for free elsewhere. In fact, I recieved 2 other quotes from 2 other companies that I was not charged for! This is rediculous!
