We worked with Carla and she was extremely helpful and had great knowledge and passion for what she does. We got our cherry tree from here in the spring. They have a huge collection of trees with all different price points depending on size. The delivery and install fee was ridiculous so we asked our landscaper to pick it up and plant it. We love the tree and can't wait to watch it grow! read more

Overpriced and always rude!! I always shop local family business when available however- this "Mom and Pop" (owners) are the worst. The salespeople outside are very nice and helpful. But when you go inside the building to purchase the merchandise --you are treated to rude and obnoxious behavior. Its really incredible- how they treat you....its like you are bothering them when you want to pay! Now- I don't even bother stopping there- I go directly to Home Depot or will head over to Ridgeway Nursery (3/4 mile away). At Ridgeway Nursery they are so much more friendly. I was recommended to shop here from a few friends. They are realtors in Rockland they decorate there yards with all of Gedney farms plants and trees. when i arrived i was so confuse and didn't know anything but was instantly ask if i needed help by a blond hair lady I had many questions she was helping me but kept getting called by other customers her knowledge was on point but as my first time she taught me a lot even gave me a quick lessons on what will survive. read more

I came here after hearing about it from one of the gardeners who work on my street. I needed stones to finish a home project. The problem was that the stones I needed are not manufactured anymore so I visited Gedney Farms as a last resort hoping they had at least something similar. When I drove in I was surprised my all the plants and trees that were available for sale. I was also surprised at how large the nursery is because it's deceiving from the outside. They had all types of stones and rocks for gardening. They even had what I looking for. Everything was fairly priced and the staff was extremely helpful. The young man who assisted me with the stones used a forklift to find more of what I needed and even carried the stones into my truck without me even asking him for help. Came here looking for a few boxwoods but became quickly turned off to the customer service and not to mention the high prices! I had already been to two other Nurserys and Gedneys was almost double the price. A blond woman with a clipboard- curtly approached us when we asked for help. Basically told us the American Boxwoods were "mixed in" and to look for ourselves. No direction. We tried joking around a bit because her demeanor was so rude. She quickly dismissed us and told us to "MOVE our white truck!!!!" Wouldn't recommend going here. So many other options in Westchester! read more

Good selection and large quantities, prices are higher than other nurseries. My first visit was this week and I roamed the entire place for the better part of an hour with only ONE employee asking me if I needed anything. At the counter I overheard a woman asking the employee if she could look up her recent invoice. As I listened, I realized that the two knew each other and the woman was a long-time customer, but the employee said in a very loud and brusque voice, "I can't do that! I have a thousand invoices and it would take too long!" No trying to figure out a work-around, no trying to understand the problem, no nothing like that. The customer pleaded, "Please don't make me go home and find it." The customer persisted and it did finally get settled - Gedneys had shorted her on a large plant order - but it was disheartening to see a customer treated that way. I won't be back. read more

Lazy and rude. Save yourself some time, and go elsewhere to purchase your plants. I found what I needed outside, then went inside to ask for some help. While waiting to request help, I listened to the owner complain about her employees to a landscaper customer. She used a walkie talkie to get someone to help this customer. When it was my turn, I asked if I could get some help with some bushes. She told me no one could help me, but maybe in 30 minutes I could get helped. At this time, I was the only customer in that store. I was shocked at this woman's lazy work ethic. read more

Had a great experience buying a Christmas tree here! The guy who helped us pick out our tree was very helpful and showed us a couple of options before we found one that we loved. They helped tie it to our roof racks and we were on our way in less than 20 mins. Highly recommend! read more

They sold us prepackaged bags of regular mulch as "playground mulch chips" and when we went back to return the 6 bags they gave us a hard time about the one bag we had opened (to learn that it was the wrong item), even though the open bag still was completely full. We did get our money back, but with an extremely condescending and sarcastic attitude from the employee. She treated us like idiots for getting the wrong thing even after we explained that we called to make sure they had what we needed, and confirmed that we were purchasing the right item when we made the purchase in person. I would take indifference from a spacey Home Depot associate over these guys. At least at Home Depot there's a written policy and agreement that customer satisfaction is important. read more

Unbelievably rude and unfriendly women ( possibly Manager ) who works there, watching how she spoke to customers had me shocked, I just left after witnessing that. Will not be returning, to many other nurseries close by to deal with that. After reading other posts appears I'm not the only one who had these issues. read more

I went to this nursery for the first time and had a good experience. I bought some soil in a bag and needed a handful of gravel. The man at the counter said no problem he would get me some. He came back with a plastic bag with plenty of gravel and didn't charge me. read more

Wow, I have tried and tried to shop here. Its very convenient to my home and the sales people outside are always nice. But the woman in the office (owner???), is just so incredibly rude that I am NEVER going back. Recently, I went in search of a particular plant. Asked outside but they told me I had to ask inside. Went inside and she was talking to a couple of her workers. I waited patiently while she never made eye contact, walked past me 3x (I mean within a foot of me), never once said "I'll be right with you" and left me standing there for 15 min (it was very clear I was looking for help). Finally, I decided to just ask about the plant since she was clearly just doing busy work! She was beyond rude. Why would anyone spend a dime here???? Try other local nurseries, there are also several very good ones in Greenwich (just 15-20 min further north). read more

I went there today (Dec. 18) for our holiday greens - holly, juniper, long-needled pine, and a wreath - and even though it's close to Christmas, they had an excellent selection of everything I needed, and were friendly and helpful as well. It's funny how the teenagers are the role models here. The teenagers are very nice and help a lot. The grown ups aren't very nice. They yell at their customers and don't treat them with respect. Time to learn from the teenagers! Their Christmas tree selection is good but not great. However, we got a very pretty tree. They have some highway robbery problems. An 8-9 foot tree was $125! It was worth it, though, because the tree is beautiful. Debating weather to come back. read more
