My husband being a non-Yelper, suggested we take a look at some florist shop options near the hospital where my auntie-in-law was staying several months back. I've purchased flowers for my home from Trader Joe's or Apple Farm, but since we were visiting her, he wanted a more tasteful arrangement. With the help of the salesperson, she helped my husband select a few flowers while I waited for him in a no parking zone- not far from White Plains Hospital. Out he comes with a delicately prepared, piece of artwork in a small glass vase with white hydrangeas, mini button roses, Day Lilies and berries for $30. Realized if we want to present someone with an arrangement, this is it! The creative touch placed on making that arrangement, was greatly appreciated: Carriage placed the vase in a small box, then used a flower design tissue paper- to fill in the gaps and hold the arrangement snug in place to prevent it from wobbling over. Great eye and Thank you! And then noticed, this florist shop, had my name written all over it and would return. On my recent visit though, stopped by real quick to pick out an arrangement for my Mom and liked what I saw. Love, love, love their style. You won't find Carnations in a bunch of neon colors here- what you do get are Peonies, Hydrangeas, Freesias- plus many others. Plus Gina was so helpful, went to the back, picked out a few flowers and boom...out she comes with a gorgeous arrangement. The idea here is country flair with soft tones. Price? You get your money's worth. Carriage sets themselves apart and it's up my alley! I called Carriage House asking the impossible task of same day flower delivery for my daughter-in-law who lost both grandmothers within a week. It was impossible because I called from California (Carriage House is in NY) so it was closing time or past closing, the delivery location is a notorious traffic jamb area, and the apartment is a locked "buzzer in" lobby. My DIL would not be home for the next few days, so it was really down to "same day" or "no day". John was just amazing. Such a trooper! He went from "hmmmmm, not so sure I can do it" to "give me the info let's do this!" within seconds of me explaining the entire situation. And the flowers were stunning!! I have nothing negative to say about this place! As soon as you walk in, you are surrounded by beautiful plants, flowers, and figurines. You feel like you are in a magical/peaceful forest. The owner, John (I believe that is his name, please forgive me), was super professional, personable, kind, and extremely knowledgeable. I needed centerpieces for my baby shower which was only 7 days away from when I met John. The previous florist did not work out and I was in a bind. After calling some places, John said he could do it and we met the next day. He stayed within my budget, he gave me EXACTLY what I wanted & the centerpieces looked identical to the picture I showed him. On top of that, he personally delivered the flowers to the venue. Furthermore, my centerpieces were given to some of my guests and I took one home, these centerpieces lasted for 2 weeks!!!!! The flowers were beautiful and fresh. See photos below! The owner is a very nice guy with great sense of humor. Because of this, I was hoping for great result....but unfortunately I don't think this was the best bouquet of flowers I have sent for $125. Some flowers arrived broken including the very center piece flower (the yellow Lilly). I verified this by comparing the picture the shop owner sent (a bit hidden but you can see it in the first photo) and the picture I receive from the recipient (the second picture). Placing a cross state flower order is always risky that's why I made a phone call instead of placing the order online. I might be picky but after thinking about this a bit, wanted to share MY experience. It really pains me to not give this place full stars. The people here are very friendly, they reminded me over the phone to put a quarter in the meter if I street parked, and when I forgot coming in... they reminded me again! Haha, one of them even offered to go outside and put the quarter in for me, I was very flattered. I also think the price was VERY fair. I came in for a last-minute bouquet for my boyfriend's school ceremony. They were able to prep everything within 5 mins and the arrangement was gorgeous, something I myself would have really liked. But I didn't really have the option to decide on what color or kind of flowers I wanted. And that's because they didn't have a lot of options of flowers available. In fact, they also ONLY had purple colored tissue paper. I wanted something more neutral or warmer, especially since the school color is red. Purple really stands out weird on an occasion like this, and it's not my bfs favorite color either (it would be mind though haha), but when I asked if they had other options available they said that was all they had. So already I was kind of regretting it. The lady asked me how much I was looking to pay, I was kind of confused because I originally told her my budget was between $30-$40. When I told her around $30 to $40 again, she priced me at $40. I wonder if I said $30, would I have paid less?? For this kind of bouquet, compared to what I'm used to, this is actually a very good deal. But I am on a budget and it isn't the colors I was really looking for so I'm a tiny bit disappointed :( Edit: I added one more star because after getting home from the ceremony and putting the flowers in water, I realized that they actually undercharged me by quite a lot. For this arrangement it def would have costed me more than $60. And truthfully honestly, the flowers are beautiful, the arrangement is dead drop gorgeous (esp those hydrangea!!). My bf ended up appreciating the flowers a lot and even though the color was off, we still took amazing pictures and people at the ceremony complimented them constantly. I personally still would preferred it to be wrapped with a diff tissue color paper, e.g. neutral brown to give it an even more sleeker look. It has a really nice cool tone theme to it, and for a guy that might feel better than purple/lavender. I will def return here again for future arrangements, or atleast encourage others (like my bf haha) to come here and get me flowers :) but I'd def try to be more vocal about what I'd really want and call in advance to see if they have more options. Since I did this the morning of and very last minute, it is my fault I did not plan ahead. read more
