Ive been with GEICO for almost 2 years and ive never needed to call their customer service, the FIRST and ONLY time i had to I was horrible. The agent who was supposed to be helping me had a horrendous snarky attitude. I was willing to restart my policy over a simple mistake but the fact I was asking questions and he simple was like "F your questions, do you wanna restart your policy" I hung up in his face and just did it in my app. No way I would let him get anything from me. I hope geico works on their customer service because if I couldn't do it in the app, I would NOT have been restarting my policy with them. Went from being a fan to absolutely despising them. They played a false pretense game and trickery during an Insurance Quote questionnaire claiming it's for Verification purposes. The agent asked me 5 questions beginning with "Did you have an ACCIDENT?" On a few dates given and I said "No", but later found out that's a trick word for Roadside Service Calls for help. Than immediately after I said "No accidents on those dates" she than said "We at Geico cannot give you coverage at this time we need more verification"??. I have had Geico car insurance for over 50 years. I was recently involved in a collision (prior clean driving history) where the other driver was deemed 100% at fault. Geico did absolutely nothing to help. On the contrary they tried to total my 8-month-old Volvo rather than have it repaired even though the cost of the repairs was well under the car's value. Their customer service people were rude and dismissive. They eventually stopped taking phone calls. We had to call the state insurance board for assistance. My sister and my daughter who also have had Geico for 50 and 20 years respectively were involved in collisions that were not their fault and had similar experiences. We have all dropped Geico. If you currently have Geico insurance I urge you to take the time to reevaluate other companies as I wish I had. If you are at all considering Geico as a provider, don't. We ended up with better coverage elsewhere (check out USAA, Erie, NJM, Amica, all recommended by Consumer Reports) and even saved money. read more

I was in a car accident on 10/23/25 with a GEICO insured. From day one, this claims process has been awful! When I called to file a claim, they told me liability was denied based on what their driver told them and an adjuster had not been assigned. I sent in the dash cam footage to show what happened. I called back a couple of days later and a rep told me liability was still denied and an adjuster still had not been assigned due to the denial. When I mentioned the video, the rep looked at it and changed the liability. For GEICO to not conduct an actual investigation is wrong! From the beginning, I felt my adjuster Tyler didn't know what he was doing. Here it is almost 2 months later and my adjuster still has no idea what he is doing. I do not have a FL policy and I have explained to him that my policy does not work like FL policies do, nor does it have to. My adjuster could not understand why my policy did not work like a FL policy. I asked to speak with a supervisor. After a couple of days, my adjuster told me that his manager would call me once they spoke with another supervisor. I never heard back from the supervisor. This is ridiculous! I've been with them for over 30 years, no accidents or tickets, but when a couple of storms ruined my cars, they gave me all kinds of excuses not to pay me, even though I had full coverage. Their trick for getting you is the teaser low prices they offer, but you would need to take them to court if you want them to pay you when something goes wrong. They were good about processing the claim quickly with my flooded car. But they hired a tow company that came out at 1:30 in the morning a.m. without notifying me and crashed into my garage causing damages. Co-part is ignoring me, ( company hired in Tampa) and GEICO is passing me around for weeks. They hired the company, not me! I'm stuck with this expense and damages. I consider that a hit-and-run. Worst insurance company ever. When I signed up for GEICO they offered me the drive easy discount and said as long as I'm not using my phone while driving I will be good. Well that was a lie, now my policy has renewed and it is over 100 dollars more. I called in to ask why, and they said it shows my phone is being used while driving. So since my daughter uses my phone in the back seat while I'm driving and my phone sits in my cup holder and not mounted down it seems like I'm on my phone. No one ever explained this to me and when I expressed my concern all they had to say was I'm sorry but there is nothing we can do.... SO they contract their rentals from Enterprise and I was put in an unsafe vehicle. When Ic ontacted them when enterprise wouldnt resolve the issue. Geico's agent told me to get an air compressor and fix the tire issue myself. I asked to speak to supervisor and they gave me the same solution Enterprise gave that was switch out the cars. Have been a customer for 5 years. No claims filed. Over that time my premiums have almost DOUBLED even though I have filed no claims and my profile/car hasn't changed at all. This is just a consumer alert. My daughter recently scraped a car by accident in a parking lot and Geico insurance jumped our bill $80 for the next six months because of that. We've been a customer of Geico's over 20 years. I found another insurance company for the same coverage for almost $120 cheaper a month but Geico won't close the claim and the new insurance agency said that they can't cover us until that claim shows closed when I called Geico told me it'll close by itself in three months! They said they won't close it but the job on the person's car is done. It was a paint job .They won't do it! So beware if you're looking for car insurance stay away from Geico. I started with Geico and I agreed to their Easy Drive Car App (that proves you are a good driver by recording how you drive). First thing, they never tell you that your phone has to be ANCHORED (mine was in my pocket for my first recorded drive). The phone slid around in my pocket and the Geico App said I was braking hard and cornering too sharply. I have driven for over 50 years with absolutely no claims or accidents (and a sliding phone says my driving was no good). So...I tied my phone down and went for a slow, careful drive and was unable to get the app to score me as "excellent" (the ONLY score that will reduce your Insurance bill, with them). This seeming SCAM will not save me any money and could cost me more if it continues to show my driving as just "good". PLUS, I asked a Rep. how the APP knows when you are at a stop light or parked, at the end of your trip, in your driveway (this because if I pick up or handle my phone-while driving-the APP will say I handled my phone or record the action as a Hard Braking event or Poor Cornering). She said she did know if it could tell. So when I arrive at the end of my trip...How long must I wait to pick up my phone so not to be DINGED for a bad driving event by the APP????? Again, I have had NO Accidents or Car Ins. claims in over 50 years of driving...GEICO...seriously, dudes, what the F do you need an APP for. On December 23rd 2024 I had called Geico and started a new policy effective 12/24/24 at 12:01am and had cancelled my current coverage the same day and time the new policy went into effect. I had the unfortunate mishap of getting into an accident later that day and the claim was sent to their SIU department. I had provided Geico with two recorded statements including facts and time of loss, a 911 call I placed to report the accident, pictures with the time on them, and a final bill notice from my prior insurance carrier. I have not heard from Geico in several days and I had since found out they wrongfully dropped me as an insured since they returned my unearned premium. I am assuming Geico is going to deny my claim when there was coverage for this loss, Geico is handling this claim in bad faith and the SIU rep Ryan was rude, disrespectful and would yell at me. As a new Geico customer this is not the service I would expect from a large insurance company and I would not recommend them to anyone. I am a former employee of GEICO and while working there I earned a bonus of 1,000 back in august, GEICOs policy for its agents is we have to wait 90 days to ensure the policy sticks. we are now well over the 90 days and GEICO refuses to respond to me about my bonus. I reached out to upper management and she blocked me without responding. I have reached out to my former supervisor who just keeps giving me the run around. I have moved onto a company who is morally and ethically better and just want to forget I ever worked at GEICO. I just want the money I worked hard for while I was there. I've experienced better from automotive insurance companies... So today, I've experienced the most ruthless Customer Service from GEICO ever. As a customer already paying for a high premium you will get treated like a rat. Short story short, turned on the car with the A/C on, put the dog in the car with all of her toys and her bed getting ready for a roadtrip we close the door so that the nats/flies don't come into the car. And upon closing the door the dog jumps up to see where we went and she locked the car doors. Now once we noticed, we got on the GEICO app to call GEICO Roadside and we stayed on hold for over 20 minutes to then later on via a different phone (still on hold by the way) to call the local PD to have them bring a lockout kit since most PD's have them. Still being on hold, we went on the GEICO app again and we reported the issue that we got locked out of our car through the app to see if we could have gotten a faster response... nope. GEICO cancelled our request. One major annoyance is that when you call GEICO Roadside you have to relay all the information, from policy number to what vehicle it is. If I call Roadside from the app. The app should import all my information from the app. I shouldn't have to tell an automated AI my information when you have it already. This spent at least 5 minutes responding to this horrible AI. Literally as soon as PD and Fire came, we opened the door with a metal fishing line cable. Soooo glad that GEICO were with us... with this expensive premium (sarcasm). Imagine if someone was in a forest with 5% battery... You'll either spend 1 hour on hold or have your request cancelled. You'd be out of luck with GEICO nowhere in sight because they don't care about you. Call 911 instead... a free service that isn't tied to your premium. read more

Geico roadside left me stranded 50 miles away from any city at 3 am. No lights around, no help anywhere. Total darkness. They said they couldn't get me help until the next day, and they could tow my truck in the opposite direction from home, into a city hours away. I wouldn't wish Geico on anyone. September 2023 I got in a minor accident (hit my passenger bumper). Being with them for 1 year & 6 months they couldn't continue to offer me insurance due to those claims!! Stay away. Signed all the papers I was asked to sign when I signed up for the insurance. A month later with no warning or communication something is missing they said there was a document missing and because of that they added an extra insurance charge that I specifically declined and charged me $681 additional for a month when my 6 month policy was only 2k that I paid in advance. I called them and all I got was I am sorry this is our policy and I know we didn't send you a notice or call you that we still needed one more signature.. in the process of trying to dispute this then they increased my insurance another $85 a month with in a month of signing up. How does that happen and I had a binding quote? I left them and went back to progressive which is a great company to have. Geico still charged me the fees and for the one month I was with them they charged me $1,300. I have a perfect driving record and great credit. Stay away! We were hit by someone else and the person who hit us insurance company is not cooperating, so we called Geico after 2 months of trying to call the other insurance company to get our vehicle fixed and geico wants to charge us for our rental and $1,000 to get our truck out. I pay them over $800 a month and am about to add another vehicle which means I will be paying more and everyone knows they will go after the other party's insurance and want us to pay $1500 for something we didn't do. Today was the first time I've had to use my Geico roadside assistance. I've paid for this for years and fortunately for me have never had to use it. Today my car wouldn't turn over and I needed a jump. I went to my Geico app and with a simple 2 button push I had a local towing company on its way to get my car started. They estimated the arrival would be in about 50 minutes. WELL within 35 minutes from my placing order to the car was jumped was only 35 minutes I couldn't ask for more. I will have to start by addressing the common theme with insurance company reviews and negative remarks. Typical individuals do not leave glowing remarks for insurance companies when a rate increases based on State statistics or rate filings, but rather negative remarks on a process they feel they did not complete correctly. I have worked in insurance for 3.5 years in customer service, underwriting, and human resources and I have nothing negative to say about GEICO because I understand how the process works. Bad experiences can happen to anyone, but thankfully I have not encountered any on my part. I always obtain superior customer service and walk away happy. The Regional office is located in Lakeland and houses thousands of employees from all departments you can think of. It services the entire State of Florida. Decreasing customer holding is the primary concern and I respect that. You can get an inspection completed here or pay your bill if you are not into online payments. I would like to start by saying that my husband and I have been customers of Geico for over 10 years.... we loved the rates, the flexibility to change your payment date as need, automated payments, etc. When my husband totaled his vehicle, Geico handled EVERYTHING. We were very pleased. For our experience up until these past few months, they deserve 5 stars. HOWEVER, shortly after my husband's accident our rates spiked by over $100/mo. We found this strange, as we were told we had "accident forgiveness". After inquiring online and via multiple phone calls to Geico, we were told that our rates did not increase because of the accident but instead due to the "overall record of the account". When asked what that meant, they said "the accident in combination with a speeding ticket from 3-years ago". Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the rates went up after the speeding ticket we would not question it. The rates conveniently went up after the car accident... a NO FAULT accident. Whoever made that decision was trying to be clever and get some money back from the accident. Progressive took the same information into account and gave us a better rate than we were paying Geico PRIOR to them spiking our rate. This whole experience was disappointing... a little greediness lost Geico a customer of 10+ years. read more

A customer for a long time but when it came time that I needed them they made the entire process one big hassle and provided poor service and cut corners on the repairs. They insist on using aftermarket parts even on newer cars; not good as the price difference between OEM and AFM is small but quality difference is huge. Also refused to allow alignment even though the car was struck in the front end. Geico cut corners on repairs to save a few bucks while they spend millions on their stupid advertising. Don't believe the reviews on their web site. Stay away from Geico if you want high quality repairs and great service should you ever have a claim. read more

Well there was a reason. They called me this morning to tell me they're canceling me because of an accident that was investigated by previous company and never even happened, an accident my husband was in in march of 2018 that was literally him pulling into the street and hitting the neighbors car that was parked literally accross the center of the street, illegally. And a speeding ticket....we havent had a speeding ticket in over 5 years. I avoided geico for years after several family and friends bad experiences and I will never even think of them in the future and reccomend that no one else does. read more

My vehicle was hit by a teenager while it was parked in a parking lot in December. Information was exchanged, and I tried to contact his insurance company, Geico.
