My insurance in 2025 included dental work as long as you used a "network" dentist. I tried to interview a number of dentists and decided on this practice. Let me tell you, if you are scared of Halloween stories you may not want to continue this post. Everyone was really nice; they always gave us some cute dentist object to take home. My initial review probably indicates this. Now for the saga. We were always asked to pay before our departure. Without seeing insurance assurance or really know what amount we were accountable for. Ok, I am still trusting and paying. The office did not appear to be really clean and that bothered me, so I mentioned fingerprints on the lamp and how they were handling tools to be placed in my mouth. They assured me they were clean, and they used some disinfected, that made things not sparkle. (I will skip ahead and tell you my new dentist was cleaning the whole time I was there) Now for the "getter of the story". The dentist said that I was needing a new crown for my back tooth. I never had problems with it, but she insisted that I was sure to need in the future. I asked the cost, and she told me my insurance would cover, $1650. I didn't think so but both she and the office member had agreed that the insurance had preapproved the service. OK, well there was pressure and like a dumb (you can fill out in the word) I went ahead. I called UHC the minute I got home. No preapproval, not enough benefits and she forwarded me to the website to verify But wait there is more. She was right I did not have benefits so I was told the Dr could hold me accountable. (seeing smoke yet?) In addition, there were numerous payments for both my husband and me that we had paid, and the insurance had also paid. (Are you thinking what I am thinking?) While I am going through all of this, I find they are replacing a tooth of his and looking at his Tonge for cancer. (usually free but at this office $50 charge not covered by insurance) Care is questionable. I never felt comfortable or felt that I am receiving caring service. Often times I didn't even know the tech's name. I go to the end the office manager would no longer speak with me because she said I was going to put her in jail??? I called UHC and reported fraud, at this point there is no mention of refund. I contacted my credit card company reported fraud and then forwarded a certified letter, to the Dentist personally. Finally, I got our $1000+ back and found a new dentist, Dr Brown on Shadeland. If you would like to see my review there, I will be posting soon. read more

Husband side of tooth chipped off. Went in to get it fixed. Took the lady 4 hours for one tooth. She clearly didn't know how to do mold fittings and kept redoing it three times. Then when new tooth finally came in from lab, it was too big. Sent it back out to lab and when it came back a second time it was too small. Third time off to lab and finally got it right. Then the dentist decided my husbands other tooth also need a cap and multiple fillings needed to be redone. My husband, with "I'm gullible" written across his forehead, believed her! No joke, exact same problem with getting molding right AND lab. I told my husband to go somewhere else. Seven months later, we got an invoice in the mail from them. They "forgot" to add something to the original bill. Cost an extra $650. I reported her to the state for fraud. read more

I was soured on Geist Family Dentristy when I came here for a regularly scheduled cleaning. During the course of the cleaning, the tech found some spots that she thought were suspiciously soft. She called the dentist in, who examined my mouth and let me know that I had two cavities that needed to be filled. There were two other spots that he checked out, but decided that they were ok and didn't need treatment. Well, I'm pretty freaked out by drills in my mouth, so when I went in to have the work done, I asked for the nitrous. They administer it, and then, while I'm too messed up to protest, the dentist decides that he better go ahead and drill those other two spots after all, so when I come down from the gas, I'm presented with a bill that's twice as high as what I expected to pay. Maybe this is normal, but I don't think so. It seemed shady to me, and I won't be going back here. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because the tech was so pleasant and friendly. read more

Sometimes I feel like when you have to fill out the questionnaire about problems you're experiencing with your teeth employees don't always read it. Not here. My dental hygienist was absolutely wonderful. My main issue with my teeth is staining. She spent so much time on my teeth trying to get the stain off. She educated me on how electric toothbrushes help with that and recommended a brand. And no they don't sell them so it wasn't for commission. They then told me I had a small cavity he wanted to fix. I left a different dentist for telling me I had 11 so I figured this was better. This was a different visit than my cleaning and I heard my hygienist in the hallway with the dentist telling him about my stain and he came back in to work on my problem areas. Very impressed that she remembered and cared enough to talk to him about it. read more

Not happy with them at all. My husband & I went here for for the first time for our annual visit. I was told I needed to come back for a filling. The hygenist said with my insurance coverage the filling would only end up costing me $16 so I went forward with the procedure. When it came time for me to pay what I was originally told, the total had magically changed to $72! Imagine my surprise. I paid the $16 that I was first quoted & refused to pay the rest. A very unhelpful & rude front desk lady didn't help the situation whatsoever. Save yourself the hassle; find a more professional dentist! read more

I am very happy with this dental office. The dental hygienists are very sweet and friendly, and they seem to really enjoy their jobs. Dr. Tambunan is a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to teeth - he is not someone to visit if you only want to get your teeth cleaned and get out. But if you want to make sure that your gums and teeth are in optimum shape, he is a great dentist to see. The office usually will share what your bill is up front, before any major procedures, so that you can decide before getting a root canal, etc. read more

Extreme disappointment. I really feel taken advantage of, the focus is certainly about how much money we can squeeze out of this "one". New to the area, first visit was exam only, I was rescheduled for a cleaning. Returned for cleaning, nothing special, today. Problem is, I shared that I had a periodontal visit ten years ago, so that placed me in a category of special pricing which increased the cost and insurance benefit. Stay away! Trust me when I say that you are better off finding another place to go. My daughter had a few cavities that my husband took her to go fill. I found out that they would not let him back in the room and she is only 7 and was so scared. I called to request that they let him back in the room and they tried to explain that children do better when parents are not in the room. I told them I don't care, I know my daughter and promised her that someone would be with her. The lady on the phone said fine she would let my husband go back. I then received a call about 5 minutes later from my husband saying that they refused to finish the work and would refer her to someone else. I can't believe they would kick a 7 year old out after they already started on the work just because she felt more comfortable having a parent with her. In addition to this I have to say they are really bad at answering their phones and no one ever got back to me like they said they would for the cost of what was going to be done. I was very definitive in which insurance I had when I called to verify that they took it. I repeated exactly what I had a couple of times and I assured that they took it. WRONG. $30 copay turned in $250. Also do NOT go with their diagnosis if they say something extra and really expensive Is needed right away. Get a second opinion. That might save you another $700 that could be easily treated for much cheaper. read more
