We had a great experience at GELATO&Cioccolato in Cos Cob, Greenwich. The store manager was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. She helped us pick our gelato during our visit and also took the time to explain options for event catering, which was super helpful. She let us sample a few flavors so we could choose confidently, and the gelato was outstanding, easily some of the best in the area. The flavors are rich and creamy but not overly sweet, and they taste true to the ingredients, especially the fruit flavors and chocolate/dessert-style options. The shop itself is very clean, well organized, and inviting. If you're looking for great gelato in Greenwich / Cos Cob, this place is a must. Highly recommend. read more

We were out taking a drive one Sunday recently and decided to find a sweet little spot for a sweet treat. A quick yelp search for ice cream have us a few options in the Greenwich area and the second I saw gelato, the search was over. This was the cutest little shop! It has just enough room in front of the counter for a handful of strangers or a family to stand and wait while ordering. Those place reminded me of one of the Gelato places I went to in Rome at Piazza Navona. The service was fast and friendly. When I asked about a flavor, he let me try it. I had Italian cookies gelato and my husband had the most decadent of dark chocolate gelatos. They were delicious! We drove over to Cos Cob Park to enjoy the treats as we walked and took in the beautiful views. It was the perfect end to a Sunday drive. read more

The best Gelato in the Northeast! None of the nearby gelato shops can top GELATO&Cioccolato! The shop is super awesome, the Otalian folks running it are super polite and friendly. The flavors destroy all others in the area. The closest is in New Canaan but this place is by far the very best! My favorite is mixing chocolate with lemon - but you won't go wrong with any of the flavors. These folks know Gelato! The shop is clean and spotless - the setup is perfect in my opinion! Gelato is good but the service tonight (Tuesday June 24) was not up to their standards. My daughter asked to try a flavor and I asked for the same. The server asked 'you can't try off the same spoon?' This is the second time we've been there where the same server has had attitude. When she gave me my spoon she had her hand on the spoon side rather than the stick which is unhygienic. There a void of friendliness. read more

Was visiting CT for a few days , after a nice lunch we wanted to satisfy our sweet tooth so we looked on yelp for something that had vegan options since my friend is vegan . We found this cute little spot and drove 15 mins to satisfy our cravings . I had the coconut gelato ,it was incredibly delicious , so rich and creamy . My friend had the dairy free vegan and she kept telling me she's not sure it's vegan cause it's so rich and delicious lol My daughter had the tiramisu cup which was in a separate fridge , she said it was the best dessert she's ever had lol , it came in a glass cup which was pretty cool too Hope I have to come back to CT for work so I can have some more gelato ! read more

I tasted the blueberry gelato, which was a bit too sweet for my taste. I asked the manager if the strawberry and mango would have a more tart or sweet taste to be able to make a decision. She mentioned all ice creams have equal amounts of sugar in them. While that maybe true, in terms of sugar by weight added to all ice cream types, mango definitely had a subtle tart flavor, which I personally enjoy. I tried my luck to unravel that. We got a grande with 3 flavors - mango, caramel/hazelnut and chocolate. Ice cream was good. I enjoyed mango and chocolate flavor more while my partner loved the caramel/hazelnut. It was a bit difficult to communicate with the manager. I asked for chocolate at the time of placing an order. She seemed preoccupied and thought we asked for coffee a few times. We clarified again, at-least 5 times if not more. I'm glad we were able to get chocolate gelato after a bit of a back and forth. read more

This place is fantastic!!! The gelato is so fresh, flavorful, and delicious--just like I had in Italy! I tried several flavors and my all time favorites are Italian cookie, white chocolate raspberry, and milk chocolate! Truly delicious! Service is fantastic--she even put a bow on the container I was bringing a friend as a gift! As soon as you walk in, you're hit with the amazing smell of gelato and chocolate! No resemblance to Italian gelato unfortunately. None of the flavors shine through. Don't taste the pistachio in the pistachio and the vanilla is muted in the vanilla. You'd do better with a pint from Whole Foods. read more

Giving a four star rating because they only offer one cone, which doesn't have much flavor, and tastes stale when it soaks up the ice cream. However, this place was awesome. Amazing gelato! The hazelnut flavor is to die for. They also have dairy free gelato. I got a scoop of dairy free raspberry as well; you couldn't even tell it was dairy free. 10/10 would come back. read more

This was one of the very best non-dairy gelato I've EVER had. The cioccolato was dark, rich, and not too sweet--it was great. There was nearly no one there; there are a few stools inside, and the prices were reasonable ($4.50). GO THERE! read more

While I love their Gelato and everyone who is serving in the evenings are super nice, there is this awful lady who sits there during the days, super rude, without mask and speaks with the ice cream right in front of her. I might be ok with a little bit of spit in my ice cream in regular times but NOT during CovID. Also she gives 2/3 the quantity than when I visit in the evenings. read more

I heard a lot about this place and decided to give it a try. I entered the store and was greeted by an upbeat teenager. Her name is Lexi which I assume is short for Alexis. She had welcoming eyes and I imagine a smile to match but she was observing covid protocol and wearing a mask. She made some fantastic recommendations and allowed me to sample a few. G&C Gelato is fantastic and the service was top notch. I would suggest that they make a batch for dogs (i.e. no sugar no salt) so I can buy a scoop for my furry friend. 5 stars read more

Oh. My. Gosh. Their dark chocolate gelato is literally heaven!!! Hands down the best ice cream or gelato I've ever had, including in Italy. Every single bite is ecstasy. I can't get enough. Unfortunately I live around the corner from them, so I'm constantly eating it all summer long and ruining bikini season. The owner is a lovely person and is from Italy, and it shows in the taste. Amazing place, I keep praying they stay open for a long time to come! One quick note - they are closed in the winter, so check before going. read more

This place is simply delicious! It's just like the gelato in Italy and perhaps even better because it's right here at home. I went in the other night with my friend after dinner thinking that I couldn't have anything because I'm allergic to cows milk. The staff quickly pointed to 6-7 flavors that are completely dairy free. I thought I'd give it a try, but I wasn't expecting that it would taste very good without the milk. I couldn't have been more wrong. I had the dark chocolate and peach and it was simply incredible! This is going to be my go-to place when I'm looking for a treat. (Which occurs often :) We're very lucky to have a new member of the Cos Cob community directly from Italy who reminds us of what we're missing from our wonderful vacations. read more

Well, we went for a little dessert after an early dinner and came across this little gelato Spot. We have never been here before, so we took the chance. We were greeted by a nice gentleman inside who gave us a sampling or two. We settled on a couple of scoops of Stracciatella and Mint and also hazelnut and Stracciatella! Growing up Italian and nearby in Greenwich, we'd often get their pastries, custom ordered birthday cakes, zeppoles and sfingis and those oh so amazing almond horns in the 90's. Went to college and moved higher upstate over time. And although they've moved locations a slight bit, their quality and recipes have remained the same. Just had them the other week when my father came to visit. Everything was just as fabulous as I remembered. Thank you for not changing along with the rest of the world.

In addition, she brought us chocolate chip cookies that reminded me of the thin, crispy cookies from Tate's Bake Shop, which are my favorite! I rejoiced all the sweets and even had a card for a free dessert or cookie, though I misplaced it. Overall, I would definitely recommend this shop for your next celebration!
