Came here specifically for the chocolate covered bananas. I was so excited to find someone that sold them. Purchased one covered with sprinkles and another one covered with coconut. I really wish i had gotten the one with nuts too but i know I couldn't carry and eat all 3 at once lol. They were frozen and they were good. Ate half of each right away and saved the rest for later. They were actually better later. Guess they are known for paletas... don't know what that is but Maybe next time I'll try it. Seen they had ice cream and also one of my favorites, a banana split... more reasons to come back! The one reason I wouldn't go back would be the customer service. Was really excited to try this place as I love paletas. I ordered the milk mango pop bar and it was bland. I kept eating it and the skin of the mango was present. I complained and asked them for a new one and she told me she would not since it's a mango. Not sure which mango ice cream includes it's skin but that's normal here apparently. Skin lovers rejoice you will find it in your pop bars here and then lectured if you complain... that it is part of the mango. Really hate that I had to write this review. read more

Came in here not really knowing what to expect. When my boyfriend told me we were stopping for ice cream I wasn't expecting to walk into a place that smelled so much like fruit. We had at least 6 people ahead of us so I was glad to have a few minutes to decide what I wanted. That, however, was not the case as the line moved SO fast. Within a few minutes they were already asking what we wanted. I was totally unprepared so we just got a passion fruit popsicle and it was delicious. This place is top tier. Hands down the best paletas I've ever had anywhere in the USA. The prices are great and their milk flavors are my absolute favorite. You can't go wrong with the cookies and cream flavor if you're new here but coconut and passion fruit are probably my favorites. I don't even like pistachio but it is amazing and has such a fresh taste. The spinach and orange juice is amazing and you will feel amazing after! And the cheesecake favor is super authentic and has perfect chunks without being too overwhelming. The strawberry is everything, it tastes like fresh strawberries off of a farmers market. Honestly disappointing how bad the customer service is. It's a pretty easy gig. Ask what people want, make it, hand it to them, collect your money. The first time I came in here, the woman helping me was incredibly rude and nasty. She asked what I wanted, then took care of another customer, and came back giving me attitude and rushing me to repeat my order while she huffed and puffed. I came back reluctantly on a walk home for an aguafresca the other day. Some people just don't deserve a second chance. I walked in to see the same nasty rude woman working with another girl and crossed my fingers that I would not have to deal with her again as she was already visibly perturbed as usual. This woman blatantly took three other customers before me just because she apparently didn't like me? I have no clue what her issue is. It was super rude and awkward and the man behind me (who would've been the fourth person she allowed to cut me as I stood there), finally said,...wait you're next! What is happening?? The nasty woman walked away and let the other girl very reluctantly help me. I am a Latina woman, I do speak Spanish, but perhaps in a dialect she dislikes? Maybe she assumes I'm just another white lady? Is that a crime at this shop if I was? I can only imagine how they treat you if you speak no Spanish whatsoever. They make no attempt at all to say anything in English and just repeat themselves quickly in Spanish which I thought was kind of odd. Either way, being disrespectful and rude to customers is never ok. I don't know who this woman is, but she needs a reality check. Blatantly taking other customers before someone just because you feel like it is unacceptable. I won't be back but I do walk by frequently and I will be happy to let potential clients know they should go elsewhere. Thanks for making a half Mexican girl uncomfortable while she tried to enjoy something that connected her to her roots. Never again. Get a nicer staff. I was in Port Chester at about 10 o clock looking for a good icecream place & stumbled across this gem. The paletas taste so fresh and exactly like the flavor they are. They are not watered down or anything, pure flavor. They have some traditional flavors, but definitely have something for everyone: pico de gallo flavor, avocado, and more. Aside from the paletas, they had traditional icecream flavors & home made juices as well as freshly cut fruits. 100% recommend this place. This is a great place! I've been here for ice cream and popsicles a few times. I have passed this ice cream store so many times. I didn't even know that it was here! I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the mood for ice cream and you're in the area. The line was super long. I stopped here on a week night in the middle of summer. There were probably 15 people ahead of me. But, the line moved pretty quickly. There were a lot of people working, so I didn't have to wait long. I tried a few of their popsicles and brought them home with me. You can also get ice cream, milkshakes, food, etc. here. But I had just eaten, and wasn't too hungry. There are a few chairs in the window where you can sit to eat, too. I'd definitely stop back here for ice cream again the next time I'm nearby. read more

This is such an awesome find in the heart of Port Chester! I loved the feel of the shop, although as the only non-Hispanic customer when I visited, I definitely felt a little out of my element. Regardless, I was like a little kid in a candy store, eyeing all of the different flavors of paletas and ice creams, and the Mexican corn on the menu....If I could eat with my eyes, I would have been stuffed to the brim and then some! I ended up going with the fruit and yogurt paleta because it looked really yummy. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of the greek yogurt base. I have never been a fan of greek yogurt, so it made the whole popsicle difficult to finish. I did, just because I don't like wasting food, but I wish the yogurt base they used was a touch lighter. The popsicle was chock full of fruits (mango, coconut, raisins, and strawberries), although they didn't mention that it was also filled with nut products as well (ie. pistachios). If you have a nut allergy, be wary! At $2.50 a pop, you don't have to feel guilty about splurging. It's also a pretty guilt free snack if you ask me! I would have given this gem of a find 5 stars if not for my disappointment with my popsicle, but I will definitely be back to try their assortment of flavors. Who knows, I might even buy a bunch to stock my freezer with at home! I can't wait to be back to try their tacos and Mexican corn. Droooool. A little taste of home In Port Chester. Growing up in Los Angeles, I loved the summer months when I would hear the little bell of the paletero man (fruit bar man). Instead of a full all ice cream truck, it was a little cart that would go around the neighborhood. Running outside, my brother would flag him so we could get some ice cold paletas. Here in Port Chester came the nostalgia and the wonderful flavors of my childhood. They have both the water based and milk based paletas as well as a wide variety of other desserts. The paletas are made in house with fresh fruit from Costco right around the corner. They are reasonably priced at $2.50 each. My favorites include watermelon, strawberry, and mango. NYC is currently CRAZY with over-the-top, instagrammable frozen treats. It's enough to turn a girl's head so much she forgets all about a place like this. Luckily, fate intervened and I wound up here twice in one week. Maybe she's not such a cruel mistress after-all: Anyway, allow me to backtrack for a moment. A few years ago, I was infatuated with this spot, trumping up every conceivable excuse to hang out in Port Chester. And no offense to all you Port Chester-ites(?) out there, but it wasn't easy. At one point, I remember desperately trying to find a local equivalent, and being all excited to try Sley's, made in my very own BK, only to be utterly disappointed. I eventually moved on to other delicious obsessions. Flash forward to now when I decide to revisit this place as part of a detour on the way to Boston. Hubby, kid, and I all get milk-based Paletas, including Pecan, Mango, and Coffee, respectively. Now I *kind of* get why so many Yelpers seem to love to use this particular word because.... Yasss!!! Only slight knocks on this place are that the when it gets busy, the ordering process is a bit messy and disorganized, and also some items (eg - milkshakes) can get pricey. I was super excited about getting a popsicle (hoping they were homemade or something), but they looked a little frost bitten and like something I could find at a deli or grocery store. Though it waves in English speakers (like me) with the label "ice cream shop," at Paleteria Fernandez, popsicles are the prize. You'll find typical Mexican varieties like tamarind, mango with chili, and "rice pudding" as well as familiar friends like cherry, lemon, and lime, but my instincts sent me looking to the far end of the spectrum. "I think that's spicier than you'll like it, sir," the counterman said (though not quite in those words) about the pico de gallo. It's a mosaic of cucumber, mango, and jicama with orange, chili, salt, and pepper, and it's spicy indeed -- spicy enough that I chased it with a simpler, creamier guanabana (soursop) paleta not long after. Even though Paleteria Fernandez seems to have an eye on wholesale business -- the popsicles are sold in clear wrappers branded with the shop's name -- the paletas themselves are idiosyncratic to a fault. The pico de gallo was aggressively spicy, and the guanabana still contained a few fibers from the soursop that flavored it. (For that matter, the pico de gallo was also presented as the "roaster's mix," the guanabana, as "sour soup.") And at $2 to $2.50, they're about twice the price you'll usually pay for a paleta. 1) Port Chester is a cute little town. 2) It must have a huge Brazilian expat population because many of the restaurants I saw were of the Brazilian grill variety. 3) 4-hr free parking in the "downtown" area 4) Very easy to get to (if you have a car -- I imagine it's also easy by Metro North) 5) ANOTHER POPSICLE in the POPSICLE THROWDOWN!!!!! It was over 100 degrees with humidity and I had a long drive to Boston ahead of me. Thankfully Yelp alerted to to the fact that Port Chester had a terrific little Brazilian paleteria where I got a couple paletas to cool me off. The guava was an interesting flavor and it really did taste like eating guavas (complete with the little seed like things in the paleta). I tried the milk blackberry because it was something different I hadn't had before. It's a creamy sweet paleta that tastes like a blackberry pudding. They have other interesting flavors and the paletas are $2 or $2.50 depending upon the flavor. I hate to do this. Just the other week I was saying this is the only place that is always consistently good. Well, something changed between March and April. I noticed first the new, different wrappers. And then the flavor----- completely different -- and the texture of the pops---- even worse. Artificial now too. Before the pops tasted fresh and natural.
